  1. Good job! We as a community need to do this more often.

Kids nowadays have very short attention span, and I do suspect that most members on CA are above 30. Getting kids hooked to fighter games like SF2 then graduate them into more realistic FS is to goal. We can't have games without broadening audience.

In addition to tutorial videos, we might also need "cool" videos to get kids hooked on.

  2. Actually, I got blown out of this self-made SP mission the first time. Then I realized that I shouldn't be approaching from the flat lands. That time I flew to the east of the SAM site and use the small hill to get into the envelop. And the first thing I take out is the command post. Without it, it won't fire a single shot.

There is a mountain top near the border of Abkhazia in Georgia proper that is flat enough and wide enough to put enough air-defense assets on it. I've tried putting a full Patriot battery plus a Buk-M1 system and a few ZSU-23-4s. I finally found a way to take out MPQ-53. It actually shoots down Kh-58 missiles.

I can't clear the mountain top myself. AI-controlled a/c are idiotic at best. Need some brains behind the cockpit to work together.

Ships are kind of idiotic. They really need to fix Ticonderoga, and give Perry two-target engagement capability, and priotize shooting down AShMs first. I know it's about 1990s technology, but Tico should be able to shoot down two Su-25Ts with all 4xKh-58 fired at it without a scratch.

  3. I use a Saitek Cyborg EVO Force, and a Cyborg X flightstick, and they don't suffer from the stiffness.

I've been using a Saitek Cyborg EVO for around 5 years now with no complains...pretty cheap too!

Can't believe that a lot of people are still using EVO (me being one, too). That one is the toughest flight stick I have ever seen (and cheap, too).

Maybe I should put it on eBay and get an X52 later.

  4. Well, the AI are certainly light years ahead of the AI in IL-2 in terms of dogfight skill, and everything else. They actually attack, break-off, and do everything you tell them to. I LOVE the AI in SF2.

Indeed, AI in SF2 is generallly pretty good. They can decide which tactical action to execute even without orders or instructions. Sometimes the problem is that the AI is too liberal in choosing its own action, especially the flight 1,2, etc, when you want them to attack tanks, they go after AAA. Otherwise, the only criticism I have on AI is that they can't follow me flying ultra low, which is a necessity when playing campaign on Hard. There's S-75 and Buk system behind every tree.

Sometimes I really hope that there's at least 8p co-op mode.

  5. Is it just me or the ground troops in campaign can get AWOL?

    It's getting annoying.

European campaign, 1962. After successfully repelled Soviet OMG, some US troops gone AWOL, and the southern front is composed of all Western Germany divisions. After a successful mission in Jena, which ALL T-55A tanks on the ground, even all AAA, were destroyed, and some M48A2 still survive. In the next mission, they gone AWOL as well. :this:

In the mission debriefing it was listed as "attack being repulsed,"

The enemy has only about 50+ tanks left in Jena while friendly forces has around 60. How could this happen so many times?
