Well fellows, I have excellent news! WOFF runs much better than OFF, with my frames never dropping below 45 even on an airfield! When I first ran it, I got never above 25 fps, but chaning AA to 2x from 8x and terrain texture detail to normal gave me almost double the performace! Thanks for everyone's help in this thread, it's really wonderful. See you all in the skies soon gents.

Thanks, I don't really check the other forums at all so cheers for the link! Also, does anyone know what the "gpu" number means on all the screenshots? I would have assumed it's memory consumption, but that doesn't make sense given what it says compared to your card.

Well fellows, this is excellent news indeed! I hope to see you back in skies soon, and thanks for all your help!

Yeah, it's a great system with the exception of the grahpics card - that's the only thing that's worrying me. Still, I can't do anything about it until I get back home, so I'll post an update here when I'm able to provide more details. Thanks again for all the help, sir!

Hi Adger1971, my specs are as follows: Intel i7-2600K @ 3.40GHz 8GB DDR3 RAM (think it's 1333MHz) AMD HD6670 2GB GDDR3 2 x 2TB SATA Hard Drive I can't give you my frames for OFF at the moment because I'm at university for now, and hence don't have access to my machine. I'm getting home on the weekend so I'll be sure to put it up then! From memory though, I would say about 15-30fps when starting a mission on the ground at an airbase, then anywhere between 30-60fps while flying depending largely on the weather. Thanks again!

Wow, Adger1971, WOFF sure looks great on your rig! Thanks for going to the effort with that post - it's really much appreciated. It may be worth me giving it a try judging by those frame rates; I suppose if I can't run it properly I'll be able to keep it somewhere safe until I have a graphics card that's up to the task. If it's any help, I can run Battlefield 3 at about 20fps on Low settings at 1080p, and 25-35fps on Low at ~720p. Thanks again guys!

Hi Adger1971, thanks for the reply. I had a look at your card, and it seems to be much more powerful that my current one. What kind of frame rate are you getting on WOFF? And, if it's not too much trouble, would you mind posting your frame rate from OFF, just to see the comparison? DukeIronHand, that's exactly my worry. What kind of sims do you label as "graphics intensive", and which card are you using? Apologies if you've already said, I had a glance back through the thread and couldn't see it anywhere. Thanks again!

Hi guys, I'm concerned my card will have problems running WOFF. It's an old HD 6670, and if I recall correctly it did at times have some severe frame rate drops on OFF. I'd love to be able to take to the skies of WOFF, but I can't afford a new graphics card at the moment, so there doesn't seem much point in buying it if I won't be able to run it. Using the Hardware Compare site Tamper posted about (those posts were really great by the way, thanks!), I can see that my card isn't really up to much at all, and it is infact worse - the card on the comparisson site has GDDR5 memory, while my card is on GDDR3. You can also spot it on the chart UK_Widowmaker posted near the poor-performance end, so I'm not very optimisitc. Anyway, any advice either way by those more experienced in such matters would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
  13. No..No..NOOOOOOOO

Snipes may not have grown on trees, but some other kites sure did! ;)
  14. @Hauksbee: Indeed it was! Unfortunately I don't have a grahpics card anywhere near capable of running the game above 30 fps, so I'm going to have to give it a miss for now. @Tamper: That's a really good point about the FoV, I didn't think of that. I suppose the best bet at the moment then is to go down the other routes already suggested.
  15. It's been a while gents, but I decided to hop back on and see how thing's are going - only to find WOFF's release is imminent. Great stuff! Just thought I would add my two cents - over at my sister's house they have a projector which provides you with a truly massive viewport; perhaps that could be something to look into for those who want to go the extra mile? Of course, I would presume getting a decent projector (with a good enough refresh rate etc.) would be somewhat pricey, but I'm not too sure either way. Anyway, I hope you're all doing well, and hopefully I'll be able to join you in the skies some time soon! All the best.

  17. I really love the camouflage on your wings RAF_Louvert, it looks great. I'd love to join you all up there again, but I'm having hardware issues. But anyway, good job! :)

  21. MAW Effects

I'm not sure if this is the case with the CFS3 engine, but on another game I used to mod, when you got white squares in an effect it was because it couldn't find the correct texture file. As I said, I'm not sure if this is the case with CFS3, but it's worth checking all the same. :)
