  1. Airships

Thanks guys. I actually started these back in December and I've been working on them off and on since then. Quack and I have been thinking about naval missions and airships would be more appropriate for them. I have a naval terrain started and I started making some ships too.
  2. Max ground objects in campaigns

I've also noticed that single missions have a lot more troops (or tanks) on the ground. I think that sometimes the formations are doubled. For the campaigns, if changing the formations doesn't work, all I can think of is adding more strategic nodes really close together. I haven't tried it so I don't know if FE will populate more than one node at a time. I think that campaigns use the nodes instead of the movement.ini.
  3. A moving, shooting Tug Boat in FE2!

Thanks for the convoy set up. I'll use that for now. It's frustrating that some things carried over from SF, but other things didn't...
  4. Max ground objects in campaigns

I've been playing with the Formations.ini and I remembered this post. In my campaigns, the Infantry use the "Tank Spread" formation. The tank spread only has positions for 4. You could probably edit the formations.ini to get more positions.
  5. Back in August, Sinbad uploaded a corrected version of the Morane N in the skins section - "IRAS Morane N Skin Set" under "Other Entente Aircraft" - It included the sound fix and Peter01's FM. The download has Russian skins, but you can use the other skins with it.
  6. A moving, shooting Tug Boat in FE2!

Thanks for your help Wrench. It looks like FE does not recognize a "shipping" route. If I define a ship as "Cargo_Shop" it will show up on a truck route, but the game ignores it if I make the same route into a shipping route. I'll keep playing with it.
  7. A moving, shooting Tug Boat in FE2!

FE seems to have most of the naval stuff in it, including the ship wake and several bombs hitting water effects. There's a ship convoy formation in the Formations.ini, and a Naval Object in the Object List.ini. I've been playing with the Flanders terrain, which has a lot of water in it. I've noticed that when machine gun bullets hit water there's a different effect than when they hit land. And when a plane crashes in water there's an oil slick. So FE "knows" the difference between land and water at some level. I've managed to get ships moving on water by identifying them as "Transport" in the data.ini and setting up a truck route on the water. I can set up a Shipping route, but I haven't been able to get a ship to use it. (Things show up at 0,0 because the game gets the LOD, but doesn't know where on the map to place it. That also happens if you get the Position numbers wrong.) In SF, how are the ships that follow the movement identified? I've also been playing with the Albatros, I would love to have a wake effect when it takes off and land. Has anyone managed to do something like that in SF? I've heard that the original FE1 had a dust effect when the plane landed, does anyone know how that was done? What was the effect called and where in the data.ini was it placed?
  8. Sorry to hear about your system crash. I know how frustrating that can be, and no matter how determined we try to be, somehow backups don't get made. If I can help by sending you any of my stuff, let me know.
  9. Italian Front (WIP)

Great screen captures of the plane Quack. I'll make some flying boats when I get more time. Over at SF, Suicidal has a U-boat which I put into the Flanders terrain. I had to change the guns and the service dates in the Data.ini. It's GroundObjectRole is "Warship". In the Flanders Types.ini I gave it a target type of "Misc". It shows up as a target in some of the missions, and it does fire back at you. It doesn't move though. I have FE Gold, there is a NavalObject.dll in the Objects folder and the ObjectList.ini lists a naval object. So at least some of the naval stuff is in there, but I don't know how to access it. SF has some float planes in the download section, how does the game engine handle them? Maybe someone who's worked with naval objects in SF can figure out how to get them working in FE.
  10. Italian Front (WIP)

The terrain looks great, and the area will be perfect for the Italian campaigns that Quack made. I started some seaplanes a while ago. (Quack was test flying them.) I also started some ships. It is going slowly because the real world is taking up so much of my time these days. Has anyone worked with naval objects in First Eagles? I've just started to look into it, but haven't gotten very far.
  11. Albatros D.III Oeffag Ba.53/153/253

    These are great! Thank you!
  12. Rumpler cI skins

    Nice work on the skins!
  13. Italian Front (WIP)

Your Italian terrain looks great so far! Thanks for taking on this important project.
  14. Today I started uploaded new versions of the SPAD A2, Vickers FB5, and the Voisin LAS 2 Pac. Ojcar has created new FMs which make the AI planes more aggressive in fighting. In all these planes, there is a gunner in front, but the pilot is unarmed. The AI pilot just flies his mission and leaves attack up to the AI gunner. Ojcar has added a dummy machine gun, which doesn't show and doesn't do any damage, but now the AI pilot thinks he's armed and tries harder to pursue enemy planes. I have also taken the opportunity to tweak some of the sounds, skins, etc. for these planes. The new versions are in the same place as the original uploads - The SPAD is in the Downloads/Aircraft/SPAD section - the others are in the Other Entente Aircraft section.
  15. Back in October, Gambit168 started a thread about the Russian Civil War. That thread motivated me to finish a project I had started many months before. Today I uploaded decals for 10 post war nations. (They are in the skins area, under "Other Entente Aircraft".) I have decal sets for - Czechoslovakia, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine, and Yugoslavia. I have included all the variations that I am aware of. I also included variations for the Bolshevik markings. There are about 30 decals in all, sorted by nation. You will probably need to tweak the decal ini's when you use these - how they reverse from side to side changes for each nation, and the horizontal stripes will need to be adjusted. I have included notes for how and when they were used, and I included a lot of screen captures. Insignia for some nations are already included in First Eagles - Poland = nation 013 - Soviet Russia = nation 012 - White Russia uses the Imperial Russian insignia = nation 011.
  16. Insignia for Post War Nations

I haven't done any new skins yet. I just made new decal ini's for some skins I already had so people could see what the insignia look like. I don't even remember where those skins came from. I hope some of the modders around here will start posting more accurate skins for the post war period.
  17. OK, it sounds challenging. I went back and looked at my reference materials and I remember the Nieuports with the circular opening in the top wing. Unfortunately, the real world is getting more demanding so I probably won't be able to tackle a new plane for a while. I have some things in progress and I'll try to finish them first.
  18. I always thought of the 12 as being a 2 seat version of the 10. Still, a lightly armed version, with a rifle for the observer, would be fun to have. I'll add it to my list...
  19. Insignia for Post War Nations

Wrench - thanks for fixing my double post! The website you mentioned looks like it would be a good resource for squadron and personal markings as well as for national insignia. Quack - Yes, I duplicated my Eastern Front and started a post-war install this morning. Gambit - Thanks for the inspiration. Gepard - You mentioned a Baltic terrain. That would be a welcome addition to First Eagles. Are you planning to finish it?
  20. Insignia for Post War Nations

Most of the planes used at the end of WWI were used in the Russian Civil War. And many of the planes developed at the end of the war were used, including the DH9's, and the Fokker D.VIII. I have come across some good resources for people who are interested in making post-war skins. The World at War website has articles from Chandelle magazine which include many profile drawings for post-war planes: White Russian planes- http://worldatwar.net/chandelle/v2/v2n3/whitfalc.html Polish planes- http://worldatwar.net/chandelle/v2/v2n2/whitpole.html Communist planes- http://worldatwar.net/chandelle/v2/v2n1/redfighter.html The WWIAviation website has profiles by W.I.Boucher for many nations and many planes (use the Table of Contents to find pages for Russia, Poland, Estonia, and Greece): http://www.wwiaviation.com/gallery.html The Wings Palette Catalog page has links to individual profiles sorted by war and by nation (post war conflicts at the bottom of the page): http://wp.scn.ru/en/cat/wars/ww1
  21. File Name: Decals for Post War Nations File Submitter: Stephen1918 File Submitted: 25 January 2013 File Category: Other Entente Aircraft Skins Fighting continued in Eastern Europe and Russia for many years after the end of World War I. These decals are the insignia of many of the nations that were formed in the closing days of the war. Most of them fought against the Bolsheviks in the Russian Civil Wars, but many of them also fought each other at one time or another. I have included decals for - Czechoslovakia, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, and Yugoslavia. Many nations did not have standardized insignia at first and I have included variations for many of the nations. I have included a text document with notes on how and when they were used. To use these, you will probably need to tweak the decal ini's for existing planes. How and when insignia are reversed on opposite sides of the plane changes from nation to nation, and the horizontal tail stripes will need to be adjusted. Terms of Use You may use these decals for your own personal use. You may include these decals with any skins you upload for First Eagles at Combat Ace. Please give me credit. You may NOT include these decals with skins you upload at any other site. Click here to download this file
  22. Today I uploaded new versions of the Nieuport 10 and the Nieuport 12. Ojcar made new FMs which improve the performance and fix some of the problems with the earlier versions. I have also added one of Nix's engine sounds to the Nieuport 12. Thanks to Panama Red for testing the new FMs.
  23. Updates to Nieuports 10 & 12

Yes, I'm working on them. Ojcar has sent me upgrades for 4 other planes. I'll upload soon.
  24. I have uploaded a new version of the Eastern Front Campaigns. It includes some of the new planes, skins, and ground objects which have become available since version 1 was uploaded. And it fixes the problems with squadrons and ground units in version 1. Oscar has created an FM that converts the stock Albatros DIII OAW into an Austrian Albatros DIII OEF. I have included it, along with a skin from Sinbad in the download. There are also new start screens for the campaigns. I have also included instructions to upgrade from version 1 so you don't have to do a complete re-install if you've already downloaded the first version.
