  1. Very cool! Thanks C5 for pointing me to this thread. Definately "no slack in light attack" as they say. I'll have to show this to one of my dad's friends... John Lites Leenhouts. Google him... you'll find some very interesting stuff! My first time flying was in his 1941 Stearman
  2. Just wondering where I can find out the latest on this great bird! I remember some great pictures released last fall but I guess shes been in hiding since then?!
  3. Not sure if any of the awesome modders 'round here are doing anything phantom related... but here is an awesome website. Lot's of pictures of the panels, switches, instruments, etc. I'm sure some of you guys have a good use for this site! http://members.chello.nl/m.waterloo/f4j-panel.html
  4. I was thinking to myself that I've played WOV for 5 years straight and always loved it... something new every week to try and it just doen't get old! On the other hand the one thing I think the game lacks is immersiveness. It would be kind of neat to have scripted voices of "SF guys on the ground calling in willie pete to mark a target, or yelling out coordinates to you, or you wingman talking to you while forming up, etc" I also thought it would be cool to have scripted voices from guys on the ground telling you your right on F'ing target or helping you walk bombs in on your target! I think it would be something easy to do and I"m playing around with new voice clips. I'm just tired of the usual Red Crown and VERY VERY basic responses from my wingman. Any ideas guys?
  5. tracking....tracking... got 'em 2 you're dead http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b245/markkyle/img00047.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b245/markkyle/img00054.jpg
  6. NFWS

Here's some more for the heck of it
  7. I thought it would be cool if in the next series your "charatcer" which is period correct walks out to the flight line and climbs up the ladder and gets situated in the cockpit while doing a very limited start-up procedure in the sweltering heat with field ops going on .... and you taxi out to the hold short line and wait for clearance with your wingman. (this could be a scripted scene for all I care, but if it was an in game thing it would be awesome!) some of the coolest places you'll ever see in the various militaries (for me anyways) are the flight-lines ... especially at places like Udorn, Korat, etc. or NAS Cecil Field where I grew up, I remember watching guys in F/A18's spooling up their turbofans with their helmets on the windscreen going through preflight checks and signaling when ready to roll out... always cool stuff! I also thought it would be cool to customize your pilots gear. For example in WOV you could pick various tiger-stripe flight suits, duck-hunt camo, or just green flight suits for your pilot... suit up walk out and fire her up Anyways the flight-line experience would add alot to the game I think :] ;
  8. Hey guys! I'm having a hard time trying to get my multiplayer going. I'm playing IL2 1946 patched to 4.08 and using the latest hyperlobby client. when i join a game it says "Connection attempt to remost host failed, Reason: Timed out." any ideas on what I need to fix/change? Thanks for the help! Mark
  9. On a related note, I think for audio this site would be a great reference as well as a great link to pass around our community. Check out the theatre... cool stuff : ] http://www.burrusspta.org/audiopage.html
  10. Little things like that are what I'm talking about. Do you guys know if it would be possible to find a .wav file for instance where the pilot talks about breaks, merges, calling out angel's for bandits, ATC, etc.... and past those over the stock sounds? I'm trying at the moment, so i'll let you all know how that pans out. Thanks for the above links, I really appreciate that. This makes for an interesting thread... neat hearing other peoples ideas.
  11. On a different note, could it be possible to make the migs in WOV use the wagon wheel among other tactics?
  12. Your statement about the training missions that were flown at Miramar and now Fallon are pretty far off. NFSW was/is not just about getting your nose on the other guy and pulling the triggger. They learn alot about their aircraft and weapon systems and how to employ them. They also learn how to operate as a strike group and get bombs on target and fight their way out. Top Gun or NFWS has traditionally had alot of that, but it does culminate in several mock strike attacks, which have been known to involve AF aircaft actually : ] (very much like Red Flag). I have a book on it and its quiet interesting. I personally would love to see this come to fruition can't go wrong with it ! Get some TA4s in there as well as the F5's
  13. I forgot to mention that both of the phantom pilots did say that the one thing it WASNT lacking was the speed to get you where you wanted to be.... that it will give you a good kick in the seat when you light the J-79's up
  14. I've had to takes on the phantom. One from my CFI who is a retired F-4D pilot who flew with Triple Nickel. He said the plane handled like a pig pretty much and was somewhat inefficient with it's energy. You really had to be aware of your energy state and be several steps ahead of her. Also I had an aviation science teacher who was a Navy CAG who had time in the A-7, A-4 adversarys, F-4, and F-14's. He told me the phantom wasn't really good at a paticular thing, but did alot of things well. He was more impressed with the skyhawks and the tomcats .... but that figures... he was an light-attack guy " no slack in light attack "
  15. Thanks for the reply, I'm using a LinkSys Router if that helps any?!
  16. FC, you're T-38's are looking sharp! Very cool plane and glad your helping bring one to the SF/WOV series. Seeing a rear-seat pit in this series not only adds a new level of realism or a cool idea, but a breath of fresh air. Maybe it'll spur on some guys more talented that me to take that idea to the F-4's F-105's and Tomcats! Glad to see someone try it! Keep up the great work!
  17. I'd say the su-27 and the F-105D -31 and F105 G/F pits are top notch. The 105 pit is hi fidelity and the moveable rudders and stick in both add a new dimension instead of just having a panel with moving guages! Oh how i Wish the F4/F8/A4/A6/A7/F100/F14 all had a moveable stick/rudder pedals !
  18. "Under normal conditions there is no vapor effect while breaking the sound barrier. It happen only on high humidity conditions. And then it happen not only when breaking the sound barrier but also when the plane makes very sharp flight maneuvres" All true, but high humidity was the normal condition for south east asia... and thus a great fit for WOV. Also why at airshows here in Fl the wing-tip vortices and vapor skimming off the jets are much more pronounced.
  19. I wouldn't say it's impossible, you just have to find another way to do it. The MF F-14A, F-15A, and F/A-18 have the vapor effect when yanking and banking, maybe we could use that effect as a stand-in for breaking the soundbarrier when you reach a certain airspeed at a certain altitude consistent with doing so! May need to edit it some, but I think it could work. I admit it'd be awesome to see that on the mighty Phantoms!
  20. Hi guys! I'm having trouble getting the hud info to appear on my F14. I'm using the F14A+ and F14D. I downloaded the cockpit upgrade and installed into both the A+ and D tomcats. I then downloaded the Hud and Radar update for the F14. I followed the instructions without much problems... but in the game my tomcat just has the new cockpit without any hud info and only the original radar modes... anybody know what I did wrong? Any help is much appreciated! mark
  21. I heard you guys had a D model Tomcat in the works! possibly with a new pit. This was a few months ago though. just wondering how the progress on it is comming! Man i can't wait. actually it's kinda fitting since the tomcats getting officially retired at the sunset ceremony in Oceana, it'd be nice for the SFP1 community to celebrate its going out with another tomcat release! Any info is appreciated, thanks guys !
  22. heres an ubiased review from me... a mere combat ace forum dweller and addict of WOV. i have no affiliation with the YAP guys, but i just wanted to share the awesomeness of this add-on with you guys.... via pictures. ( since they are worth a thousand words ) SAR for a downed pilot popping smoke and being rescued by a SH3J JOLLY GREEN ! way cool! lots of AAA going through the hills at low altitude to rescue him while AH1 sky raiders provide cover ! pretty realistic if i must say so. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b245/markkyle/img00004.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b245/markkyle/img00005.jpg A NVA soldier feeling the heat of some napalm. This is the Lang Vei mission where the NVA raid a Special Forces camp and you kill all the nva soldiers/tanks "inside the wire" The Special Forces troops on the ground also join the fight for a major ground battle inside the camp ! http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b245/markkyle/img00023.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b245/markkyle/img00030.jpg A SF soldier tanking out a tank with a law trying to raid the Lang Vei SF camp http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b245/markkyle/img00032.jpg Refueling behind the KC-135 Before providing ground support for Khe Sahn! http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b245/markkyle/img00042.jpg MANY MORE PICTURES TO COME! LET ME KNOW WHAT YALL THINK! - Mark
  23. So i was flying the tomcat today and i noticed something that was missing ... the very front of the windscreen on tomcats have a green tint! well maybe not on the early a models ... but would there be a way to make a mod where the front part behind the hud would appear green when in the cocpit? i think it would add a neat little something something to the existing cockpit! also is there a hi-res F14 cockpit in the works? I was also curious about the F14D thats slated to come out.... hows the progress on it comming!? thanks yall - mark
  24. hey guys ! I installed the update for the A6A and it messed the aircraft up by making it take off in the ground and the pilots sit way too far forward ! ? so i ended up just deleting my A6A for WOV ... could you guys email me the stock WOV aircraft ? the entire folder for the A6... it would be much much much appreciated ! : ] mark_kyle66@hotmail.com
  25. hi guys! First I want to say that because of the extensive SFP1/WOV community and the great work all of you guys put out .... i simply love this game! It's simply the best. After patching up my game ... ( WOV on the newest service pack with the new patch for that from third wire) i have problems with some of the engine sounds being played at an accelerated speed. do you guys know how to correct this ? normally it wouldn't bug me so much but I edited the Afterburner sound for the F14A and switched it out with the sound of the LIbyan mig engagement.... A nifty mod if i say so myself : ] but anyways it played the recording way to fast and they sound like tiny little mice lol ... any help is appreciated !
