Pasko's Hawk Launcher
column5 posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
OK, no matter what I do I cannot get any missiles to show up on Pasko's Hawk launcher. I've double checked the data INI for the launcher and for the missile (even tried a couple of different missiles, thinking I might have a bad LOD) but no luck. Is there something unusual about Pasko's launcher or am I missing something fundamental? In seven years I have never been stumped getting a missile to show up. -
Freakin' SA-8's
column5 replied to malibu43's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I've just noticed that the CM rejection values for all missiles in SF2E are extremely high. Even a missile like the AA-2 is set to 98.9228. I don't know what to make of this yet... -

Only temporary...I hope. -

Probably not "impossible" to jam but this bit of info probably explains the difficulty in doing so: The two I-band guidance radars make it possible to launch two missiles at the same target, each one responding to a different frequency to frustrate ECM. The above referring to real-life of course, not the game. -

Up under Weapons you need to create a folder for each weapon. Let's say the folder is "AIM-9N". In that folder create a file called "AIM-9N.INI" and a file called "AIM-9N_DATA.INI". <-- Important, the primary INI file "AIM-9N.INI" MUST match the folder name. Copy the LODs for the weapon to the folder (not necessary if the weapon uses stock LODs). The AIM-9N.INI file will contain a set of data similar to an aircraft INI file, including the weapon name, name of the data INI, the names of the LOD(s), shadow information, and specular/glossiness info for the skin. I'd post an example but I don't have one handy--extract and check some of the stock weapons. The AIM-9N_DATA.INI simply contains the weapon data. Always use 001 for the weapon number in this file. Its time consuming but when you are done your weapons will be completely modular. You don't have to use the weapon editor either--when set up this way all you have to do is drop a new weapon's folder in the Weapons folder and it will be installed automatically when you launch the game. -

Are you setting your weapons up using the new SF2 method? -

I've migrated well over 100 weapons from NF4 to NF4+ with no problems...I can say with pretty high confidence that there are no weapons problems inherent in SF2E. -

The only thing that would make this interesting for me from a simming standpoint is if there were very detailed pre-mission planning elements. -

You should post this over on the ThirdWire forum so TK knows there is demand for another payment method. -

NATO Fighters IV+ Jousting, 1986-style. Both aircraft are AI--the two flights exchanged numerous BVR shots before it came down to this. The MiGs lost. -

TK has been very clear that cost is the issue. I also hope that someday he will be able to create a "2nd Generation" combat sim (SF through WOI being 1st Gen, SF2 being 1.5 Gen). -
SF2E also does WW2

AD's Japanese Aircraft pack has an A6M2, A6M5, Ki-43 and G4M2: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...mp;showfile=744 All are excellent quality. Dave is no longer modding but I think he ould be proud to have AvHistory flight models for his aircraft. Russ has done the P-47M and a Bf-109E. I know you need a G but either he or another modeler may be interested in upgrading the E to a G. He is still active so you may want to drop him a line. His stuff is excellent. The Mirage Factory has an excellent F4U floating around somewhere...I think it is an F4U-7 but may be easily backdated to the -4. Bpao would be the person to contact about that. And of course everything by Wolf-257 is really nice. -
Single aircraft purchases?
column5 replied to column5's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The only thing that has been mentioned is that the possibility of single-aircraft add-ons is being considered. Anything else is probably out of the question--especially anything that would require new programming such as task forces. -
Single aircraft purchases?
column5 replied to column5's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
LOL! No, I didn't intend it to be a trick. I asked that particular question because that is what I see as being the main impediment to the success of selling single-aircraft packs. I would buy them just because I am a completest, but I'm curious what others think. -

Question: Placing SAMs
column5 posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
How do you go about getting SAMs to show up on a map? Looking though the terrain targets INI I see entries for the following: SAMRadar SAMLauncher AAA I don't see any entries for mobile SAM systems? Is there a target type that I can add so that SAMs defined as "MOBILE_SAM" will be randomly placed, or do I need to change them to "MOBILE_AAA" or "STATIC_AAA"? Thanks! -
Question: Placing SAMs
column5 replied to column5's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
Rgr that. The only tough part was figuring out that I needed to set up a SAM radar as part of the same network as the launchers. Once I modded the Straight Flush into the Flat Face and Tube Arm things started coming together... One funny thing...I wish I had taken a screenshot, but since the SA-3 launcher was called "SA-3" and the missiles themselves were also called "SA-3" the launcher would show up in the game with four copies of itself loaded in place of the missiles! But I think for the purposes of NF4+ I will let the game place the SAMs randomly and not assign any specific ones. Thanks again to everyone who shared the infos! -
No, you're grasping at straws trying to defend your indefensible party. Look at the history of Democrats and the military, the meals-on-wheels programs, etc. With regard to the Haditha Marines, yes, its so great for them that they were found innocent of charges leveled at them by Iraqi insurgents. Now their careers in the Marine Corps have been destroyed. Great job by your boy Murtha and his cronies. And Dems don't do squat for returning vets. I'm interested to see you continue to try and weave your way through this one.
-
The concept of not putting yourself in harms way is often overlooked. The most basic lesson in self defense training is to be aware of who is around you and what they are doing, and not to go to places where you expose yourself to danger.
-
You are confusing the willingness to use the military with respect for the military. I think its safe to say that the party that is more eager to deploy our troops could have less respect for those same troops. Also, I love your pithy little aside about Vietnam "with Nixon continuing it." What the f*ck do you expect? He was elected in the middle of the war! JFK (Dem) started it, LBJ (Dem) escalated it and oversaw the deaths of 50,000+ Americans, and Nixon got us out in '73 with a semi-honorable treaty that the North then proceeded to break immediately. And Lexx of course knows that the Soviets had no respect for the individual soldier, throwing their lives away by the millions.
-
Don't forget Murtha throwing the Haditha Marines under the bus before any facts were known. Note: they have all been acquitted. Don't forget that the Democrat-controlled media has completely covered up the fact that a US Army recruiter was killed by a radical muslim in Little Rock (just an hour and a half from me) last week. Hell this list could go on forever.
