The screen shot of the month threads are one one our most popular features. The moderators attempt to pick a winner every month, but looking through hundreds of shots and scrolling through many many comments is becoming a big drain on time. This poll asks you to choose between two option on how we could move forward. 1. We limit the screen shot threads to screen shots only with no comments. This will reduce the number of posts and make it easier and quicker for us to go through all of the shots to pick a winner. 2. We keep things the way they are, allow comments, but ditch the choosing of a winner. Feel free to post your opinions and suggestions.

OK, its pretty clear that people like the "contest" aspect of the screen shot thread, so we will keep that. As you know, we are trying to introduce a monthly theme, October being "Autumn Sunset," but we don't want you to refrain from posting any shots that you really like. What we are going to do is allow any shots to be posted, but only judge the shots that are in keeping with the monthly theme. At least for now, feel free to continue posting comments.

60 fps average with all settings maxed out is not realistic in the SF series at this time, IMO. Maybe 60 fps as a peak, but not on average. I have an 8800GTS in a nice computer and probably average somewhere in the 40s with everything maxed except shadows on medium. Peaks in the 70s, lows in the 20s or upper teens. That is with 8xAA and 16xAF, driver quality settings maxed. Edit: Forgot to mention running at 1680x1050.

I can't make any promises...I'd like to say sometime in October, but it is mainly dependent on when we finish the A-7D.

Here are my thoughts on these matters: 1. ThirdWire games are, at their heart, simulations of tactical air power and that is where I plan to keep the NATO Fighters series focused. I also think that in the scenarios presented in the WOE campaigns, both sides would have their strategic forces held in reserve for the inevitable escalation--really, who thinks any such scenarios would not result in the end of the world? 2. Swedish, as well as Spanish, Italian, Greek and other NATO forces are hard to integrate into WOE because the map depicts the North/Central theater while those nations (except Sweden of course) would have been engaged in the Mediterranean. I'm not excluding any nations out of indifference or lack of respect, just trying to keep the campaigns believable. That said, there is a very strong possibility of Danish Drakens in NF3. 3. There is a mod that allows strips of road to be used as bases. I believe it is by JSF_Aggie. I have not tried it, though, and I would only include it if I could be certain that other squadrons would not be inappropriately transferred to those bases during the campaign. 4. AFAIK, there is no Tornado F3. Only the GR1A and IDS that I am aware of.
