Frontside Backside The patches I got while there as well. Left one from the NCO Academy in Bad Tolz, the one on the right was the USAEUR Command Patch I wore when I was stationed in Germany.

Was there when it happened. Not on site, but stationed in (at the time) West Germany. Buddy in my unit was on leave in Berlin and got trapped. Had to call in twice a day just to check in until he got back. He brought me a piece of the wall. I still have it.

"There is a time and place for everything" - Old Eastern Proverb There are FAR's and other applicable regulations and procedures for approval of airshows. If these two pilots were part of the airshow they should've been in compliance with what had been set up and approved for demonstration manuvers. Provisions are clearly outlined to the promoters of airshows as to what will and will not be allowed, what altitudes and so on and appropriate TFR's are issued for the coresponding block times as well as NOTAM's for public consumption. If they deviate from an approved script there are sanctions. If they just showed up and "crashed the party", they are lucky to only have their tickets pulled. They chose neither the appropriate time nor place. They chose poorly. The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has limits. - Albert Einstein -
The above will likely not last long unless it is changed. Just sayin'. READ the Basic Rule I posted 4 posts ago.......... More "Naked Chicks" Dave wanted "Chicks with Guns", so.............

Basic rule: Sense of humor is NOT universal. Keeping that in mind, if it is safe to be viewed at work or in front of teenaged children without being overly graphic or offensive, it'll probably fly. Otherwise, save it for yourself. Some members here are younger than a lot of people think there are here, and some people have and utilize their computers in an area where children can look over shoulders quite easily. Just sayin'.

"Golf and rugby were put forward by the executive board in August under Rogge's guidance, at the expense of five other sports that were cut — baseball, softball, squash, karate and roller sports." http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5jnx2wRLvYAjUAXw0oCm9_rsGT49QD9B7JJT01 I can totally see Rugby and the cutting away of what they did, but Golf?

I can't believe some/all of these ideas were rejected. I'd buy some of these things, wouldn't some of you? http://www.geekologie.com/2008/02/questionable_rejected_star_war.php ......and even more rejects........ http://www.geekologie.com/2008/03/more_rejected_star_wars_promot.php One of the biggest gripes I have with geekologie is that they NEVER provide links to where these things might actually be purchased/ordered from.

Their "Orbiter Mount" was a ruse, IMO. The payload would've allowed it to do something the west still cannot, deploy a significant number of MBT (T-80's) rapidly to a given theater of operations. Ours generally go by way of "slow boat" or rail (if able - but not to GET overseas). The massive Antonov can haul MBT's like nothing else can. BTW @ Paris, they had a mock-up mounted and not actually "the" orbiter. -

Not only possible, but ACTUAL. I saw it at the '89 Paris Air Show. To say it's big would be an understatement. HUGE doesn't really do it justice either. Just sayin'. BTW, I was there a week after the MiG bird ingestion -> corkscrew. Saw the scorched crater on the infield. Saw it a second time after the trip, from work. It was flying home and passed overhead (EDOT where I worked) from Taunus VOR eastbound. I don't know what altitude it was at, but it was still very big. -
Trying to keep it amusing and somewhat closer to "G" rated so it doesn't get locked, folks. Just sayin'.

Sea Scorpion.........though now extinct. Probably shopped from a screen grab of "Ancient Sea Monsters" with Zoologist Nigel Marven: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/3247691.stm And now, back to your regularly scheduled thread topic...................

Been scratching my head since first reading about it and I gotta ask: "FOR WHAT?!?!?!?!?!" The commitee is mostly left with a possible "token" conservative but I'm wondering what he has DONE to become a recipient? Does this in fact deminish the award as well as the commitee to just hand it out as if it were candy? WTF, Over?
