    Karma.
  3. I'm diggin' the Klingon ships (always had a thing for "bent-winged birds). Seriously though, the only update I want is the answer to "When it will be released?"
  4. Favorite Aviation Music Videos

A thread on another forum got me to revisit some of my favorite things. The fluid melding of great aviation footage coupled with an appropriate sountrack is what i'd like to showcase. Some of my favorites: The Apex that I have come across to date is featuring the Swiss Air Force with Evanessence "Bring me to Life". Cinematography is extremely well done and matched nearly flawlessly with the sountrack. Another great compilation is The Blue Angles with Van Halen "Dreams" F-15 Eagles with Sammy Hagar "Where Eagles Fly" with Creed "Higher" US Army Aviation on display with AC/DC "Thunderstruck" is my favorite aircraft. Just got a thing for "bent-winged birds". Wagner's "Ride Of The Valkyries". Air Force style set to Blur "Woo Hoo" Precision Air Drops is a "blooper" reel set to CCR "Bad Moon Rising". Humor can be just as cool and anything else. Just a few of mine to get things started. Anybody else got any they are willing to share?
  5. Race Card Back Fired

Just a quick review of a certain fact that seems to assit in the perpetuation of this idiotic dance; the United State does NOT recognize dual citizenship. While other countries do, such as Canada for instance it is the current (and long standing) policy that this nation does not. Unless someone can produce more than one valid passport with African AND American citizenship, there is no such thing as an African-American. Either you are or aren't an American citizen, stop muddying the waters and creating an idiotic gray area. Regardless or ethnicity citizens of the US are all Americans. Hyphenated, PC, illiterate dribble such as this will continue to prolong this kind of behavior. A brief glimpse of what it should be like occurred on and shortly after 9-11. We weren't devided by these kinds of artificial lines. We were ALL Americans United. As soon as these petty kinds of inferrences are eliminated the sad fact remains that America will, instead of being color blind, be blinded by the colors of it's peoples skin.
  6. Race Card Back Fired

Seriously though, until the current and perverted definitions of race are eliminated this will continue and perpetuate itself. We are ALL members of the "Human Race". Regardless of ones skin color, ethnicity or cultural heritage. Until the ACTUAL definition is truly accepted this kind of idiocy will continue. I have answered the census question the same every time I have filled one out. Race: Human
  7. DIY Flight Controls

Keep a log and take pics. It's kind of fun to do, and it'll help when showing it off after it's done
  8. Race Card Back Fired

Just me, but I wouldn't have a beer with the POTUS after making the remarks that he did, and yet still refusing to appologize. I don't give a s**t how PC it might be. I cannot control a lot of things, but I can control who I will and won't have a beer with.
  9. New "Model Aircraft" Gallery

I have some of an A-10 and a Super Cobra that were done by someone I know. Can I post those as well as ones of some of my WIP and finished ones? Also, second the querry on the 40K models.
  10. Modding the X52

    Thx, I'll look. @ Cyph3r, any pics?
  11. Modding the X52

Kewl, I'll look into that option.
  12. Modding the X52

Sounds like you need the proper drivers. @ Cyph3r, Any ideas how to stiffen it up any? I like mine well enough but for me it just feels like it's too light. I thought about spacers in the spring that is abound the base of the shaft to apply more pressure to stiffen the feel. Any other ideas out there on this isssue?
  13. Light Sabers

The "Schwatrz fight" from Spaceballs just came to mind as I was reading this for some reason. Not gonna make a detailed reference to male "sword fighting" as I have no first hand knowledge of the activity, nor do I want any. Really.
  14. Back from the taxidermist

Sooooo, you are aware that you have a "horned beast" emerging from between your legs.................right?
  15. one small step for a man

....3 steps backwards thanks to the dolts that erased the original tapes It was a great time. Too bad we've (humanity) been stagnant in a number of ways since.
  16. Light Sabers

Not Degobah, but............. ....and once issued...................TRAINING!!!!!! I'm the tall one
  17. Saw this...........

.....and thought "Negative Ghostrider, the parking lot is full." http://photos.cleveland.com/plain-dealer/2...day_july_2.html
  18. Saw this...........

Though it would be possible, it would also be extraordinary difficult to pruduce in this apparent circumstance. The Hornet is at speed (enough at low altitude to not lose altitude while 90 degrees on it's port wingtip) ad the building is stationary. Without losing resolution on the aircraft, if from a distance as speculated, something(s) would be much more blurry that they appear. Just sayin'.
  19. Saw this...........

Roughly aproximating the size of the guy on the balcony as being nearly the right size for a (near) 1:1 scale ratio with the size aproximation of a pilot, my estimate would be within a couple hundred feet and likely closer. Not knowing how "clear" of obstructions the flight path is in front of the Hornet means (if wide open) there is plenty of room to manuver free from obstruction hazards.
  20. Motivational Picture

Though the "arguements/allegations" aren't limited to the observability of the aircraft, no one is debating it's capabilities/performance when it's operational. The article sites that it's far below expectations in "Operational Readiness". It works great, when it's working, however it can't do squat when faced by a Sopwith Camel if it's on the ground.
  21. Holy "Pow" "Splat" "Bam"

What's the funniest thing you've read today? http://www.nypost.com/seven/07...ham__pow__178573.htm "As this was happening, someone is like, 'It's Batman!' I turn around and there's Batman in handcuffs," he said. BTW, there are pictures too!!! http://www.nypost.com/photos/g...hambrawl/photo01.htm
  22. Motivational Picture

Perhaps not? ************************************** http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2009/07/wh...jet/#more-14636 The fight over the future of Lockheed Martin’s F-22 Raptor just got a lot nastier. While Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and Congress fuss over whether to buy more of the $150 million-a-copy jets (not counting development costs), allegations have surfaced of serious and surprising problems with what is widely considered the world’s most capable fighter. One former Lockheed Martin engineer has sued the company in federal court, alleging that the company knowingly applied faulty stealth coatings to the Raptor’s skin. And today, The Washington Post connected the stealth-coating allegation to a series of Pentagon tests between 2004 and 2008 that revealed problems with the jet’s skin, requiring “frequent and time-consuming repairs.” The lawsuit filed by engineer Darrol Olsen, who was fired in 1999 for unrelated reasons, claims he “witnessed Lockheed commit fraud regarding the F-22’s stealth coatings. Specifically, from September 1995 until June 1999 when he left Lockheed, Olsen “witnessed Lockheed order and use coatings that Lockheed knew were defective.” Olsen — described as “one of the top materials and process, composites and low observables engineers in the stealth technology industry” — first took his findings to Lockheed officials, but was told to “stay out of it,” according to the lawsuit. He turned to noted Lockheed whistleblower Mike DeKort, for help filing suit. The end result of the alleged fraud, is an F-22 fleet that can only fly 60 percent of the time, according to WaPo. “The trends are not good,” Thomas Christie, former Pentagon top weapons tester, told the paper. It was apparently these problems, and others, that former Defense Department chief weapons buyer John Young was referring to, when he recommended, in November, that the Pentagon focus on fixing the Raptors it has, rather than buying more. A Lockheed spokesperson told The Post that “the issues raised in the complaint are at least 10 years old.” “We deny Mr. Olsen’s allegations and will vigorously defend this matter.” They’ll surely have to, as criticism of the pricey F-22 mounts, in what could be the program’s 11th hour. *************************** Allegations about the low observable coatings on the B-2 (didn't work when it was wet) made the news some time ago. Not sure if it is the same or a related material to that used on the F-22, but the problem is far from new. Also don't know if the "fix" implimented actually corrected the deficiency or just "white washed" the complaints made. Seems like a related allegation and it's possible that the heirarchy at Lockheed-Martin may just be performing the "same old tricks". Whatever the facts are, the truth will likely not be made public as it would not be in the best intrest of our National Defense. Transparency has it's limits (as it should).
  23. New Mechwarrior to come out!

Teaser Teaser 2 Teaser 3 MechWarrior Revealed Smith and Tinker and Piranha Games are working on a full reboot of the acclaimed franchise. by IGN PC Team July 8, 2009 - MechWarrior fans have been hoping, praying and anticipating a new game in the famed franchise ever since the last expansion pack for MechWarrior 4 was released in 2002. Now, seven years later, their prayers have been answered. IGN has the very first details about MechWarrior reboot that is currently in production at Smith and Tinker and Piranha games. Yes, that's right, reboot. Instead of this game becoming MechWarrior 5, the developers have decided to completely re-launch the entire franchise, calling this new title MechWarrior. We spoke to the two main players involved with MechWarrior. First there's Jordan Weisman, co-founder of Smith and Tinker and co-founder of FASA, the company that created the BattleTech universe that MechWarrior is based upon. Second is Russ Bullock, president of Piranha Games. You may remember the MechWarrior games published by Activision, MicroProse, and Microsoft. The latter actually acquired FASA Interactive in the 1990s only to shutter the studio in 2007. However, the software giant retained the rights to the MechWarrior franchise. After leaving Microsoft, Weisman engaged in various pursuits before founding Smith and Tinker in 2007. That same year, Smith and Tinker acquired the rights to many FASA properties from Microsoft, including MechWarrior. This new MechWarrior is set on the planet Deshler in the year 3015, and places players in the role of Adrian Khol, a wayward nobleman who prefers partying and shirking responsibility over his training and studies. However, when House Kurita launches a massive invasion to conquer Deshler, resulting in the death of his entire family, Khol discovers a purpose to fight for. There are ambitious plans for this new MechWarrior. The original MechWarrior games were limited by technology; now with modern computing power, the developers are hoping to really capture the sense that you're piloting a giant, walking war machine in the middle of an incredibly dynamic battlefield. While the two companies are still talking to potential publishers that could determine the final production budget, Weisman and Bullock explained that they plan to have a full single-player campaign, as well as support for a four-player co-op campaign, and a full multiplayer suite. One of the key features is a sense of information warfare, using everything from unmanned drones surveying the battlefield from above to light scout mechs relaying information to teammates. Weisman and Bullock both explained how they want every class of mech to really matter in this game; it's not just a race to the heaviest, most powerful mechs. The designers want to reward you for picking a mech and sticking with it -- you will gain experience and become better at piloting your chosen mech, and that will translate into better accuracy and damage with weapon systems. This way, a player could specialize in a light mech throughout the entire game if they choose. It also means there are multiple playthroughs with different mechs. The developers also said the game will change based on your chosen mech class. While the developers didn't go into how many mechs will make the game, based on the video trailer and the discussions, we know of at least four. There's the Jenner (light class), both the Warhammer and the Rifleman(heavy class), and an Atlas Prime, a feared assault-class mech. The game is being developed for the PC and the Xbox 360, though there isn't any idea of a release date yet, since the game is still in the middle of development and the companies are still talking to publishers. For more information, read the interview with Weisman and Bullock. We also dissect the trailer in a Rewind Theater. Check out the gallery for the very first screens of the game anywhere. Finally, keep checking back with us as we keep a very close eye on this exciting new project. Video

  25. http://www.foxnews.com/video/index.html?pl...listId=playlist FLIR imagery on patrol in A-stan. Regarding recent "concerns" over collateral damage/injuries of civilian personnel, this demonstrates the intricate resolve of the aircrew to spot, track and report on a group of individuals as well as their proximity to nearby village/villagers before asking for (several times) permission to engage with the most condusive ingress/egress/engagement route. Remaining on station for over 40 minutes from beginning to the conclusion of this portion of the sortie.
