  1. Very sad news indeed, and condolences to the families of both the crew. Some armourer has drawn the short straw this afternoon, and will have to make the seats safe before the bodies can be removed, I really don't envy him/her. Air defence is not just about high level intercepts, crews must be competent at flying their jet down to 250ft AGL too, after all that's probably where the bad guys will be in any shooting war. Here's a good example! http://www.airliners.net/photo/UK---Air/Pa...o-F3/1545895/L/
  2. Does anyone know if the Storm Shadow standoff missile is available for the Thirdwire series? I tend to lean towards modern RAF types in SFG/WOE and have most weapons in the modern RAF inventory, but the Storm Shadow still eludes me! Cheers
  3. Storm Shadow

That's great, thanks for the pointer Uhu!
  4. Storm Shadow

Interesting, I don't seem to "Apache" included in the WEAPONS.ini, and it's not listed in the 3rd July 2006 weapons pack PDF file either. Is there a more recent weapons pack than this one? I converted two of my Typhoon's weapons pylons to include French attachments, and it still didn't appear in my list (year set to 2009). Of course Apache is the earlier French sub-munition dispenser. The MBDA Storm Shadow has a single warhead, so I assume this has not get been produced for the Thirdwire series. If I was to get hold of the Apache, how difficult would it be to convert the data to produce a Storm Shadow?
  5. Some Royal Air Force flavour!
  6. This is a vital part of modern day operations that's for sure. Finally someone cracked how to do it in FSX/FS9 very recently, so I'm sure there must be a way this could be included in the Thirdwire series.
  7. This Taliban is about to eat my Brimstone!! Not the greatest screenie, but I thought it was kinda cool!
  8. Farewell Farrah Fawcett

It very sad that her passing has been overshadowed by Jackson though.
  9. Hi, I've just installed the EF2000 Typhoon on SFG, and have a couple of questions about the stores. I've intalled the typhoon fuel tanks and can't seem to get them appear in the loadout list. I've also noticed that Meteor, ALARM and Brimstone are mentioned in the aircraft loadout file, is Brimstone even available in SFG? I've also installed the Meteor, ALARM, TIALD 400, (downloaded from here) and again can't get them to show in the loadout screen. I've entered the required data into the WEAPONS.INI file (as per the readme files), and opened the .INI file in the weapons editor overwriting the previous file, but still no joy. I'm sure it's pretty obvious to others here, but I'm now banging my head against a brick wall, any help would be much appreciated! Cheers Justyn
  10. Scrub the above, I've found a fix for the problem. There was no TV data in the avionics file, so I borrowed the lines from the Harrier GR.7 and everything is now fine and dandy!
  11. My thoughts exactly, I cut and pasted the data for the TIALD, Meteor etc into the ini file in the weapons folder and everything now shows up fine! Thanks for the help chaps, it's very much appreciated! Now it just remains to work out why I'm still not getting a LGB/Maverick targetting display in the cockpit of the F-16's, as it's working fine for the Typhoon. The aircraft is loaded with all the necessary equipment GBU-12's with a Lightning targetting pod, yet upon weapon selection I can't lock a laser onto the target, any ideas?
  12. Ok downloaded that, deleted the weapons data.dat files, opened the weapons.ini in the updated editor and overwritten the previous file. Still none of the stores I've just added appear in the sim. I've noticed that there are two weapons data.ini files, one in the objects folder, and another in the objects/weapons folder why is that? I also noticed that the objects/weapons one has 2049 entries, while the SFG/objects version has much less at a megre 119.
  13. Hi mate, I opened the .ini with notepad. I downloaded the weps editor from here (WeaponEditor_042406.zip). I also downloaded the SFG October 2008 patch, and Blue Tiger enabler (whatever that is) from the Thirdwire website. The Readme file states: The Typhoon is set up specifically for WOI so some of the eye candy and instrumentation won't work in WOE/WOV/SFP1 until the latest patches are released, I have included a folder with the AVIONICS.ini file which will stop the Typhoon CTD in WOE/WOV etc.. drop this file into the typhoon folder. The cockpit actually works fine, and the MFD's do what they say on the tin. The Typhoon data and loadout ini files don't look any different, so I'm assuming that they function the same in SFG. As requested, here's the stations data from the Typhoon data.ini. Cheers for your continued help, it's really appreciated. // Weapon Stations ---------------------------------------- [AMRAMStation1] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=1 StationGroupID=1 StationType=SEMI_RECESSED AttachmentPosition=-0.88,1.3,-0.62 AttachmentAngles=2.0,-1.0,52.0 EjectVelocity=0.0,0.0,-2.0 LoadLimit=2000 AllowedWeaponClass=AHM AttachmentType=US,NATO,UK,USN,USAF,SWEDEN [AMRAMStation2] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=2 StationGroupID=1 StationType=SEMI_RECESSED AttachmentPosition=0.88,1.3,-0.62 AttachmentAngles=-2.0,-1.0,-52.0 EjectVelocity=0.0,0.0,-2.0 LoadLimit=500 AllowedWeaponClass=AHM AttachmentType=US,NATO,UK,USN,USAF,SWEDEN [AMRAMStation3] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=3 StationGroupID=1 StationType=SEMI_RECESSED AttachmentPosition=-0.96,-3.3,-0.46 AttachmentAngles=0.0,-3.0,56.0 EjectVelocity=0.0,0.0,-2.0 LoadLimit=500 AllowedWeaponClass=AHM AttachmentType=US,NATO,UK,USN,USAF,SWEDEN [AMRAMStation4] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=4 StationGroupID=1 StationType=SEMI_RECESSED AttachmentPosition=0.96,-3.3,-0.46 AttachmentAngles=-0.0,-3.0,-56.0 EjectVelocity=0.0,0.0,-2.0 LoadLimit=500 AllowedWeaponClass=AHM AttachmentType=US,NATO,UK,USN,USAF,SWEDEN [station1] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=5 StationGroupID=2 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=-4.555,-2.80,-0.511 AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0 LoadLimit=500 AllowedWeaponClass=IRM AttachmentType=SWEDEN,US,NATO,UK,USN,USAF ModelNodeName=pylon1 PylonMass=26.15 PylonDragArea=0.02 LaunchRailNodeName= [station2] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=7 StationGroupID=3 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=-3.557,-1.35,-0.58 AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0 LoadLimit=2000 AllowedWeaponClass=IRM,EOGR,SAHM.AHM,LGB,BOMB,ASM,ARM,TLR,2BR,2IR,TER AttachmentType=SWEDEN,US,NATO,UK,USN,USAF ModelNodeName=pylon2 PylonMass=26.15 PylonDragArea=0.02 LaunchRailNodeName= [station3] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=9 StationGroupID=4 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=-2.590,-0.35,-0.625 AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0 LoadLimit=2000 AllowedWeaponClass=IRM,EOGR,SAHM.AHM,LGB,BOMB,ASM,ARM,FT,TLR,2BR,2IR,TER AttachmentType=SWEDEN,US,NATO,UK,USN,USAF ModelNodeName=pylon3 PylonMass=26.15 PylonDragArea=0.02 LaunchRailNodeName= FuelTankName=Typhoon tank [station4] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=11 StationGroupID=5 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=-1.566,1.15,-0.685 AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0 LoadLimit=2000 AllowedWeaponClass=IRM,EOGR,SAHM,AHM,LGB,BOMB,ASM,ARM,TLR,2BR,2IR,TER AttachmentType=SWEDEN,US,NATO,UK,USN,USAF ModelNodeName=pylon4 PylonMass=26.15 PylonDragArea=0.02 LaunchRailNodeName= [station5] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=12 StationGroupID=5 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=1.566,1.15,-0.685 AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0 LoadLimit=2000 AllowedWeaponClass=IRM,EOGR,SAHM,AHM,LGB,BOMB,ASM,ARM,TLR,2BR,2IR,TER AttachmentType=SWEDEN,US,NATO,UK,USN,USAF ModelNodeName=pylon5 PylonMass=26.15 PylonDragArea=0.02 LaunchRailNodeName= [station6] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=10 StationGroupID=4 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=2.590,-0.35,-0.625 AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0 LoadLimit=2000 AllowedWeaponClass=IRM,EOGR,SAHM,AHM,LGB,BOMB,ASM,ARM,FT,TLR,2BR,2IR,TER AttachmentType=SWEDEN,US,NATO,UK,USN,USAF ModelNodeName=pylon6 PylonMass=26.15 PylonDragArea=0.02 LaunchRailNodeName= FuelTankName=Typhoon tank [station7] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=8 StationGroupID=3 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=3.557,-1.35,-0.58 AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0 LoadLimit=2000 AllowedWeaponClass=IRM,EOGR,SAHM,AHM,LGB,BOMB,ASM,ARM,TLR,2BR,2IR,TER AttachmentType=SWEDEN,US,NATO,UK,USN,USAF ModelNodeName=pylon7 PylonMass=26.15 PylonDragArea=0.02 LaunchRailNodeName= [station8] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=6 StationGroupID=2 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=4.555,-2.852,-0.511 AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0 LoadLimit=500 AllowedWeaponClass=IRM AttachmentType=SWEDEN,US,NATO,UK,USN,USAF ModelNodeName=pylon8 PylonMass=26.15 PylonDragArea=0.02 LaunchRailNodeName= [station9] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=13 StationGroupID= StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=0.00,-1.0,-0.9 AttachmentAngles=0.0,-1.5,0.0 LoadLimit=2000 AllowedWeaponClass=FT,LP,BOMB,LGB,RCN,NP,DLP AttachmentType=SWEDEN,US,NATO,UK,USN,USAF ModelNodeName=pylon9 PylonMass=26.15 PylonDragArea=0.02 LaunchRailNodeName= FuelTankName=Typhoon tank
  14. Cheers fella, I'm actually showing two loadout files, one is a simple config file, and the other one is a QMD file (whatever that is). I opened the QMD file with notepad, low and behold it's the same as the other one!! So, I've done everything suggested but still can't get the Typhoon tanks, Meteor, ALARM, or TIALD 400 to show up. And I'm no futher forward in getting the F-16C Block 50/52 to display the targeting screen for LGB's or Mavericks either.
  15. Ok I've tried most of that, and still nothing doing! How do I open the Typhoon loadout.ini file? I can't open it via the SFP1E extractor, so is there another program that's used for this? Now to confound this further, I can't get the LGB's to work properly with the F-16C Block 50 either, despite getting everything setup properly! I have the laser pod attached to the aircraft plus 4x LGB's all showing in the external aircraft view, I click to activate the LGB's then the laser pod doesn't show up on the screen! I've tried LITNING, Sniper and LANTIRN pods, none work. The really annoying part is that I had all this working on my previous install, so this is now getting to be pure frustration!!! My last install was the original SFP1, with all the update patches added. This one is Strike Fighters Gold, which I've taken to be the complete patched version? I've installed the SFG updates from the Thirdwire website, added the weapons pack, extracted the weapons.ini file with SFP1E, opened it in the latest weapons editor, saved to overwrite the original. So apart from getting into the aircraft loadout.ini file I really can't think of any more I can do.
  16. Hi Migbuster, Yes they all appear in the weps editor list, and the weapons files .BMP .LOD and .OUT files have been placed into the Objects/Weapons folder. I'm playing in the year 2009 onwards so the service date years all match up ok.
  17. Does anyone know if Deuces's enhanced WOE terrain is still available please? I've tried looking through the files here and didn't come across it. The reason I ask is that one or two other downloads here require this terrian to work at their best such as the Forest and Farms mod. Cheers
  18. That's great, thanks for that mate.
  19. Yeah I got busted from Wing Commander to Pilot Officer overnight, I don't remember the courts martial either!
  20. Why PLAAF didn't ntercepted?

Yeah never an F-18 when ya need one!

We have a similar thing here in the UK called Support Our Soldiers (website at: Support Our Soldiers) where my wife is is area co-ordinator. We'll be sending 12,000 parcels out to our lads and lasses on duty with the Army, RAF, RN/RM this Christmas. We did it last year and it's good to know that despite the politics, people still care about our armed forces.
  22. Under fire in my own backyard

I'm feeling for you guys, please stay sharp and look after yourselves, CA seems a real dangerous place right now.
  23. He's doing a GR.7? Whoo hoo!
