  1. Did a test run on the T-45 with Crusaders avionics. Guess i didn't pay attention to his PM as i ended up taking an aden gunpod along.I also couldn't make a proper report. So just a preview for now. I flew it against an F-15 Baz and made the mistake of going slow and going low early. As Caesar did i also find the lack of grunt to be a bit troublesome as i can't get high enough and fast enough to be able to gain energy against the baz so i placed the fight in an elongated two circles. With the Baz going at above 300 Kias and the T-45 around 280 Kias. In the end the My plane's small size and the combination of crusader's 20mm training rounds and the aden's 30MM granted me the win as on the 5th head on pass we were both on a good position and fired simultaneously the 20+30 combination shredding the Baz as he missed all his shots. After that it was a bonkers of a landing where i landed too hard on the nose gear. :) It seems that there is a BAE Hawk with a different pit.
  2. Cheers Caesar! Love what you did with the AI F-14. Thanks! This post is long overdue. I got two missions against Caesars Tomcat. First was on the Viper Team F-16C and the 2nd was with the stock F-16A/Netz as usual guns only. F-16C vs F-14B AI F-16A vs F-14B AI As usual its guns only. In the first outing i tried to keep the tomcat in sight at all times while trying to figure out how the the new set up matches with the US premiere dog fighter. Since i was on a viper the only course of action is to go round in circle. Wow! Great job here Caesar! What a difference. as opposed to being dragged into a slow energy fight the AI managed to maintain its speed around most of the iteration. It manages to maintain an average turn speed in the region of 300+ to -400 which allowed it to turn pretty well with the viper. Even though i was able to maintain status quo it wasn't as easy as holding stick and throttle all the way and i had to managed my throttle settings to maintain my position. in between the region of 350 and the region of 450 Kias the Tomcat managed to match and sometimes out perform the Viper. The odd thing was i was able to get an advantage by going at speed opposite the tomcat. When the tomcat raises its speed it was better to throttle down and throttle up when he goes below 300. In the end i was able to force the tomcat below 300 Kias but instead of slowing down to below 200 Kias and porpoising the AI performed a couple of well managed horizontal scissors. I got sucked in and made a terrible blunder. Luckily the Viper managed to save me from myself. At around the Five minute mark I decided to end the fight however i feel that the cross hairs for this plane is two small. and with my screen being 6 ft away it was hard to tell if i had a good lead which lead to a very curious ending which i would like to know your thoughts about. I was following it through a left hand turn and i felt i had a good enough firing solution so i fired. No visible contact was made and the F-14 flew on straighten out and continued to do a barrel roll which i believed was an attempt to make me overshoot. I closed in and realized that he was doing it inverted. I watched for a while as he continued to roll and lose altitude. He eventually hit the water. What happened to him puzzles me. Is the AI capable of blacking out? Did a round managed to damage the cockpit which killed the pilot? Running out of gas is a possibility but high improbable as i was on a viper which as 1/4 of his overall fuel load. 2nd fight was on the Stock viper. It has a good enough gun sight. I was trying to be aggressive and end the fight as fast as possible but the stock viper's performance is very different fron the viper team's jet. you can fly the F-16C with the throttle alone while on the F-16A you have to be on the burners constantly to be able to keep up with the F-14. Just a one circle series. some bad gunnery and the victory at around 2 mins. Last words. The Vipers Team's F16C are a joy to fly the only gripe i have is the crosshair which i believe is a true to life representation so that's not their fault. While it handles like a dream its not an uber FM like the ones on the Rafale and the Glorious Gripen. And Caesars FM mod was just a treat. I never liked going 1v1 guns only against the Tomcat as it is really under utilized by the AI but the way Caesar's Cat managed its speed and the horizontal Scissors made flying against it a "feel good" experience. It was a good feeling and i'm very grateful. Thanks!
  3. Dear Caesar, Mind sharing the data.ini? :) Busy playing NBA 2k15 with my cousins and other stuff but will try to get a DACT going this weekend.
  4. Kyot, -4 acts as a reserve force and will just lag behind a bit on formation and wont activate until -3 is either shot down or ran out of weapons including gun ammo. same goes for -22,23,24, -32,33,34 and so on. until the the first fighter in the command line is down or out of ammo they wont activate. Although there are several instances where -4 acts on his own and i think this are just rare occasion when the ai thinks its too damn stupid not to take action. :)
  5. @Robert33 - late reply. Yes it was the F1. I tried to fly it the other day for a DACT report but wasn't able to get any satisfactory result. The plane is quite a handful to control and you really need to be able to respond quickly so that it doesn't get out of your hand. The one thing that gets me every time is the planes tendency to suddenly roll when at the limits. I would need a set of rudder pedals for this. i cant do it with the ex3d pros twist rudder. On another Topic. Been taking this girl out on campaigns. Really love this jet. F-8J vs Mirage 2000D Guns only RC called bandit 10m at 12 o'clock. went high and slipped to the right to avoid a head on shot. As the Mirage passed underneath i rolled the gunfighter on her belly and pulled her in a loop diving down on the Mirage. After a brief moment of trying not to fully blackout i found myself in a left hand turn nose up with the mirage high up in front. He dove and i followed a bit of blind shooting with no hits. He went up so i yanked the stick up and placed her in full burners which placed he mirage back on my hud. He took a right hand turn and after few seconds he reversed to the other direction which was a very stupid move for him. I was able to pickup on what he was gonna do and position my gunfighter nicely. Trigger down too much lead. Aim at the back and work my way up. Trigger down and a millimeter of correction placed enough rounds on his ass to destroy his engine. To be honest i was surprised on the swiftness of the engagement. i was expecting the mirage to place me in a much harder fight. Sorry about that thing at the side i didn't realize it was there till i got the vid uploaded. kindly bear with it. Thank you. The two extras are from the first missions of my current campaign flying the D variant of the F-8. First was a Mig-17F who took out one of my guys. (a bit of revenge) second was a high altitude chase against a Mig-27. I thought i would ran out of gas or blow my engine but i was able to get near enough for a gun kill.
  6. Tried the basic lightning model from TW a while back. Again im not sure bout the FM's accuracy but i couldn't really turn with it any better than the F-104 as we know pulling G's above 430Kias is a sure recipe for a black out.
  7. It is very nice. I haven't flown against the Mig-17 but i flew it against a similar small agile plane realeased in the sane time period of the mid 70s. F-5E 74L Vs KfirC1_77 guns only. it was a one circle all the way which lasted for about 2 mins. The F-5 was able to turn with the kifir at almost any regime. It was only a matter of when i would get bored with going round and round in circles and start pressing the fight. In the ended it a brief black out moement, thje kifir going nose low to regain momentum I kept turning at the same altitude until i am right on top of him. drop down and his six kept the turnm. Trigger down. miss, miss, miss. Bleed off energy to under 300Kias and finally got a couple of rounds in the kfir's airframe.
  8. Thanks for reposting the Vid KJakker didn't realized that the link wasn't working. Sorry Eric. @Cougar. - it might be but since ive been having difficulty with two other AC today i think im just not putting enough lead. Maybe its from transitioning back and forth from a 20MM vulcan to the 30MMs of the russian cannons. Different ROF, spread and velocity ??? Did three Fights today but im afraid i can only post 1 tonight. rest are to follow. This engagement between the FA-18F and the Mig-29OVT is quite interesting. As i found the Bandit over Enemy Airspace with active Air Defense System a new element was thrown in. Dodging SAMs while trying to outmaneuver your opponent and trying to get a gun solution while it AAA illuminates your mirrors is a bit nerve wrecking and a lot of fun. How the OVT met its end will forever remain a mystery. Crashed in pursuit or got hit by his friends SAM/AAA? I havent flown the Hornets a lot especially the F model but i have to say. The scenario i found myself really made the plane shine. The modern ECM, the ample amount of decoys and its great agility gave me confidence to wade though all those ground fire. The Super Hornet is very very responsive. And between the OVT and the F it feels like the 18F is the one that has thrust vectoring.
  9. Nice post guys. Wasn't able to get back till now. Found an SU-35BM on the SF1 download section (but aren't those supposed to be banned?) but haven't installed it yet. i did however found an updated Mig-29OVT which i am pretty much interested in. So decided to took that for a spin. Mig-29OVT vs FA-18F Super Hornet ( i realized that i need to update my hornets) Guns only. The fight took around 4 and a half fun filled mins while i try to get grips on both fighters. The high alpha on the hornet must have pleased the AI as instead of trying to go for a one circle engagement he invited me to a mixed foght of verical reversals and yoyos. Overspeed on the merge at Mach1.50 (man can this plane accelerate). blackout on a right hand turn. Ended up in a head on after 1 turn. A quick pull just to scare the AI a bit. We passed and the Supah went high I followed. As i exited my loop the supah passed underneath and i initiated a left hander to try to get behind his tail. As i got behind his 3/9 line he initiated a downward spiral to aid his turn and speed. I then droped my nose to cut inside his turn and tried for a shot which didnt connect. He went for up which the Mig easily followed. on the way down i had him right in the middle of the piper and pulled. but it seems like i needed a bit more lead. He intiated a right turn and pointed his nose high to to start the yoyo. tried the guns again but still off. He went up again and this time i got a generous amount of lead and pulled the trigger. This time the 30mm connected and ripped off the left stab and the outer flaps. The supah was wounded but not dead. Sensei always said that if i ever gonna get into a fight, i need to make sure that the other guy wont be able to get back at me. Followed behind the wounded foe and lined im up nice and slow. Two short burst and job done. http://youtu.be/Z0w7c4iVygk The FM of the Mig-29OVT threw e off. Not really sure how a thrust vectoring aircraft handles but i thought it should act kinda like a rear wheel drive car on a drift course. This is what i thought it should do. Pull on the stick exhaust angles up in the same direction as the horizontal stabs Since the exhaust is angled up the tail should dip a bit which points the nose in the direction it intended to go. which should make it feel like it pivots somewhere up front. The OVt feels like it pivots on its tail. like hoisting a long heavy pole up by holding it on its base.
  10. Being in the burner doesn't always yield the best turn performance. As one member said managing your angle and speed can provide better results. Besides the FM on this F-35A seems able to accelerate on full pull in the afterburner with the end result being a blackout and sometimes understeer? :)
  11. Here's the second vid for the DACT. Sorry guys i forgot to include it. cant edit my post. dunnp why. @SantroM. you need the help of the FM Gurus for your questions. try posting it as a new topic or better yet try scouring the SF1/SF2 knowledge base. Chances are the answers are there. :)
  12. It seems that i dont have an Su-35BM so i used a substitute. SU35LSK. regardless of thrust vectoring or not the LSK can accelerate through a turn and in AI's hand is ridiculous in high speed. A bit tricky to manage for a human pilot but its has tremendous alpha/nose authority. I did 3 bouts earler 2 in the F-35A and 1 in the Su-35LSK guns only. 1st bout. i tried to turn with the LSK at high speed but the RWR signing meant his getting a nose on on me first. So pull hard and dropped speed to 300kias and blacked out at the process. got behind his 3/9 high. Roll down on him as he did a sharp turn which took him flying across my screen for an excellent shot. Trigger down.. WTF no hits? reacquired target and shot all my rounds into thin air. Either the LSK has a ghost model or i haven't quite figure out the right aim for the F-35. this videos is a showing of how bad a shot i was. bout 2 - went slow early on. After 1 and a half turn im already inside him. He went nose low and i followed after him to pressure the AI. I thought hell crash his jet but he managed to pull up. He reversed his turn and then turned back which placed him right in the middle of my sights. Trigger down no hits. Past the sun i decided to eyeball it. Got good lead and a long press got a few visible tracers and adjusted the stream with a bit of rudder movement. 4 rounds connected ad that was enough bring the LSK Down. 3 bout i was in the LSK. I really feel that the LSK out turns the F-35A in almost all regime at less than half throttle. however since the AI can turn hard without blacking out and its quite easy to blackout on the LSK and the fact that it takes 2 seconds for the sights to lock on means i didn't have time to get a shot off. The bout lasted 12 mins with the F-35A running out of fuel. It wasn't worth the upload and i didn't get the screen shot. Although i would love to master the jet since i just found out that it talks! (just needed to fix the cockpit position. Takeaways: though i didn't got any victory in the Su-35 LSK i do feel that its a very capable jet. All you need is a precise joystick and a patient and precise pilot behind it. In this case the F-35A is better as just about anyone can fly it. The AI do have a field day on the F-35 as it seems that it can control the plane at will. I now have a fave opponent in DACT.
  13. that's weird... have you tried taking off from a runway using a different fighter or taking off from a different airbase or even a different map?
  14. 5th Gen fighters are benign in a gun fight coz they're all lemons loaded with all the gadgets you can find for making BVR engagement easier! Haha. Just kidding. The F-35A though kept on the defensive was a handful against a tomcat. its low speed maneuverability. can counter the flaps down trick in a one circle fight. so going in a Yo-yo when it decides to go slow is almost always required. AI not being able to handle big fighters has been a long standing bug. though it might be my imagination but i kinda feel that the AI flies the better than the standard F-15A
  15. I think it got fooled by flares but not sure. It was i too far away to know what really happened. @cougar - As caesar eplained the phoenix has a dogfight mode. though i try not to use them as much and the AI also seems to reluctant to use them at closer range. I have seen AI tomcats resorting to guns even though they still have a couple of AIM-54s mounted.
  16. Yup. I wouldn't dare beam a phoenix at high altitude as i tracked one of those missiles flying at above 40K ft.
  17. Guys Just to clarify on the Netz vs Ali-Cat engagement; the Ali-Cats were loaded with AIM-7M and AIM-9M only, which at that range is more accurate than the phoenix but easier to break lock. @ Do335 - I was blinking my eyes in disbelief as well. What happened was. the 1st Phyton3 shot connected but the superb armor of the Tomcat just brushed it off as a scratch. Grumman is well known for pilot protection and fighter durability. Their planes can sustain heavy damage but are still able to come home. I love the fact that the game model was able to replicate it to some degree... or was the AI just lucky?
  18. it seems that i'm not able to edit the post to give my thoughts on the engagement so i'll settle for quoting my own. :P The fight ended in a mission failed and a loss wingman. having seekers to contend with the sparrows the Ali Cats were carrying placed me in a position of disadvantage but having a wingman is a great asset. as we get closer in range the lead cat fired at the closest target he can get; "me". I placed my plane in a climb perpendicular to his missile burners on. while slowly pointing my nose back to him in his direction. while slowly dumping chaffs. All this in hopes that i can avoid the unseen missile. While the lead plane is busy trying to shoot me down o got my biggest asset in this fight to shoot him down. By the time i got y nose around to threaten the lead my wingman got him. Splash one and its now my wingman's turn to be targeted as the second ali cat is on him. Fired a winder in hopes of making him break his lock on my wing bu he stayed on course right into the path of my Phyton3. Twas a good hit. At least i thought i saw the missile connect. Apparently the Ali Cat took a page off Connery's book and pulled a Red October stunt on my phyton as he kept flying. I made an erroneous command that cost me my wingman as i was down to my last phyton and in the spirit of revenge i made it count. Testament to the well deserved moniker "Iron Works"; Grumman has made their Tomcats durable. Looking at the log it was confirmed that my first python shot hit and im willing to bet it was around the cockpit area where Grumman usually places the most protection. Not only did it survive but it even manage to took my wingman before going down himself. As for the Netz, what can i say its as sweet as every F-16 pilot claimed it to be. I read that the F-16 has a bit of a trouble in high altitudes but aside for the slower climbing feel above 24k ft and the need to be in higher thrust settings i think the in game jet can fly this regime without any significant problem.
  19. Yeah. was about to edit to write the comments but you have beaten me to the punch. haha! Without a radar missile to counter the AIM-7s it took me too long to complete the mission in time. :)
  20. Feel greatly irritated working with unprofessional professionals. Anyone last nights engagement uploaded nicely. will just do the commentary later on. F-16Netz Vs. Ali Cat.
  21. @Do335 you're right about that on those Vampires. Was flying a fury campaign and i got into a lot of trouble with the vampires compared to the hunters and migs. Ended up placing a cockpit on the stock vampires to fly them.
  22. I only ever carry guns only during DACTS as i feel its the area i'm least proficient and your right, a seeker would have been the best choice for that moment. :) Saw a few posts back someone asking for a BVR engagement. As my most favored ride is the BVR King , i just couldn't resist it. The engagement would have been perfect except for a couple of issue. 1 - Coming from 2005 i changed the date of engagement to around 1995/6 so that screwed with the Su-30MK2s long range load outs and 2 - Looking at the log i found out that i was carrying a modified AIM-54ECCM which has a longer range, different angle of attack, and motor properties to replicate the data i got off some pro F-14 source material on the interweb, otherwise the tracking, ECM shielding, reliability and accuracy rate remains the same. Other than these two point its a standard intercept. 2 F-14B with 4x AIM-54ECCM 2x AIM-7 2x AIM-9 and guns vs 12 Su-30MK2 whatever missiles those were. At first glance 2 vs 12 might be a little one sided but without other elements flying an intercept mission with later model cats loaded to the teeth can be a little bit too easy against a flight of 4 and even 8. And this being one of the occasions where my AI got a 75% kill and i got a 100% kill ratio with the phoenix, I say its just about even. My first rule of thumb when flying intercept mission is to go much higher than my quarry. In my opinion this allows me to fire at Rmax since the missile will be covering more ground as it goes on the decent. The higher altitude also allows the missile to maintain energy better and since its looking down on top of the enemy's plane, the missile has a bigger target for the radar to track and hit. We were around 26/29K ft when i got tracked by the bandits radar. pointed my nose on the source direction and spotted the bandits on radar just over 100nm out flying at 10K ft. designated 4 Phoenix on the leads and as soon as were in range ordered My wing to attack, which he did. We closed in and lower my radar range to concentrate on the nearest group designated 4 phoenix and fired at about 60nm. The missiles hits at around 30nm at this point i assigned my wing to attack the nearest threat. selected the bandit closest to my nose and gave him an AIM-7 which downed him. By the time selected my next target my wingman has gotten his quary and the remaining bandits basically went off to run home.We went after each one with our remaining winders while the last bandit on the run got finished of by my wingman in a relatively easy gun kill. I was hoping for more excitement but it seems like after the enemy lost more than half of its force they went benign and just set a course for home. We basically got unopposed. The next report hopefully will be more exciting as i'm gonna make sure the bandits has a proper loadout.
