SF2 Series DACT Reports And Related A2A Discussions (Game only)
saisran replied to EricJ's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Nice flying Ceasar! Those reports are really exciting As for me i can't really get a good gun solutions most of them are lucky shots while the rest i run out of bullets. i have better results with missiles though. although those stealth planes can only be hit by Aim-9s. Need to learn proper manouvering with the tomcat. 2 question. Is the new Fm for the tomcat makes it impossible to get it into a flat spin? kept trying to get it out of control but it remains stable all the time. 2nd question is a bit off topic. Thanks for sending me the file btw. what control the ground image on the VDI? the one that scrolls as the plane moves along. managed to get the SF2 pit working with the tcs in the right place. Missile counter, bank and pitch working on the VDI for SF1 except that one. Im really excited to read your next DACT. -

Oh bummer, that excuse is so stupid. Let it be pirated and then go "apple".. might make them more money. Really love this game, the game is fun and the community is so helpful that it enhances the value of the product. whatever happens it'll still be the only flight sim for me and i know you and the a lot of guys here won't bail out on it. then someday things will work it self out. TW may have a change of heart or something. regardless i believe modders will persevere. -

I'm not a computer whiz so i don't really understand all this encoding stuff but i remember that someone was able to make a cat. extractor for SF1. My question is... is it really impossible to Unlock all the locked files without TW's permission? If he's intent on keeping it that way can he really stop all the geniuses on this site? -
how bout one for the F-14? Sept, Oct, Nov, Dec?

saisran replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
Changing the targets ini, i think i can do that i just have to copy the airfields from something like Europe right? but the retiling i dont know how to do that. as well as adding populated places. argh. maybe harder than i thought. -

I saw your post about changing the borderlimit on the Flightengine.ini then try to experiment in changing the runway in XXTarget.ini. now im able to fly mission using modern fighters on the Philippine Map. Now im gonna peruse Knowledgebase to know how to build a campaign. there's a lot i want to know like "if i want to put this object on this specific part of the map and so on". thanks man, That borderlimit change you posted helped a lot. works for both 1st and 2nd gen. -
Editing the Camera
saisran posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I'm going to embarrass my self by posting another question? It seems that i really can't do things on my own and has to rely on you guys. Well, you know that some model have a camera mode like the TCS on MF F-14. I was wondering if its possible to change the angle of view on this camera like making them face downward? so even if your flying level or your nose is raised up your still given a view of the ground underneath. If possible a detail list of what to do please. Thanks in advance. -

Editing the Camera
saisran replied to saisran's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Just experimented with the camera. well they also work nice with the A button. I just need to trim the setting for best result on manual landing. Right now i got the CameraAngles=0.0,-85.0,0.0 and CameraFOV=80.000000. I got some screens but do excuse the image quality. a nice view of the CAT's rail <br style="color: rgb(28, 40, 55); font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px; background-color: rgb(250, 251, 252); ">its nice to actually see the carrier when landing How come the AI makes it look easy? lolz! Thanks a bunch guys! oh yeah. I tried to make a separate mode for the landing camera by adding a different entry in the data.ini and avionics.ini. but it seems that you have to have another instrument in the cockpit. however there's seems to be a fixed set of instrument so it didn't work. Is my assumption correct or is it possible to add a separate camera mode? -
I have enough of this BS
saisran replied to Stary's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
That's just being lazy. i bet you guys could pull it off. make the fuze sensors and then post it on his site just to shove it in. -

I see. so that' i can't make it work. I was hoping i could make a landing camera out of it. Guess i have to make do with TW ILS. I'll just try to make it work on the MF model. Thanks. -

I tried to change the value of the pitch before i posted but i cant seem to get it to point at least 30deg down from a horizonal plane. iguess the numbers i'm using is too big for the game. is there a value limit? like if i want a camera pointing straight down what's the value? Anyway im gonna experiment some more. thank you very much! -
Carrier Landing
saisran replied to saisran's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Whew! after several attempt. Finally able to trap. The first time i thought i aint gonna catch anything. and forced the plane to drop. it dropped really hard but atleast im on the ship...kinda. The 2nd time i got the plane aboard was more like diving in the deck. my angle is very low im surprised i caught the wires at all. Although i won't call my landings acceptable (The navy would probably throw me off the ship) atleast im not crashing to the back of the boat anymore. im just missing the wires or im not parallel to the ship. funny thing on this pic. i got aboard just as another squad was leaving. im thinking in real life my ass would be chewed. Thanks for all your help. I'm gonna practice some more. -

Carrier Landing
saisran replied to saisran's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I'm really reluctant on that stick since im on a lappy and always in transit, with a very small hand carry. flight stewards might joke that i want to fly their plane. lolz Guess there's no going round it. @ fallenphoenix - thanks for the tips. so if i get what your saying. when the tip of my wing passes the boat left side i count to 10. then turn to face it from behind and then move in for the landing. starting at 800ft and descending 700ft per min. im not really good at naval terms. -
SF2: North Atlantic
saisran replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Knowledge Base
Well said. I feel the same way. The process of creation is very tedious and more times than not things doesn't go the way you planned. And often it's easy to miss out on some. On my part i'll gladly pay the $30 just for the F-14 avionics alone. I believe its the only one out there that closely simulates it. That alone would have probably taken half of their development resource. Give it time. TW has always gambled like this. As soon as he gets some breathing room something good will come up. -

HUD question "Airbrake ON/OFF"
saisran posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has a solution for this. I kinda have a shot memory span so i tend to forget the last thing i did most of the time, especially when deploying the airbrakes. Setting the HUD on easy lets me have flight info especially the Airbrakes ON/OFF displayed on screen, however it also clutters the entire screen with hundred of RED/BLUE text which is really distracting. Can someone please tell me if i can have the HUD setting on Normal/Hard but still keep that all important flight info (Airbrakes ON/OFF)on screen? Thanks!
