  1. I that case the game will greatly favor fast nimble a like the sabers. better practice the gunnery and head on approach. if you'require able to get him more than half the time on the game of chicken you'll force him on the defensive. you better prepare to be on the receiving end for a while. Cougar''s advice might actually help you out a lot. if you get the timing down you could yaw your plane out of his piper and placed your piper on him just within your range. it might give you that tenth of a second difference to put your rounds into him before he can adjust.

  3. If the game allows you to outrun the Mig- your best bet is to extend, circle round high and ambush him like cougar said. If legends is like dog fight on android this is your best bet (as long as there's no marker telling him where you're flying). Avoid loosing speed by trying to turn with the Mig-19. Zoom down fast and if you miss your shot keep going and turn your plane away from him, get back to a safe distance and reengage. You should always maintain the speed and altitude advantage. This is a very laborious tactic and will require excellent marksmanship. However if you can pull it off its a rewarding tactic. Edit: saw the video and it seems like there's a timer in the game so you dont have much time to prepare the stage for your attack.
  4. SF2 Rafale M Skin Pack

You had me on the Bebop Skin. Thank you!
  5. Just be nice and respectful and be sure to follow they're rules and they'll grant you access. The Viggen is one hell of a beautiful aircraft and a jot to fly in the game.
  6. Absolutely awesone. I can see Palawan in your map. That long island that looks like an arrm has several airports that can be used (and i'm sure the local government wont mind) by NATO.
  7. i'm an idiot. I was viewing the forums in my mobile phone and got you and cougar mixed up. Sorry.
  8. @Eric. as long as you don't fire for more than 4 secs straight and a avoid firing @ high Gs it doesn't jam at all. had the gripes on individual download, will tryout the pack Thanks and good fight also. Im kinda missing the tomcat right now.
  9. Alright, this confirms that i need a different Gripen E Purist says that a fighter isn't worth a penny unless proven in combat. Well, this fight seems to prove that argument as the highly decorated veteran went against the young pretender... F-86E vs GripenE Guns only! I'm really disappointed at myself for forgetting to hit the record button as i really liked how the merged into this fight looked like. The fight took less than 3 mins but i was only able to record about 1 and a half of it. I met the Gripen around 1k ft. I was trying to get a head on shot attempt but decided against it at the last minute so i peeled of about 15 degrees and turned back in. We were in a classic Hollywood shot. were both standing on our wing with the top of the plane facing each other, and real close. I can see the cockpit of the GripenE! it was awesome! I was in full throttle and i pitched up in a high g climb trying my best not to drop my Airspeed below 350 Kias before i reach the crest of my loop. in contast the gipen decided to bleed its energ in a tight high G turn. as i was coming down i was still at 350 kias more than 50 kias more on the Gripen and a lot of altitude advantage. continued a couple of Climb and dive series to maintain my airspeed and altitude advantage against the gripen which is trying to get around my plane by doing tight G turns and shallow climbs. I was set to begin my first attack when i remembered that i happened pressed the record key. He went past underneath me in the opposite direction. I decided to do a split S and saw him cruising maybe trying to reacquire my plane. anyway bad attempt i was too fast and way out. Shot back up fliped my plane 180 and dove down. I was risking a stall with this maneuver and if ever the gripen decides to come up I'm a sitting duck. Well, thankfully the Gripen was still lost in thought as once again i came down two fast unable to get a firing solution. Anyway, like they said try and try again. so took her up once more to do the same move, only this time i decided to throttle down on the dive so to lessen the risk of an overshoot. coming down at around 350 kias the grippen stared a right hand turn which the saber managed to follow effortlessly. Slowly but surely he gets larger and larger. I let the machine gun rip! trying to crawl up from behind the Gripen i got the Gunsight right dead center and when he straigthen out i let another long burst and it was glorious! Can't remember where i got the GripenE but it think its from one of the new ones. This means i should peruse the download section once more and get the good version. While the GripenC gave my tomcat hell this GripenE was utterly destroyed by the Saber! one of the oldest jet making mince meat of one of the newest 5th gen fighter shouldn't be right! :)
  10. Those were good fights Eric! I guess i need to re-download. Wanted to post a DACT as an answer to your findings on the Grippen E but this video is up first. People say that the Mig-15 and the F-86 are evenly match in the air. So wanted to see if the Mig-17 was really an improvement over the Mig-15. F-86E vs Mig-17PF Somehow i was feeling really cocky so i let the Mig closed in on my six and only made my move once i felt really threaten. If my break came a second two late i would have been dead. i was in a shallow left hand turn at about 230 Kias allowing the mig to close in. It got too close at less than a mile so slammed the throttle forward and began breaking right i heard him took a snap shot so i tightened my turn a bit more all the time lookin g at the mirror to see if i can sot him or his tracers at least. As the plane accelerates over 300 Kias the Gs started to build and each time i hear a cannon being fired i jerked the stick a bit tighter just enough to get out of his sights and still maintain my speed and turn rate. After a couple of turns i can finally see him. Like a wolf running down its prey the sight of the bandit exited me, the plane shudders as i unconsciously pulled more on the stick to get the nose around. Soon enough he cross my view... i unload a bit to regain energy and continued pursuit i almost went pass him as i failed to notice him flying level, trying to extend and gain energy. Thankfully i managed to avoid a major screw up. I lined him up and pull the trigger. The . 30 cals flew harmless by as i stat to overtake the bandit. I break away from the turn and took my saber up to convert speed into altitude. rolled back into the turn inverting the saber into a stepped dive, reacquiring the Mig i straighten her out for a Gun pass... again all my rounds seems to pass by harmlessly as my nose went pass he parked his plane right above my jet. I pulled up and was able to make another gun pass but again they all seem to pass throough the Mig harmlessly. Again i took the saber up to trade speed to altitude and avoid badly overshooting the Mig and ending up being the hunted. I placed her on her back for another pass. This time the Mig was coming up on an angle crossing from my bottom right to the center of my hud, i botch the judgement on where he'll be and made a mess of the attempt. I nosed up and rolled again into a dive for another pass but this time the Mig planted itself on the ground. Looking at the Log book confirmed that all of the first 3 attempts landed at least 8 rounds each. Which dealt a slowly progressing damaged to the plane that eventually brought it down. I think i did well on this fight. After all i did get away from my cockiness of allowing the opponent to get some shots off my bird. and despite being frustrated during the game as i thought none of my shots was landing, i was really happy to know that they were really good shots.
  11. Could you try the Grippen E? Chances are we hae the same model but the Grippen E i have bleeds energy too much and too fast and is a handful at slows speeds. In Ai hands it becomes a sitting duck as the AI tries hard to throw the nose of the grippen around in a 180 which bleeds off all its energy. If your in a jet with good low speed handling or good vertical performance its easy prey, and an AIM-9X will have a stationary target practice. Do tell if you find the same experience as i do. Thanks.
  12. @Cougar - Thanks. glad to know that I had improved a bit. Trust me I still have more losses to win ratio with the sabers. I had more time in the Fj variant so the 86 is a lot easier for me to fly. also really good write up. one of the clearest and detailed report I've read so far. nice! @Eric - you didn't even gave it a chance. After we slave against it in our fights you just went ahead and killed it like it was nothing. That does it I'm bringing sealed phoenix next time. haha.
  13. Lets go retro. FJ-3M Fury vs 2 Mig15 Started with the migs below 1k ft nose on my left and me at about 5k. Turned into the fight. they were crusing at below kias. My Fury in Full power racing up towards the pair and past the farthest mig. I went in and dove on it. I fugure the other mig had to turn around while building altitude and speed. I should have at least half a minute to dispatched the first bandit. Missed on the first dive, absolutely poor estimate and positioning. Went up again and follow though with a complete loop, adjusted to the bandit a couple of misses and bit of adjustment... splash one. At this point the Second bandit has already been able to build energy to match the Fury. (guess he was already building when i went for the farthest mig, i cut 3 mins off the video as it mainly consist of my flying in a straight line trying to extend so that i can meet the mig head on with an energy advantage and a long boring circle. I pulling hard and nose low i was able to get a rough firing solution which ended with a miss and an overshoot. I went up in to the vertical the mig followed and we did a couple of vertical circles. At one point i allowed my airspeed to drop below 215 kias and i almost went into a spin. By the time i was able to recover it was now a two circle fight. after a couple of mergers i was able to get nose on the mig first and this time my rounds were able to connect. Splash TWO! mission complete. Takeaways: the FJ-3M's Flight model is a bit more sluggish compared to the F-86's FM. This is a plane that will hurt you if you yank hard on the stick and be foolish with the rudder. n the past I had inadvertently placed the jet in a spin trying to get a gun solution well over 250 Kias. and maneuvers below 215 kias is not recommended without flaps, and since it doesn't deploy until well into 160 kias you can hardly make use of it. F-86E vs MirageIIIC Just took this fight to check how the F-86's FM handles compared to the fury. It was a pretty straight forward fight. Merge, a couple of circle and use of the vertical. I made a point to ensure that im always above the Mirage as i was concerned about its high alpha and afterburner. As it turns out i was able to out turn the Mirage easily and the afterburner didnt made much of the difference as i was carrying a lot of energy into the fight. Got into the mirage six and set out a burst. he dropped altitude but kept on flying so i dove back in to finish it off. 20+rounds of 50 cal damaged the mirage and a further 80+ destroyed it. Take aways. The stall eveloped is roughly the same as with the fury and the saber, but the saber handles lighter and smoother. All in all it was probably the weight penalty of the carrier gear that made the fury felt more sluggish. Shooting them 6 machine guns was a nice deviation the vulcan. @Cougar - yup experienced it against a TW Mig-21. Which i was chasing with an F-8. the F-8 was suddenly out of fuel. Debug reveal that the 21 was also out, but was still in afterburner.
  14. This is basically the safest strategy to beat these Daltas. Though i tend to try and not get caught up in the endless carousels as it gets boring for a long time. And sometimes. The AI keeps burning the Burner at 0.0 lbs of fuel which is cheating. :) @EricJ - Good Kill.
  15. As Caesar said TW for the A and TMF for the D. Oops. i forgot to mention that i switched to the D model on the third bout. I was getting nowhere in the A model. The D model at least has better energy retention and has better roll rate at low speeds.
  16. Been dog-fighting with GripenE and it seems to me to be a bit of a pushover compared to the Rafale. I think something is off as the Sea Gripen i flew before was a top tier dogfighter. So i installed the latest Gripen C i could find and fought it using an - A model Tomcat. This report consist of 3 bouts Guns only. 1. me in the A model where sent the A in a flat spin at 2000ft. 60kts nose up, flaps in full I was side by side with the Grippen C i gave the tomcat full rudder and right stick in an attempt to cork screw the nose into the Grippen C which proved to be more than a match with the A model in a slow down fight. Prior to my spin the Grippen had a couple of shots in which riddled my wings full of holes and flamed one of my engine. 2. Still in the A, I pushed low into the merge to place us in a head on approach in my attempt to pressure the Grippen as early as possible. After the merged i pushed up int the vertical and he decided to be stupidly aggressive and performed a a split S (i think, Judging on how he quickly lost altitude) which planted him on the ground below. Or he could have placed too much G on the Aircraft in his aggression which broke the plane. Here's a vid of the highlights of the fight. Either way, no gun kill was achieved despite the gripen being able to land a couple of hits on the tomcat. Going on the highspeed route just placed us on a stalemate situation and with the AI being able to burn the burners at zero fuel keeping on it will be my funeral. going low and slow doesnt work either as the A doesn't have the thrust to balance the tomcat at 100Kias. 3. The fight started with th Gripen's nose on my 3. turned into the fight and we went on a 1 circle fighter starting from sustained turn of 400+Kias to 300+Kias. The grippen out performed the Tomcat by doing an aerobatic maneuver where he extended then did a 180 and got my left quarters on the pass. Tighten the grip on the stick and flew more seriously. For most the fight the Gripen and the Tomcat flew different profiles against each other. when hes cotting the horizontal i was crisscrossing in the vertical. performing loops and yo-yos in an attempt to catch the Gripen offgourd with something unexpected. It was a chaotic furball so i can really explain what happened. Eventually we got slow and though a series of reversals i was able to push the gripen in-front. Took as many shot as i could. A burst landed which took most of the gripen's control surfaces ending the fight. The Gripen C is an excellent fighter. It took all that i got to shoot him down and he was able to land enough shot on my Tomcat that it did more damage than i thought. If you watched the video, you can see that i landed the tomcat with one wing. This is due to it breaking off after doing aggressive barrel rolls on RTB. That for me was the highlight of this DACT. If the fight had pushed on any longer and had i placed more G's on the Aircraft i would have lost. I just love it. A Grumman cat was heavily wounded and suffered more pain due to my stupid stunts however, as is the tradition with Grumman's Iron Works; no matter how badly hurt she is -she still managed to bring me home. :)
  17. That would have been a harder fight than normal. The Tomcat is and heavy enough to notice weight and drag penalty of the drop tanks. Although some Tomcat driver says they engage into battle with the tanks on. They also said that its unless they're up against a Mig-29. In my opinion the rafale is a tougher cookie than a Mig-29.
  18. Good ones Cougar! it seems that from the Data derived from the combination of our DACT reports the the Rafale seems to favor dying in a right hand turn while on a slight climb. :P Took the D Model against the same Rafale. in the same scenario. First half was mostly the same as the first half of the earlier bout Albeit a sudden interruption which made me lose focus and almost became a lawn dart. After which i tried to fly with the Rafale. build enrgy, turn hard and repeat. The Rafale felt offended and started a horizontal scissor and worked as i momentarily lost sight of him. To counter this i went for a vertical scissor instead. After the head on pass which placed us both in the same plane for a full on scissors i decided to turn on him in an aggressive downward spiral and somekind of a Split s. i was hoping to cut the corner and found him somewhere in front but he managed to kept behind my line so i took the tomcat in a climb inverted the tomcat in dive and a roll which placed us in another merge which reset our position at low altitude. Enduring high G i yanked the stick to put my cat's nose on the Rafale first which was trying to build up energy instead of being aggressive. Followed him on the turn trying to get him to bleed energy which the Rafale responded by a reversal. At this point my tomcat seems to have halve its fuel and following the Rafale on the vertical was easily done. The Rafale tried to shake me off but i pitched and rolled the tomcat back into position. The Rafale break hard and reverses trying to push me in front snd i responded by popping the speed breaks instead of decreasing power as i didn't want to loose the tension. The fight ended with the Rafale underneath my gunsight lighted the burners and pitched up sharply going for the vertical. His silver wings gleaming in the bright sun was a very tempting invitation to shoot. Naturally i obliged. SA is really a big factor in a fight. by having occasional glimpse of my airspeed i was able to manage the plane a lot better. And since at this time i didnt lost sight of the bandit that much i was able to have a better understanding of what i need to do. After fighting the Rafale i decided to go ahead and do one with the Viper. After a series of turns and reversal i managed to have the tomcat track the viper smoothly across the sky with the help of the Airbake. I really like fighting against F-16s. As the fight always tend to be smooth and meticulous but still remain very difficult. @EricJ: you sould definitely join in on the fun.
  19. Here's my first attempt on the Rafale C. On this bout i chose the B model which meant that i don't have those Airspeed, G and Altitude readout on the tomcat's HUD so for the entire fight i wasn't actually sure of how fast i was going. F-14B(96) Vs RafaleC-F4 Guns ony. The fight started with the Rafale closing in from the Tomcat's 3. I turned towards blowers to full u turnd my nose to engage. This began a high speed circle with me blacking out from time to time. Due to the Rafale small size and flat cross section it was very difficult to track without the use of visual cues. Just within the initial two mins of the fight i lost visual 7 times. I only knew that he was somewhere behind those thick cockpit frames. The biggest error i made is when i lost complete visual during a turn reversal which placed him on my six. finally giving up on trying to look for him manually i hit the padlock and immediately saw trackers coming my right rear quarters. My pride as a Tomcat fan was stroked, i was determined to get the Rafale no matter what it takes. Kept the throttle locked on pull power and pulled the stick all the way back. At high speed the canard and delta configuration of Rafale and its light weight and powerful engines allows the plane to cut corners tightly, accelerate and rebuild energy out of each turn with great efficiency.Trying to keep up with its high alpha on faster speed makes you susceptible to black outs. This is why i decided to force the fight at slower airspeed and hopefully drag it at low altitude as well. So hard right hand circles the tomcat's screaming at me to ease up but i pleaded her to bear it keep the Rafale in sight. Feeling threatened the Rafale lit its cans and tried to escape the Tomcat in a climb. I was able to get some lead but the rafale has the advantage in thrust to weight and i wasnt able to close up. Tried a couple of burst but none connect. The rafale continued to dive to the left but it change course and pulled tightly to the right. It was an opportunity but i failed to get the angle correctly. Continued the pursuit and at one point got slow enough to drop the flaps. With the Tomcat being at his back a lot closer, the Rafale tried several reversals and maneuvers which i countered by cutting up wen hes going down and nosing down as hes going up. Finally he ended up reversing to the right and i was able to follow. Trying to keep the lead as best and as steady as i can i let out 3 bursts with the final attempt connecting. With the Rafale in burning pieces i went home and landed the Tomcat on a nearby friendly airbase. The RafaleC-F4 is a very difficult opponent which is probably as good if not better than the Grippen. Thought out the fight the Tomcat was screaming at me as i push her to her limits. Since the fight was strictly 1v1 i was able to play on one of the tomcat's strength without worry. Flaps down at low speed and low altitude, the Tomcat rules!
  20. I am using padlock view in combination with manual panning. The problem i have with padlock is that it can get disorienting when each time the screen flips one way to the other. But like you said. i might get used to it.
  21. @ EricJ - Will definitely try a bout against the Rafale. But please make do with this one first. @ Caesar - This corner is kinda missing your DACTs man. Hope to see one soon. :) Alright! I've always been jealous of guys flying the sim without the markers and read outs, but due to my modest hardware i've always felt the game unplayable without them visual aids. But i had to try. The engagement resulted in a full 10 mins of Aerial Chaos! F-14D vs F-15SE Guns only. I decided to start with a an opponent that is easier to spot visually. I made a blunder of the recording so the vid cuts in about 15 seconds after the merge. The best thing about the F-14D is that the HUD displays necessary information crucial to the dog fight. every once in a while i can focus on it to get a bearing on my airspeed and altitude but for the most part its just guess work. Due to my low graphics discerning the the characters inside the cockpit very difficult and trying to spot an enemy even more harder. because of this i ended up forcing my Tomcat to fight real close. and chased more rather than strategies. There were a couple of moments that i just thought that i was too close to miss, and even without the radar lock the sight level to miss the big target but they did. After several botched opportunities, losing visual of the bandit and blacking out a couple of times... I cheated and went to external view. This allowed me to put the tomcat above and behind the eagle. predicting the eagle's flight path i position my tomcat kept the sights level as to allow for an ideal sniping platform. My prediction worked and i saw the eagle coming up heading towards the dot. Targeting the pilot's helmet (aim small miss small) i squeezed the trigger long enough and a stream of 20mm streaked towards my proud prey. I missed the canopy i did managed to get the lower left half of the Eagle which was enough to take out the left vertical tail and do some more damage. The Eagle and the Tomcat is really a good match. They are roughly the same size but fly better at different envelops which at times crosses against each other. This make them evenly potent at dogfights. After experiencing this fight i would really love to have head tracking( TrackIR is too expensive and FacetracknoIR still doesnt work) as viewing it with the mouse is a bit of a chore. i wasn't able to regulate throttle movement as i have them assigned to my mouse hand controls. This is a new playing field for me which really raised my enjoyment of the game.
  22. Nice fight. Out of all the planes available in SF the viper really does provide the most challenge without being a UFO.
  23. So last night i tried to do a DACT with multiple bandit engagement with the F-14D against modern fighters with modern armaments in their respective Air to Air trim (means Aim-9X and Aim-120 and their equivalent). The end result is either i killed them from very very far away or i get shot down by one of them as i tried to close in to make it more exciting. So i eventually end up with guns only load for each fighter 1x F-14D (06) vs 2x Su-37 and 1x F-15SE. I removed the load but forgot to change the positions of the planes so i ended up. expending most of my fuel just trying to catch up with the bandits. The Sukhois wen't down without much of a fight. The fist one trying to outrun me at high speed weaving left and right as we go between 450 Kias and mach 1. I got a good look but the bullets seemed to pass through the terminator so i weaved about wasting ammo to finally get the kill. the second one slowed down to below 200 Kias which made it an easy prey as it was flopping about. The Silent Eagle was more of a challenge as we were turning at high speeds and high Gs. used some vertical maneuvering and with low ammo in mind i decided to take it more seriously and picked my shot carefully. I didn't brought my A game but i did just enough to win. Guess coming against the best dogfighter (F-16) in an unfamiliar jet was enough to make this fight relatively easier. I decided to do a quick 1v1 against the F-15SE. the date was set to 2015 so the load out was. F-14D 2x AIM-9H and 6x AIM-7P, Fuel Tanksvs F-15SE 2x AIM-9X 4x AIM-120C I edited the RCS Data of the F-15SE to make it harder to detect and lock. Although i managed to locate the F-15SE about 50 Nm i wasn't able to lock it until i was under 25nm. I flew low and bast keeping the F-14 in a large round cicle closing slowly in an attempt to put my plane in a position where he can put all 4 AMRAAM on my way. (i also gave the SE Multi Track and Shoot Ability which means my RWR wont warn me of the incoming missile and due to the lack of an observer. the Possibility of no missile call as well). My tactic worked and i was able to close in against the Eagle and get the fight inside the phone booth. We merged expecting a AIm-9X or An AMRAAM to be shoot at me as we closed but the Silent Eagle remained silent. After a couple of turns i managed to get behind the SE and Fired of a winder which tracked beautifully and splashed the Silent Eagle. I cut off the trip towards the merge as it was mostly boring to watch.
