Pat Wilson's Campaign Generator (today version 15.0) has done a lot to enhance the solo play of RoF (with a notably more aggressive AI) but I still come back to OFF every time when I play solo. I use RoF mainly for multiplayer missions and campaigns with my squadron Jasta 5 where I can fly with a bunch of great guys. I've also learned a lot on dogfight by flying with others which are far better than i am and give me precious advice. Most of the time I drive two seaters because I'm better at reco/bombing and someone has to do it anyway. "Fighters make the news while bombers write history".

Full HD TV instead of a Monitor - What a great vision!
corsaire31 replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I often use my TV screen with my laptop to play some Total War games, which allows me to sit comfortably in my favourite armchair, as I only need a wireless mouse to play. Also the sound goes over my home cinema ! For flight sims I prefer a close up view on my 27" Iiyama monitor. -

Simply cannot get this game to run under Windows 7......
corsaire31 replied to igor711's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I know it won't help you much, but I just reinstalled a couple of weeks ago OFF on my new PC with Windows 7 64 bits and had no issue whatsoever (was running with Windows XP before) I have CFS3 on DVD so no need to install it. I installed OFF Bhah + 1.32 superpatch + 1.32 mini patch + Hat in the Ring + update 1.47. Then I configured everything according to Olham's post and picture ( image quality, overrides and texture info) + personal SIA/RSS settings for my campaigns. Only issue I had was a sound problem with Andy's sound mod, but was easy to solve with Andy's advice. Couldn't it be a graphics card driver problem ? -
Sweet FX or the easy way to make OFF look "wow"

Yes I know you juste have to delete this assignment as there is already another key for ATC ( and for myself it is on my joystick...) -

Sorry I got confused with ENB, in fact you toggle SweetFX on and off with "Scroll Lock" key. I forgot because I always leave it on. To give you an idea, here are two unedited pics from FSX, with (first one) and without (second one) Sweet SFX. For FSX it really changes the game ! (FSX pic taken in Prince Rupert, Canada - Ultimate Terrain X Canada - Ground Environment X North America - Flight Environment X - freeware Prince Rupert airfield) -

I'm running the 1.5 version for FSX on my Win 7 64... but FSX is an oldie from 2006 ! I know it also works with Rise of Flight. Both run on DX9 though... Yep that's the way it works... then you can toggle with/without using Shift - F12 at least on my PC. Some guy at the RoF forums had developped a UI called Flight FX which allows you to change the settings "on the fly" with a graphic interface. -

I use it for FSX. For OFF I use the ENB coming from Lothar I think. -
After my photo blog at http://corsairephoto.over-blog.com/ which I have been running for two years now, I just started a new blog in french/english called "Cors-air" at http://cors-air.over-blog.com/ It is about my air adventures in both civilian and military flight sims, as well as interesting news I can grab here and there on my daily forums reading. I hope I can soon open a new "WOFF" tag !! Feel free to drop by anytime... any comments on the blog are welcome And a special thanks to Olham for some info I picked up from his posts to bring them to my french speaking friends !

Hi ! Only to say my February 1917 battlefield has successfully migrated from its old home in my XP 32 PC ( Duo E8500 - HD 5770 1Go) to its new home in my new Win7 64 PC (Core I5 4670 Haswell - HD 7850 2Go OC) Lt Hans Georg Gaertner with 60 missions under his belt in RSS SIA environment is ready to go back to the airfield... (just downloading last Andy Sound Mod 3.3 to update) I'm glad I only do this every 5 years... IL2 1946 has also migrated, together with my Total War series (Rome with RS2.6, Mediaval 2 with Stainless Steel 6.4 and Third Age 3.2/MOS 1.50, Empire with Darthmod Ultimate and Napoleon with Darthmod - not interested in medieval Japan). Still have to migrate Rise of Flight, FSX + addons and Xplane 10... busy week end !
-
Thks again, Andy, will try that and see what I can do. I am at present struggling with my reinstall of FSX and addons and also need lots of tweaks ! (another Microsoft software that has trouble working with Microsoft OS...lol) Will let you know what happened with this tweak. Didn't see any bad english in your msg, and by the way I'm french...

Did the Halberstadt D.II shed its wings?
corsaire31 replied to Hauksbee's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I still think it it a very good sim with its drawbacks like all have (OFF has some too...). Nothing like flying a squadron mission with 10 other guys you've been weekly flying and training with for the pas two years and a human gunner in my DFW... Updating to my new machine I can now have all the sliders on high and it looks great in 1920 HD on my 27" screen. But the forum is not a great place, just besause of a few individuals with lots of free time always beating the same old horses. I only drop there once in a while for updates on Pat Wilson's splendid campaign generator. As much as I like Pat's work, for solo flights I always end up spending a lot more time in OFF. -

Besides this, good Spad drivers would never go into a turning fight at low altitude with Halberstadt DIIs... -

Good Spad drivers would never go into a turning fight at ground altitude with Halberstadt DIIs ... Never happened to me yet in RoF to loose the wings on the Halbie DII but I drive carefully... always go down in spirals, same with Albatros DII. I only trust the Pfalz DIII for deep dives and brutal ressource ! -
Hi Andy, thks for reply. I am using the Realtek sound from my sound card ( Gigabyte Z87 ) and of course after install I updated all drivers, including my HD 7850 GPU. I flew another mission yesterday evening, and it happens only near my airfield which is very close to the front (in fact the front is almost around the airfield, time to move I think... ) Every time there is a series of explosions from the front, it lowers a little the engine sound. Anyway I can live with it until I find a solution... By the way very much enjoy your last 3.3 sounds, thks for the good work !
-
Only small problem : with or without Andy sound mod, I have some "cuts" in engines sounds (or rather level going up and down) whem other external sounds occur like explosions near the front. Any suggestion ? Ddn't have that at all on the old rig...

Lots of Crumpet Warbirds
corsaire31 replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Nice post, Olham ! -
Strange... check if you don't launch the game with "Mods on", could explain it... Have been flying with Olham yesterday for an hour no problem.
-
I fly both, OFF for the solo campaign experience and immersion and RoF for the multiplayer coop missions and campaigns and the pleasure of flying with friends. I like both.
-
Nice video, they sure did beat the crap out of that airfield !

I'm flying at the moment a german campaign with Jasta 5. I use following mods : I have flown over 50 missions with Fokker EIIIs and Halberstadt DIIs and never had one plane from my flight or other flight taking off with me crashing in the trees.

Dear oh Dear... We Need WOFF
corsaire31 replied to CaptSopwith's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I pop in daily to have a look but don't have much time to read/write, I'm too busy flying !! -
Having a few hundred carrier landings (with a good proportion of missed ones...) under my belt in different flight sims from Microprose 1942 PAW to IL2 1946 - Pacific Fighters, I entirely agree with you with 1. a carrier landing is a "controlled" crash landing 2. the F4U is the most difficult US plane to get on the deck ! It's even difficult to land on a dirt airfield due to this lack of forward visibility. Also the "W" shape of the wings was made to shorten the landing gear which woulf have otherwise been too long due to the huge size of the propeller. "The combination of an aft cockpit and the Corsair's long nose made landings hazardous for newly-trained pilots. During landing approaches it was found that oil from the hydraulic cowl flaps could spatter onto the windscreen, badly reducing visibility, and the undercarriage oleo struts had bad rebound characteristics on landing, allowing the aircraft to bounce out of control down the carrier deck. The first problem was solved by locking the top cowl flap down permanently, then replacing it with a fixed panel. The undercarriage bounce took more time to solve but eventually a "bleed valve" incorporated in the legs allowed the hydraulic pressure to be released gradually as the aircraft landed. The Corsair was not considered fit for carrier use until the wing stall problems and the deck bounce could be solved. Meanwhile the more docile and simpler to build F6F Hellcat had begun entering service. Corsair deployment aboard U.S. carriers was delayed until late 1944."
