The mig 21 "lancer"

Yeah, I never got why the Sovs used to clutter up their cockpits like that! But then again, it was a common practice to have cluttered cockpits in the 50s and 60s. -
Mig-27 won't work, damn lazy Mig!!

F-22
SayethWhaaaa replied to bingo's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Yeah, I never said it was at the top, you gotta scroll down below the folders. The folders are shown first, then all the aircraft not relevent to those folders (that is to say anything that's not an A-10, F-15, F-16, F-18, F-22, Mig-29 or F-22) is shown individually below the folders. It's the sixth one below the F-14D. You can't miss it. Have a browse through there because there's a tonne of aircraft in that folder you might like In any event here's the link directly to the F-23: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...p;showfile=3403 -

Anyone ever stumble across this...?

So I was playing around with my old school Aussie Navy Scooters the other night when I got jumped by some J-7s. Not realising i hadn't switched to AAMs, I hit fire anyways and something odd happened... I didn't get sequence shots at the time, only just before i killed it: I recreated the situation against another set of foes, but they turned out to be Scrapper's bloody Mig-29OVTs who promptly shot me down. I have a very bad record against them... :blush2: directly after this last shot, I was killed by the plane pictured, bastard!! :threaten: Now I wasn't using modded weapons (this being the standard GBU-12E), the only altered ones I have are AAMs. The odd thing was that in the first two photos, the bomb almost overshot the J-7, swung around and flew right up it's tailpipe. I thought maybe I should lay off the but I quit smoking a while ago... -

Yeah there is, in downloads just go into Modern Era Aircraft folder and scroll down. It's below the Kfirs and above the Viggen. -

The mig 21 "lancer"
SayethWhaaaa replied to stalkervision's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I've been hearing on the defence grapevine that Elbit was keen to add integration software into the LanceR C's to allow them to fire Amraam/Amraamski but it was rejected on the grounds of cost and capability. Even when Romania had their Mig-29s in service, Amraamski wasn't used (despite having the potential to upgrade the 29's radar for its use) and when the decision to updrade and maintain the 21s was made, using the R-77 didn't fit into the new operational profiles planned. Romania did use ealier generation R-27s however, and they were considered suficient. The cost to upgrade to the requisite radars, plus buying a stock of new missiles as well as training for their propper use, not to mention storage and maintenance was considered too costly for an already cashstrapped AF. I dunno, from what I've been hearing, they seem to be doing nicely without them... -
chaff and flare
SayethWhaaaa replied to bingo's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
On average, most aircraft I've added into the game have 25+ chaff/flares which can be frustrating, especially since the J-7s I have in game give the impression that they have leading edge CM (countermeasure (oops, almost missed the "o" out )) technology I used to find that before I started modding my aircraft that the AMRAAMs/AMRAAMski were pretty much a silver bullet at medium ranges but now, it takes me at least two at medium distances or a well timed shot near close range. The A.I. seems to release 3-4 cms in close succession when I fire active or semi-actives, IR sticks seem to be around 5 per shot. I think if you want to make the missiles less susceptable to cms, make sure their noise rejection rating in the weapons editor is closer to 100% (although, I have a modded R-73 that I think has 99 or maybe 100 for that rating and it still gets spoofed!) OR drop the cms in the aircraft to 10 of each or something. I don't think there's a way to change the spoof rating on the cms. How much of an effect does ECM have in-game? I've cranked the jammer rating on certain EW aircraft like the Prowler and it doesn't seem to make a difference, or none that I've seen anyhow... -

Mig-29 Forest Green Skins
SayethWhaaaa posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
File Name: Mig-29 Forest Green Skins File Submitter: SayWhat?! File Submitted: 7 Jan 2007 File Updated: 11 Feb 2007 File Category: Mig-29 These are a couple of Forest green skins I made for the Mig-29 whilst working on another mod. One is darker than the other but otherwise identical. They were derived from Wpnssgt's kickass Grey False Canopy skin from his Mig-29G. This is the lighter skin. Click here to download this file -

I heard there are quite a few in the BA who'll quit their jobs, go on a summer tour here to watch the English and then go home looking for work. That's gotta bit you in the arse though. No Ashes, no job... Still, England is much more exciting to watch than the Windies. I thought they were on the road to recovery a few years ago but apparantly not. I miss the days of the 80's WIndies powerhouse! (admittedly, I was prolly about 8 at the time )

chaff and flare
SayethWhaaaa replied to bingo's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I find about 40 does the trick, but when I'm shot at, I release them in bursts of 8-10, sort of like the how Su-25 does... ...even then, I still get hit sometimes -

I was doing an intercept the other day, and the Badgers I was intercepting were so tightly packed, I nailed about three of them at once... Love the idea of the HARM AAM thought, gonna have to give it a go -
No! It's for the only sport in the world where having a gut is a pre-requisite for playing the sport, CRIGGIT!!! Hey CSB, don't forget Matty Hayden's doing a runner too... We might have to bring back Boonie for some solid willow action if we can't find anyone else Because it simply will not do having England leading the world at their own game

su-25
SayethWhaaaa replied to grumpapotamus's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
There was one in dev a while ago with a Su-24 but I think they got put on the back burner as I haven't seen anything on them for a few months. I'll try to find the thread for you. -
What should I get?
SayethWhaaaa replied to agrippa's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion

The mig 21 "lancer"
SayethWhaaaa replied to stalkervision's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The Romanian LanceR does have R-73 and R-77 capability but I think there's a growing preference for western weapons systems for the newer EU nations hoping to remove themselves for the former Soviet spheare of influence. Which I can understand, if you've ever been forced to use those R-27s (admittedly, the R-27ER isn't too shabby). Plus I think the capabilities of the BISON and the LanceR aren't all that dissimilar except that the BISON is using israeli ECM, EW,RWR and I think it might even have a datalink for use with AWACS and Flankers. Yeah, there was NATO sortie involving Romanian LanceRs in early 2K6, can't quite remember the exact details other than they performed as aggressors and apparantly wiped the floor with the RN harriers sqn and the French Jaguar sqn involved. If I can find the info, I'll post it. -
Flanker & Normal 29 pit...
SayethWhaaaa replied to SandMartin's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
No Flankers yet I'm afraid but there are a bunch of us eagerly awaiting one! There was a Su-27 in development, and I thought I saw a Su-33 in dev a long time ago but I'm not sure if it still is.
