Having a decal issue, lil' help?
SayethWhaaaa replied to SayethWhaaaa's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Righteo, gave the placement a bit of a playing with and came up with the following. The red stripe will still be an issue since it intersects with the rudder mesh. Not sure what to do about that... Thanks a lot for your help gents! This one's been dwelling in the recesses of my HD for a while now. Gonna keep looking at it and see what else needs doing to it. If anyone has any suggestions, gimme a holler! -

Cheers Russo! I was thinking they might be but didn't get much (if any) reaction when I first altered them. Yeah, you're right Gocad, I was thinking it was prolly the mesh conflicting, I was just curious if they were X/Y co-ords to see how moving them around might look... -
I have lost everything!

Hehe, it was just a simile dude. I won't say anything about the subject matter only because it's legality varies between our members respective countries. -

Cheers Gocad. Alright, getting there, right side's still a bit iffy though... Do you or anyone else know if these are x/y co-ords? Position=-5.9,2.2 -

Damn you all! You're making me more paranoid than a flatulent, life long stoner!! I've got a 9+ gig library of things I've acquired here and WIPs which I haven't backed up yet... ...getting very nervous now! -
Desert Storm Update

On the subject of the Mighty Mo, I have some fairly decent snaps of it on my last trip to Hawaii... I don't mean to imply for this project, just for anyone who's ballsy enough to tackle modeling it in general. -
GBU-12's won't load on AV-8B+
SayethWhaaaa replied to malibu43's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I did notice that sometimes I could load 6 Mavericks on the inner pylons, then in game they wouldn't show up, even thought they'd be selected. Like So... I'm gonna have a look into it. -
The Official Basher11 Question and Idea Thread
SayethWhaaaa replied to Basher11's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Wasn't it a combination of either 2x Aim-9s, 2x Aim-7s and 4x Aim-54s (plus FTs) or 2x Aim-9s and 6x Aim-54s? (Although the last config had some issues with returning to carrier with 6 phoenixs, yeah?) -

How do you get an Aircraft Carrier to work in WOE?
SayethWhaaaa replied to Fatman's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
And if you think that's bad, don't fly with a tired pilot!! ...what about flying law students?? You are right though Stick, setting up an Area of Ops (AO) and a unit that uses the AO are two of the main elements to it. What I've pointed to will allow for a carrier to be used in the stock campaign. Generally speaking, the later campaigns that use carriers should work fine too, only, in my experience, when I've tried to use a couple and followed their respective installation instructions, it sometimes hasn't worked. Burning Sands '84 (?) I think is one that chose not to co-oporate with me. So I made an example of it in front of my other campaign mods and they all fell into line. -
How do you get an Aircraft Carrier to work in WOE?
SayethWhaaaa replied to Fatman's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hey Fatman, this used to be the most asked question after "is anyone making the F-22??". Generally, have a look in the knowledge base and you'll find everything you need to know about modding and editing this series (although I think it's currently being updated). This article is specifically related to adding carriers to the SF/Wings Over series: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=12137 If that link doesn't work, this is the original Column5 article: http://www.column5.us/carriers.htm Follow it closely and you'll have no probs (hopefully! ). I've used these instructions before and they've worked perfectly for me. Let us know how you go. -
Multiple flare shots?
SayethWhaaaa replied to ST0RM's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Second. If I'm a whisker above treetops about to move serious amounts of mud and my RWR kicks up a fuss, I want to be dumping a whole stack without having to repeatedly hit my flare button. Besides, I like having the smokey angel just 1 button press away. -
F-14D Tomcat
SayethWhaaaa replied to SAITEK's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
It should have come with the associated sound files. Did you put them in the correct path? ie. "(Your drive)/Strike Fighters/Sound" Alternatively, in the F-14 Data.ini, there should be an entry similar to the following [sound] WindSoundName=USNwind StallSoundName=USNstall EngineSoundName=USN2 <<---------------------Change this to 'Jetengine' and this should solve your sound problem AfterburnerSoundName=Xle2 DamagedEngineSound=USNovsp FlapsSoundName=USNflaps AirbrakesSoundName=Airbrakes GearsSound=Gear Otherwise, just grab the F-14s from Column5 and follow the instructions and you should have noisy Tomcats, armed to the teeth in no time flat! As for the burners, you can cut and paste the info in, but just try adding the fresh Column5 ones first. I use those ones and they work straight out of the box... -
How much does the guy saying "That's one crazy sombish" around the 40 second mark sound like Hrntfxr??

No kidding? He was the one of the best big men of his generation. Best power forward I've seen play! And to think people though Penny Hardaway was gonna be the next MJ! Where is he now??

After smiling and giggling like a little girl at this, something struck me. I thought that wang was flying pretty steady despite not being the most aerodynamic body part. Anyways, I found out why. It was using counter rotating blades. Now how's THAT for trainspotting??

F/A37 Talon
SayethWhaaaa replied to reb's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
Could this problem be relative to the cockpit animation too? I've noticed a lot of aircraft I've ported over from WOE tend to open up shortly after they begin rolling for takeoff. I sorted my probs out but killing the animation so everything stays fixed... ...but that ain't gonna help you Johnny Reb, sorry. Is it your Bday today Z? If so, have a good one! -

SayethWhaaaa replied to whirlinmerlin's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
For my buds and I, sometimes the aircraft seem a little hit and miss when we have a local server set up, despite all of us having identical copies of the 3rd party aircraft. ALthough that may be due to factors outside of the scope of the game. Our server machine is an absolute mofo to work with sometimes... -

Su-27 internal wings pylons
SayethWhaaaa replied to Wraith27's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Btw, the two larger inner pylons on an Su-33 aren't spaced equally. The wing folding mechanism is located between two pylons, so it has to be offset slightly. -
Su-27 internal wings pylons
SayethWhaaaa replied to Wraith27's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Oddly enough, I asked FC about this very issue a few days ago. I was trying to make a variant for myself that was essentially just an Su-27 with the additional hardpoints. I figured I'd follow FC's instructions about adding the Su-33 mini mod, except not actually adding the canards. Only, after doing this and removing the entry for the canards, I noticed that the canards were still being applied to the aircraft. Since the canards were blue, I figured they were using my existing canards so I went about creating a new plane who's file name and inis were named Su-26 (in game it was still an Su-27). This time, no canards, but no pylons either... I've missed something...
