  1. Thanks for adding that info to the KB. Like quite a few other people I had tried the fixes already posted there and they didn't work. It took me quite a few hours to work out how to get rid of the shimmering and I thought it might save others a bit of time if the info was easily accessible. I asked TK about the fix that I found and this was his reply: Geoff
  2. I know that this info has been useful to several people. Could it please be added to to KB for future reference. Great news for those of you who, like myself, had given up hope of fixing the water shimmering issue. I've finally cracked it! What I did was a clean install of WOI, I then extracted and checked the Israel Data.ini and noted the following parameters: [HeightOffset] LowDetailMesh=-1.0 WaterMesh=1.0 With the default setting I was getting a bit of shimmering but not too distracting, then I applied the latest patch, the result: horrible shimmering. I checked the new Israel Data.ini after the patch and found that the parameters had been lowered to those recommended in the Combat Ace KB, i.e. [HeightOffset] LowDetailMesh=-1.0 WaterMesh=0.8 So I decided to go against received wisdom and increase the parameter, finally arriving at the following: [HeightOffset] LowDetailMesh=-1.0 WaterMesh=1.8 This has eliminated all shimmering, the water looks great and I haven't seen any adverse side effects. I hope this fix works for you if you been suffering the horrible water shimmer affliction, good luck, Geoff
  3. Tantobot, Here is the info I posted after spending a lot of time trying to get to the root of this problem. I did request that it be added to the Knowledge base but I don't think it ever was. Hope it helps. " Great news for those of you who, like myself, had given up hope of fixing the water shimmering issue. I've finally cracked it! 4. Yes I forgot to say it works in WOE as well. Could this fix be added to the Knowledge Base post about shimmering water issues before it dissapears into the depths of the General Discussion topics. It took me hours to discover this and I don't always have a lot of luck with the search funcution on these forums. Seems to me it might be handy to have this information somewhere accessible as, from what I've read, it's a problem that quite a few people are having. Geoff

  6. I'm pretty sure that I've tested with the stock enviro.ini because I suspected at one point that widesky might be having an effect and so reverted to the stock Flight folder, however I suppose I'd better double check. Geoff
  7. I too have more or less given this up as a lost cause. I don't know how many hours I've spent trying to solve this one, and I've lost count of the different GermanyCE_data files I've tried all to no avail. Brain32, thanks for your post earlier, the data file I'm using with your terrain is the one it came with so there's not much point in me sending it to you. Worst of all though is that I get the same flickering with the stock terrain with no mods or tweaks. This is the stock terrain: ....and this is Brain32's terrain: A couple of things I've noticed: a. the flickering gets worse the higher I fly, and b. it looks worse from the cockpit view rather than the exterior view, and yes I have thought of disabling cockpit reflections and it made no difference. Funnily enough I had a play with First Eagles yesterday and managed to eliminate the flickering water in the high res terrain I'm using in that sim by extracting the stock data file and changing the parameters to those suggested for WOE: LowDetailMesh=-1.0 WaterMesh=0.8 I think default was: LowDetailMesh=-1.0 WaterMesh=0.2 If only it were that simple in WOE!
  8. drdoyo, I'd already read your post in the KB, and checked the values to make sure that they corresponded with those you suggest, in fact the stock GermanyCE_data.ini actually has higher values. However changing those values made not the slightest bit of difference which is why I'm beginning to suspect that it may be ATI related: i.e. you've eliminated your flickering and have a GForce card yet there are people like myself with an ATI card who are unable to get rid of it. I'm pretty sure I've read in a few places about problems with TW games run on ATI. It would be great however to solve this as it's one of the few things spoiling an otherwise great game, at present the only way I can get rid of it is by setting water to low which eliminates the specular effect, but there doesn't seem much point because it completely fails to look like water.
  9. It's on my other PC which isn't hooked up to the net, however as I said it's doing this with the stock terrain with an unmodded GermanyCE_data.ini! The data.ini I'm using with PR_GermanyCE is the one that comes with widesky V1.0 by cellinsky.
  10. O.k. I've tried just about everything, applied all the parameters suggested in the KB, adjusted various in game settings and no change, the flickering is always there and is most noticeable at altitude. I've also tried the stock terrain with no tweaks and I'm seeing the same thing, so I'm beginning to wonder if this is an ATI card problem. Here are some screenshots that illustrate what I'm seeing, it's the darkish shapes on the water towards the horizon, and in game they flicker: Once again any help on this would be much appreciated, thanks, Geoff
  11. Thanks for the speedy reply christian, I'll give it a try later and let you know how it went, it's time to go out for a traditional Italian family lunch now so I guess it will be much later. Grazie, Geoff.
  12. I've been reading a lot about problems with water shimmering post the latest patch and I've tried the fixes suggested in the KB, i.e. [HeightOffset] LowDetailMesh=-1.0 WaterMesh=0.8 ....but I've still got horrible shimmering in the distance when using GermanyCE Terrain Tiles by Brain32 and I'm running out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated as I'm getting to the stage of going back to the pre-patched version of the game so that I can continue to enjoy this great terrain. Thanks, Geoff
  13. O.K lets start from scratch and take it step by step: 1. Delete any enbseries files from your WOE/Flight folder and main WOE folder. 2. Place the d3d9.dll in your main WOE folder. 3. Start the game and load a flight. you should see some green writing in the top left corner of your screen as the .dll loads. 4. Exit the game and look in your WOE/Flight folder, you should find a file named enbseries (configuration settings). 5. Open the enbseries file with notepad. 6. Highlight and copy the following data from this page: [PROXY] EnableProxyLibrary=0 InitProxyFunctions=1 ProxyLibrary= [GLOBAL] UseEffect=1 AlternativeDepth=1 AllowAntialias=1 BugFixMode=3 SkipShaderOptimization=0 QuadVertexBuffer=0 [EFFECT] EnableBloom=1 EnableOcclusion=0 EnableReflection=0 EnableMotionBlur=0 EnableWater=0 EnableShadow=0 DepthBias=1 [iNPUT] KeyUseEffect=123 KeyBloom=120 KeyOcclusion=121 KeyReflection=122 KeyCombination=16 KeyShadow=119 KeyWater=118 [REFLECTION] ReflectionPower=15 ChromePower=10 UseCurrentFrameReflection=0 ReflectionQuality=0 ReflectionSourceSpecular=50 ReflectionSourceTFactor=50 UseAdditiveReflection=0 ReflectionDepthBias=0 UseLowResReflection=0 ReflectionSinglePass=1 UseEnvBump=1 EnvBumpAmount=100 EnvBumpOffset=100 [bLOOM] BloomPowerDay=12 BloomFadeTime=150 BloomConstantDay=1 BloomQuality=0 BloomScreenLevelDay=40 BloomCurveDay=2 BloomPowerNight=25 BloomConstantNight=5 BloomCurveNight=10 BloomScreenLevelNight=20 BloomAdaptationScreenLevel=50 BloomAdaptationMultiplier=50 BloomAllowOversaturation=1 [sSAO] UseFilter=1 OcclusionQuality=2 FilterQuality=1 DarkeningLevel=30 BrighteningLevel=30 IlluminationLevel=30 AdditiveIlluminationLevel=30 UseAmbientOcclusion=1 UseIndirectLightning=1 FadeDistance=50 [colorCORRECTION] DarkeningAmountDay=8 ScreenLevelDay=60 ScreenLevelNight=20 DarkeningAmountNight=5 GammaCurveDay=0 GammaCurveNight=0 ColorSaturationDay=1 ColorSaturationNight=0 UsePaletteTexture=0 [PLUGIN] WeatherMod=0 [WATER] UseWaterDeep=1 WaterDeepness=20 WaterQuality=0 [sHADOW] ShadowFadeStart=40 ShadowFadeEnd=80 ShadowAmountDay=60 ShadowAmountNight=30 ShadowScreenLevelDay=60 ShadowScreenLevelNight=20 ShadowQuality=0 UseShadowFilter=0 FilterQuality=1 ShadowBlurRange=30 [ENGINE] ForceAnisotropicFiltering=1 MaxAnisotropy=16 ForceDisplayRefreshRate=0 DisplayRefreshRateHz=60 [MOTIONBLUR] MotionBlurQuality=1 MotionBlurVelocity=10 MotionBlurRotation=10 6. Either overwrite the data in the enbseries file or delete all the data in the file and paste my data in its place. Alternatively you could compare my data and the data in the enbseries file and change the data to match, making sure to save any changes. The main changes you need to make are to this section: [EFFECT] EnableBloom=1 ........this means that only bloom is enabled. EnableOcclusion=0 EnableReflection=0 EnableMotionBlur=0 EnableWater=0 EnableShadow=0 DepthBias=1 this section: [bLOOM] BloomPowerDay=12 BloomFadeTime=150 BloomConstantDay=1 BloomQuality=0 BloomScreenLevelDay=40 BloomCurveDay=2 BloomPowerNight=25 BloomConstantNight=5 BloomCurveNight=10 BloomScreenLevelNight=20 BloomAdaptationScreenLevel=50 BloomAdaptationMultiplier=50 BloomAllowOversaturation=1 and this section: [colorCORRECTION] DarkeningAmountDay=8 ScreenLevelDay=60 ScreenLevelNight=20 DarkeningAmountNight=5 GammaCurveDay=0 GammaCurveNight=0 ColorSaturationDay=1 ColorSaturationNight=0 UsePaletteTexture=0 Make sure that this line near the top: [GLOBAL] UseEffect=1 is set to 1, that way the effect will be enabled when you run the game. I hope you manage. If all of this is too complicated and it still doesn't work let me know and I'll upload a ready made file. (can't do it at the moment as it's on a different computer. Good luck, Geoff
  14. eagle89, No it's the d3d9.dll that you want, see my link on page 2 of this topic. Which settings did you modify and what were you trying to achieve? If you keep a backup of your .enbseries config it's easy to revert to previous settings if things go wrong.
