Waiting Maybe In Vain For Developments On Sfp1 ?
Nick Tselepides replied to squid's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
;) The patch question is my favorite kind of post to make me laugh (and cry when I see the unnecessary unhappiness it brings)), as I cannot take it seriously anymore, and frankly, I find the game rewarding enough as it is. I sympathize with all those who are in anguish over it, of course, and they are correct in wanting it to appear and I respect them. However, I also feel that all that anguish is a waste of energy and the kind of trap I will not let myself into. -
This is to wish you all Merry Xmas. The picture is a Tiger Moth repaint I have made. The scenery is Fox2 and 3, SEA Alaska. Cheers

Gloster Javelin For Sfp1
Nick Tselepides posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
:) Hinchinbrooke is making a Gloster Javelin for the game, and he asked me to post this picture for him. Looks wonderful, doesn't it? And when it comes out I will make a repaint. Suggestions and comments are welcome by its maker. J :D Jinx -
Ea-6b Vaq-133 Wizards New Skin
Nick Tselepides posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
:D This is the second skin of the Hawker Prowler I have finished, this time in high Visibility earlier scheme. I am going to see if I can upload it at avsim, hoping it is not a difficult thing to do, so those interested can download it. If I run into problems uploading it, I will seek your advice. If I am successful, I will also upload the low-vis scheme of VA-132 Scorpions. Tonight I will decide which Prowler skin I can do next--might be VAQ-135 Black Ravens, high vis, NE/158040/modexed 623 with a black bird on the vertical fin. I have enjoyed doing these Prowlers so much that I have done little else for the past 4-5 days. That is because my no.1 favorite subject is US Navair, with the FAA taking 2nd place. The side decals do not look right yet (the carrier name and the Sqn name below and over the NAVY marking ), and I am thinking of typing in a heavier font to correct it. Advice would be welcome. That is a decalX.tga file marking... Cheers -

Ea-6b Vaq-133 Wizards New Skin
Nick Tselepides replied to Nick Tselepides's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
:) Striker 01: Email me your email address at jinx@e-free.gr and I will send you the files necessary to upload it--I am looking for a site to upload it at, and will take you up on the offer. Hawker 1: I love the Prowler, so I am doing many skins for it and enjoying more than anything else. Have finished one of VAQ-139 Cougars too in CAG colors, and will do a couple of more. You made a great plane without which this work of mine would not have been possible, so we are proud of you. If it gets uploaded somewhere, full credit will be given to you, of course. To all the guys who do not know where to get the base plane: it is at Gramps site--see the simhq forums for that. Thanks to all for your kind words and remember that I am still a struggling beginner at re-skinning, but I manage so far... Cheers :D Nick from Athens, Greece -

VAQ-139 Wizards Prowler :) I made a colorful Prowler for a change--the CAG aircraft from the USS Carl Vinson. Soon I will try and upload it at avsim, and hope I can manage that process. Comments are welcome as always. :D -
F-15 Car Quals?
Nick Tselepides posted a topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
A real F-15, and any USAF plane for that matter, or most, would break into a million pieces if it landed on a carrier deck--they are not made to stand the shocks. Only an idiot would make a game with an F-15 landing on a carrier deck, and it sure happened with the makers of LOMAC. These days when no respect or faithfulness to reality exists, anything goes. Could not they include a Hornet or a Tomcat? Or are we players so dumb as to accept such unrelistic stuff? How many of us like our intelligence insulted in this manner? And what are doing to protest? I have seen nothing but praise--yes, the game deserves it on the whole. But glaring monstrosities of that kind should be severely criticized so that they do not reappear again . Seems some people did not learn the lessons of the miserable failure of CFS3, which, no matter how MS may try and try, is dead in sales and in popularity. -

I thought I would post pictures of 3 Squadron Patches I have at home. 1.Top left one is an old one of 25 FTS. (I do not have the time today to find out what planes they flew--if you know, tell us, please...) 2.Next one must be that worn by the F-101 Voodoo backseaters, the Radar Scope guys. 3.The bottom one is the one that has always caused chuckles and mirthful comment among all types of aviation fans.I have even seen IPMS guys in Paris using sticker-types of it as gifts to young ladies they wanted to flirt with and get or sticking it to windshields of girls' cars for the same purpose. It is the Sqn emblem of SPA79, French AF, usually flying Jaguars, and depending on how you choose to look at it, it is either a cat's face, with ears, eyes, red tongue and nose, or what the number of the Sqn implies (or a similar position anyway) in a more intimate kind of situation between a gentleman and a lady....(ooomph... managed to say it without offending or blushing...my god, I am still shy at 57...) The French guys at our Forums and the Belgians must be familiar with it.

F-15 Car Quals?
Nick Tselepides replied to Nick Tselepides's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
;) I see your points. The only on that is acceptable and valid as a pont is the fact that it is only a game. Apart from that F-15s do not have floding wings, and LOMAC makers should have been better -read on that. Now landing an F-15 on a carrier is the anomaly, not the rule. And it would break up for sure. And what one can do with mission editor is totally irrelevant. Also, flying an an F-15 with the wing cut off is old hat--we have seen that post a hundred times and the picture too, and it was not the only type that ever did it. Hundreds of planes have flown with wings broken off and that does not mean that sims should model them with the wings broken off. Nesher, when he posted that thing for the fist time , just wanted to brag about the skill of Israeli pilots, effectively ignoring hundreds of both serrvice and test pilots who indeed have landed all sorts of planes with wings broken off, but as they were not Israeli, did not get a meritorious mention in his book. I refer you to the archives of the Royla Aircraft Establishment, the Memoirs of Edwards AFB, and many episodes in wartime...That matter has nothing to do with the issue. You are evading the real issue, which is fidelity to reality against mythical stuff through poetic license. Said clearly and with no doubts left. I will not come back to this. Cheers -
New Ea-6b Skin Weathered..
Nick Tselepides posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
This is my repaint of Hawker's Prowler, with some minor details yet to be finsihed. I will also redo the bomb marks on the port side just under the pilots, as they do not register well visually. Comments welcome. -

Having been around most of these forum a bit, and in some more elsewhere, I do sympathize with problems the moderators meet from the members. I noted in one thread what they said--that some of the bad-quality stuff comes from immature adolescents. That is probably true. However, the bad symptoms I often see are due to: 1. Egoistic bragging of "fighter jock types", for no sound reason and without real basis, and in any subject. 2. "Know-alls" trying to outsmart others or show they know more. There have been notable instances where these guys exposed their ignorance and even admitted it further down the thread, falling into the trap of"smartness" they had set themselves. This has been very funny indeed to read at times. 3. A certain class of people who cannot even write proper English, or deem it unnecessary to do so, or perhaps do not bother as they are in haste to say something. They end up often by not managing to say anything legible or worth anything. This is a matter of keeping the standard of language high and therefore raising the quality of the forum as well. It is connected with culture and as such may have complex reasons behind it, social mainly, but others as well. 4. Nasty behavior towards other members, aggressiveness, and rudeness--sometimes one wonders if such behavers come to the forums to heal their hidden complexes or nurture them further. They behave with minimum decorum and maximum abuse towards others and sometimes succeed in drawing or tricking others into the trap of following their tracks and behaving like them--it does not take long to start a fight among men...I have developed a healthy defense mechanism for this--I just ignore their teases totally and this very quickly deflates the situation with a thud or a whoosh that a balloon makes when its punctured. A sign of the thud is the fact threat they will not add more replies to the thread of the controversial matter. Now moderators have to put up with all this, and so do particpants and members who have to slog through it and suffer it. They need our support and our better behavior as well to make the posts useful for all of us and the forums a better and more pleasant place....

I would just like to know if anyone can identify the plane in this pic. Gramps, you excluded from this riddle as you know it, I am sure...
