  1. Damn! If I only read your post carefully! - I got it now :)
  2. Well, I did try it out but there was nobody else online at the time. I took my Tweet for a spin at night ( I don`t know where the heck I was! - the map showed Vance AFB) I`m not sure if I did everything right. After syncronizing time and joining the session (little dialog window popped up) nothing happend (my understanding was that I`ll be transported in my default airplane to the session area, wherever it might be.) So I clicked on my default flight from Vance and off I went. But, since there was nobody else online I couldn`t tell if I was flying locally or on the net. Well, this was the first time I ever joined any online game - so I got a good excuse for being a little behind the curve ;)
  3. F-15 Car Quals?

Exactly Fates! And Jinks - lighten up dude! Lo-Mac devs did not create any missions with F-15s landing on carriers. Also, People are just fooling around with the Mission Editor. You can put a US carrier in the water and it is a "hard point". When I was doing touch & go`s My VVI never showed more then 8 or 9 feet/sec drop. Sure as hell, F-15`s landing gear can withstand more then that.
  4. Just had to do it! Enfield 01 Abeam, 3 down & locked, hook down (he,he) Enfield 01, Eagle, Ball, 3.5 That damn burble! Three wire coming up! Bolter! Bolter!
  5. I don`t know what your level of flight sim experience is. I assume you have some. Use mission editor. Put a US carrier somewhere in the water, close to the airbase you plan to take off from. (Make sure it`s a US carrier. If you place a russian one, she`ll blow you out of the sky before you get anywhere near) Then jump in an Eagle and head for the boat. You might wanna use a map view to find the carrier. Try to approach the boat from at least 5 miles behind, along the BRC (or boat`s heading). You`ll know the boat`s approximate heading from the mission planner (you gonna have to set up the waypoints for the boat too) Approach the boat at 300 knots, 800 feet altitude. Once you pass the boat, pull the power back to idle, break left. Pull around 3 G`s and focus on maintaining the altitude. Level off when your heading is 180 deg opposite from the boat`s heading. Gear down (you should be below 250 knots), flaps full down. Forget about the hook! Stabilize the plane at about 140 knots. Well, it depends on the weight of the plane. At the time I approached the boat I only had 4000 pounds of fuel, no external stores or weapons. Anyway, when you`re stabilized at your approach speed, change your view momentarily to the left, to see where the boat is. When it passes your left 120 deg start turning left at about 30 deg of bank. You should be descending slightly in your turn. (when you lower your gear you`ll see a Vertical Velocity scale on the left side of the HUD - it should be showing around 8 or 9 feet/sec) Now, this is where it becomes real tricky. You have to constantly scan your HUD, your AOA (there is no Indexer in Lo-mac`s F-15 and it might be easier just to watch your airspeed) and occasionally glance to the left, to see how you`re lining up with the boat. Since you can not see the ball (Optical Landing System), even with resolutions like 1600x1200, you have to fly by your FPM (flight path marker). Once you`re lined up on final (about 3/4 to 1 mile out) try to keep your FPM slightly above the wires and to the right. You have to remember that you`re landing on an angled deck and the boat is not traveling parallel to the angled deck. (It might be easier at first to set the boat`s speed to 0, the default is 16 knots) Well, just practice, practice, pactice. Any time you see you`re getting outside of the parameters, just add power, climb to 600 feet and do it again. Like I said at the beginning, I don`t know what your flight sim experience level is. If you`re just a beginner, forget all that. Just do some straight in approaches. Just watch your airspeed, FPM and boat`s line-up. And it helps to keep your airplane`s weight low. I hope that helps.
  6. Well, I`ll get to the point right away: Radar scan volume slewing does not work consistently. I created couple of missions in Missiom Editor, one for F-15 and one for Su-33. In both missions, When I turn the radar on while in Nav Mode - moving the volume in any direction works fine. (not just the cursor - the entire volume) As soon as I select the radar missile, all I can move now is the cursor. It stays that way untill you restart the Lo-Mac, not just the mission. At first I thought that there was some issue with my Cougar but it`s the same problem wether you use keyboard or the controller. Anybody else noticed that? Beta testers ;)
  7. Happy Thanksgiving!

    Happy Thanksgiving to all
  8. No! The wheels hit the deck (vertical velocity of about 8 or 9 feet/sec ) and everything was cool but you can`t lower the hook in the Eagle in Lo-Mac (not that it would help ;) ) Su-33 is the only plane with that capability.
  9. The Way Things Used To Be....

Yea Chief! And most of us probably have done worse things than drinking out of garden hose!
  10. I don`t think you can. Elevation, azimuth (only 30 and 60 deg) and slewing the scan volume left and right works fine but the bar setting seems to be missing. At least I haven`t been able to set it.
  11. Around the boat - 38 to 45 Around densily populated cities - 20 to 30 I really tried to find a way to run it in high visibility settings without lowering the "scenes" setting but the FPS around the cities was just too low - anywhere from 12 to 20. I wonder if I should mess with overclocking my P4 3.2, it probably won`t make that much of a difference. I did overclock my Radeon9700 (using Omega 3.9) to 330 syncronized (I could probably go higher) but that didn`t change that much in terms of FPS.
  12. Flight Deck 3 Video

Cool video, although remember - no diving for the deck! I never really had a chance to check out the Flight Deck addition to the MSFS. I think I`ll give it a shot some day. Now I`m too absorbed with Lo-Mac.
  13. You mean you tried to move radar scan up? It works - as a matter of fact I programed my Cougars Antena Elevation knob for that, but the radar has to be on. I believe in Lo-mac`s Eagle, as soon as you select A-A radar missile, the radar will turn on automaticlly. If not, after selecting the missile hit "I".
  14. Well, after all day testing session yesterday I came to a conclusion that now I know for sure what some people have been saying all along! Visually - Lo-mac is a work of art. Great mission editor (haven`t tried the campain yet) Flight modeling - slightly simplified ( Flight Path Marker moves only up and down in U.S. planes. There is a sideslip though, but the FPM is stiffened up and it won`t show it.) The feeling of flying is nonetheless very convincing. I`m not gonna get into other aspects of flight envelope like departures from controlled flight, AOA, etc. (I`ll leave that to MrMudd or some TPS graduate!) As far as weapons are concerned - haven`t tested them all yet. So far that part seems to be OK. (Although that damn gun pipper in A-10 is still too close to the upper eadge of the HUD and makes lining up difficult. Also it doesn`t seem to compensate for the bullet trajectory - unless the bullets fly on rails!) Avionics and radar - well, nobody expected F4SP3 but maybe in the future - who knows!!! For now I`m cool with the whole package and gonna get ready for the online experience - that what I really want to do. I ran the Sim all day yesterday - not a single crash or hickup. Couple of minor bugs in UI, that`s all I noticed.
  15. Oh, great! Only one picture got attached! Here`s the rest in sequence: Abeam
  16. I finally got my Lo-Mac today (about an hour ago!) After reading all these complaints on UBI`s forum I was slightly negatively charged toward the sim. Well, I installed it, set the sensitivities (shift finaly works properly - unlike in demo) set graphics to scenes-high, textures-high, water-medium, visibility-medium (now, this function controlls only atmospheric vis.), no heat blur (don`t care about that), Terrain Preload-100km, color-32bit, res.-1600x1200. I couldn`t wait any longer - had to see how the Mig flies! I almost pissed in my pants - This is not your demo Mig! It flies like a dream. Well, I didn`t have much time to test it to the full extent, that includes the other planes, weapons and such. (I hope the bullets will finally fly ballistic - unlike in demo!) I told my wife already: Tomorrow (Sunday) I`m not be disturbed all day! Now, the frame rates are superb (not so superb when I set the vis. to high - to me medium is more realistic) Can`t use TrackIr yet. I`ve read about different temporary fixes but this is deffinitely a nuisance! Hopefully the fix is coming soon. Not going on a mission without it! Well, maybe once. My system: P4 3.2HT(800FSB), Abit IC7-G, Radeon9700Pro, SATA drives 1 gig of Corsair mem. (400Mhz)
