  1. While back, I listened to an audio tape from a sortie somewhere over Germany. It was mostly F-16C`s and couple of D`s. One of the instructors in a D must have had a rough night... or something. 5 minutes after the G warm-ups, you could hear a strange dialog developing between him and his front seater. Something about the smell... Soon after they called an inflight emergency. But when the controller asked about the "nature" of the emergency, the student just bursted out! I forget how the hell he described it, but it was hellarious. Not so funny for the poor instructor. I believe in his case it was too much coffee!
  2. A Navy Joke.....

Why don`t you enlight us Schizo.
  3. I just got my TrackIr thing, put a dot on my thick scull and fired up the Lo-Mac demo. So far, so good! After an hour of tweaking the sensitivies, etc. I finally got it working the way I want ... except, I can`t force the darn thing to pan upward more than maybe around 30, 40 deg. I wanna to be able to see straight up, along my lift vector or even past it. Sideways - there`s no problem. Did anybody else experienced that? I know, there`s a lot of variables: position of this, distance of that, etc. - I tried just about everything (except the right thing!)
  4. Thanks Cudaguy! BTW, I think it was your post on Lo-Mac board, regarding TrackIr. Thanks for that too!
  5. Thanks Charlie! I found that solution on Lo-Mac forum couple of hours ago. It works! I`ve been flying the demo for the last 2 hours (to heck with work!) and can`t get enough of it. I gotta make some videos for some of my friends. They`ve been sort of sceptical about TrackIr and Lo-Mac. Now, I have to learn how to make the damn videos! I know there`s some Fraps or whatever it`s called. What would you suggest?
  6. She definitely is!!! Has anybody seen any cockpit shots of the bug? I just hope the avionics and FM have been given proper attention! Hmm, I just realized that I`ve never read any opinions from MrMudd on the Lomac`s Eagle. (I`m new to the board - might have missed it) Well, MrMudd - did they do at least half decent job with FM? I know avionics look real. And as far as radar modeling - I know, it`s probably half-ass but thats fine with me!
  7. Falcon 4 Gold Announced

I agree with you Seawolf on the cockpits. But when it comes to those modified F-16 flight models - in some cases (F/A-18 for instance) they did a hell of a job! (From what I`ve been told) Small details like: during takeoff, if the Hornet is not trimmed properly - you`ll notice slight resistance in nose coming up, especially when you rotate too late. etc., etc. And graphics, yea :(
  8. Veteran's Bar....

...and then the AF guys said: ahhh shoot! we shoudda waited a little!!
  9. A Navy Joke.....

:D All right chief! ... If that Saint Peter had a callsign - "Salt" would`ve been perfect!
  10. Track IR Who has it

I ordered mine 2 days ago... then I found out there`s TrackIr2, soon to be released! Oh well, if there`s really that much of an improvement I`ll get that one too. :) BTW, whoever came up with TrackIr idea - great job! I guess the next best thing to that would be the SimEye from Keiser ElectroOptics (about $60K per piece!!) :(
  11. you haven't DL it yet? this is my first ride in the hog when i got the demo - having not read the read me file, i couldn't figure out why my guns weren't firing - i read the keyboard commands doc. i'd armed my hog, and even pressed C for cannon (couldn't figure out why i had to do that bit, put it down to it being a beta) and nothing happend when i pulled the trigger.. had i read the read me file, i would have found out that i had to first press 7 to put me in A-G mode... DOH! ;) pls note the un realistic loss of fuel from the wing - a) as there isn't even a fuel cell in that part of the wing and B) the wings are the first cells of fuel to b used as they aren't protected by the self-sealing cells like in the body of the aircraft, this is so they are dry when the pilot enters combat.. but hey, its beta buld 5 :) Yes - I`ve DL`d it on the day it was "released". However I didn`t have much time to screw around with it yet. Whenever I get a chance to fire up the demo, I just jump into the Mig, get rid of the mirage and head for the hills at "signal buster". Once I`m there, I get to 20, 30 m and fly around like a madman. The sensation of speed is unbelievable! ( I set my view to 85 deg., scenes to "high" res. 1600x 1200). Then, pick an airfield and practice overheads at 400 m AGL, 600 km/h. Need to get the basics before the sim comes out. BTW, maintaining the altitude became much easier once I assigned the trim function to my Cougar`s hat switch! Can`t wait for the final version of the FM though. Oh, good point on your fuel tank observations. Well, it looks cool when something is streaming out of the hole!
  12. Damn! That vapor out of the hole in the fuel tank is awsome! I didn`t realize the visual effects are that good in Lock-on. Are these shots from the demo?
  13. Hey Snapple2993 How in the heck did that "mishap" occur! I like those simmetrical bite marks on both ailerons. "Something" made sure that this guy was not going anywhere!
  14. I just finished watching the videos. (both: "spins" and "mig v f-16") I can tell (at least I think I can) just from watching the videos that the flight modeling in full version lo-mac is much better then in the demo. MrMudd, in your spin recoveries - did you simply use opposite rudder or you also tinkered with the throttles? (I assume the compressors were not stalled) How would the recovery from this type of spin be done in the real Eagle? As far as 1v1 video - one comment: I gotta get me that TrackIR! (although at times, the panning motion seemed kinda choppy)
  15. MrMudd! - something just occured to me: You probably could come up with a little follow-up manual after Lo-mac`s release. It would sell every copy! Or - maybe something for on-line distribution. (Well, just a thought)
  16. Thanks a lot MrMudd! PG_Raptor - all these videos are at: ftp://ftp.chproducts.com/pub/BioHazCentral/
  17. Vertigo...

While back, when I was working on my private pilot licence, on my first flight under the "hood" I remember it took a lot of concentration to force myself to trust the instruments. Also when flying "jerry-rigged" Hornet sim, occasionally I would feel the onset of vertigo (or whatever the hell it was). The motion platform was limited in roll and pitch and your eyes are telling you one thing but your inner ear is telling you something else. Weird feeling!
  18. Dead reconing IFR - all the way, till the needles showed up! Cool! MrMudd, did you use TrackIR in this vid?
  19. Falcon 4 Gold Announced

I have mixed feelings about F4OIR. Being a hard core simmer, I can`t imagine going below standards of SP3. I was really looking forward to SP4! And it looks like it`s not gonna happen. I don`t want to speculate too much on what OIR is or is not. Does anybody know any more details then what was announced by G2Interactive?
