    Q. What happens if the funding goal isn't met? 

    A. Not everything will be lost even if we don't make the funding goal. We do plan on securing the amount we're short by through other means (loans) and still get the Windows 10 update done at a later time (probably early next year). If we have to go this route however, the update will have to be a paid update and not free to everyone so we can at least recover part of the cost. It'll be free to only those who contributed to this and those who purchased the SF2 Complete Edition. 

    Please note that this campaign is set as "Keep it all", meaning we keep all the contributions even if the funding goal isn't meat. 

    Q. Can we add <xyz> features and fix <abc> bugs? 

    A. We'd love to be able to do everything everyone is asking for, but unfortunately, all these take a lot of time and money. If you're expecting our games to have all the features from other AAA-quality games, then you'll be disappointed. Those games costs 10+ (some over 100+) million budget, and there is simply no way we can even come close to that with $100-500K budget we usually spend on our games. If we do make more than the funding goal, we'll have the contributors vote and decide on which features we should spend that extra amount on. 

    Q. Are you going to continue to support the game? 

    A. We wish we could continue to support the game forever, but again, these things takes a lot of money, and we simply can not afford to keep supporting old games for years and decades. This crowd funding goal is enough to pay for just 2 months of operation. In order for us to continue to support the game year after year, we need the community to continue to buy our games (and not just play them) year after year. 

    Q. Isn't it better to do Strike Fighters 3? 

    A. We'd love to be able to do SF3, but we're not ready to commit that much time and money to a new PC game at this point. A completely new game would take us at least 5 years and cost us at at least 2 million. Plus, everyone expect post-release support for 10-20 additional years, easily doubling the cost. We just don't think we'll be able to raise that amount needed based on numbers we have. We'd love to be proven wrong on this, if this fund raising goes way better than expected, we can re-consider this in the future.

  2. Hi All,

     

    I've been playing around with the Su-33 lately and was wondering if there was a way to have the wingtip pylons on the aircraft even if there isn't anything loaded, except when the ECM pods are loaded. The only thing I can think that works is to make an invisible weapon and name it Pylon. Is there another way to do this?

  3. If I remember correctly, you buy what is available in the inventory and that is about it. In the campaign mode, you only see new munitions only when the start date is reached. In mercenary mode, every munition that you could possibly buy is already listed with a price. You can't get new stuff with the money but you can buy a much more expensive munition. Hope that makes sense. Maybe someone with more experience playing as a mercenary can give you more info...

  4. Cliff, I tried your suggestion but unfortunately, it didn't work for the Su-27 but I noticed that on a modified Su-27 that I had created as a test, it no longer veers off as bad but it's going to the left instead of right now :blink:

    Thank you for the suggestion though. I will keep working on it to see if I missed anything. 

     

     

    EDIT:

     

    Forgot to mention that the plane still veers to one side in normal FM too, not just on hard FM. I am thinking that it may be the landing gear.

  6. Hi all,

     

    I recently noticed that my Su-27 seems to veer slightly to one direction (the right) when moving down the runway while taking off. Once airborne, the plane seems to be going relatively straight with no yawing to one direction or another  though it will start to veer/roll to the right when going vertical and the speed starts to drop. I assumed it was asymmetrical control surfaces and I checked but it seems to be okay. The only thing I can assume is the empty inertia line which I have no idea which one to modify correctly. I played with all of them and the y and z axis seem to change which way the plane is veering towards but causes some flight issues once airborne. Any suggestions on what might be causing this and what to do?

  7. Thanks everyone for the answers. I saw something that mentioned what Snailman was saying about the color difference being in PVO or VVS but then there was also an article of some sort confirming what Trooper and Crazyhorse mentioned. Many of the aircraft weren't kept in hangars and so when it came time to do some maintenance, whatever paint the guys would use whatever paint they found. I am assuming that originally, the color of the noses was use to distinguish between PVO and VVS but as time went on, the guys working on the planes just knew they needed paint and used whatever thy had or could find. Guess there isn't a definite answer but regardless of nose color, Flankers sure are sexy to look at :biggrin:

    I was looking at some SU-27 Flanker pics which triggered a question that I had since I was young. I've noticed that most SU-27s you see today have the white nose but if you look around, some older pics (1980s-1990s) seem to be a combination of white noses and green noses. Can anyone enlighten me on the reason for the different colors if there is one? I assume that it's probably like the Navy F-4s where it just depended on squadron but I've never found any evidence to support that assumption.

    Sorry for confusing you. What I posted isn't the pathway that I have in the decals.ini file but just what I have in my ThirdWire folder since I wanted to make sure that I had correct folders. Here is one of the decals and the pathway that I have for a FA-18F.

  10. It seems like I've pissed off the God of Decals as I've lately experienced nothing but minor issues with decals. After resolving the last issue, I ran into a new one which I thought was a simple fix and thus did not start a new thread for it. However, the issue has evolved into something that is quite a PITA which means it probably deserves its own thread.

     

    The new issue I'm encountering (and hopefully the last one) is that the game engine is only using the data from TextureSet001 to determine the decal block size, start, and end number as well as if it is randomized. At first, I thought it was only for the aircraft I had been working on but after I tested it, it seems that it is an issue affecting all of my addon planes. 

     

    Basically, what is happening is that if the default squadron set to randomize with a block size of 10 and I decide to go into the mission editor and choose another squadron that happens to have a block size of 9, then out of those 9 planes, one of them will not have any decals since it's using the block size from the default texture. I also did a test where the decals for TextureSet001 were set to not be randomized and TextureSet002 set to randomize and the same thing happened where choosing TextureSet002 did not result in randomized decals. 

     

    I do have separate folders for the different skins in both the aircraft and decals folder and tried adding a Level=1 decal to the decals.ini files. Nothing seems to work and I can't seem to find anything similar on here...

    I assume this is what you mean by having specific folders for skins and decals? If that's the case, that's the way I have it. I checked to make sure that the directory were all pointing to the correct place and they are.

  12. Okay, I can confirm that it seems [texturset001] in the aircraft ini file appears to takes precedence over other decals. I decided to make a little experiment to prove this where I had the decal randomize set to false for the second squadron and when I started a mission, it was still randomizing the decals and one of the planes missing the decals. I then went back and added one extra plane and was able to get all the decals to show minus the extra plane. Is there a work around of this or is it just a game limitation. First time I've encountered this... or paid close enough attention to. 


  13. because you don't have a seperate decals folder that that other skin. If 2 units have differing numbers, and assuming decals are randomized (only Level=2, btw), you'll need a different folder for ANYTHING the other squadron uses. Also assuming there's at least 1 Level=1 decal to activate the squadron name display, and said "squadron specific" decals

     

    Switching to another squadron via the mission editor should not remove things like national markings or "service names", (again) assuming those are all Level=0)

    If, OTH, you used something like

    that, being squadron specific, become a Level=1 decal, as it names the squadron

    I have different folders within the aircraft folder for specific squadrons so I don't think that is the issue. However, I checked the decal.ini folder and noticed that all the decals are level 2. Would not having any other level decals be the problem in this case then?

    One last question I have about decals is whether or not each squadron has to have the same number of planes for it to work properly.  What I mean is that for instance, I have two squadrons for the EA-18G but one of them has 5 planes while the other has 6. If I set the squadron with 5 planes as the default decal, and then I go into the mission editor and switch to the other squadron with 6 planes, then one of the planes will be missing the decals (completely blank with no markings) and then numbers sometimes repeat. However, if I set the squadron with 6 planes as default and select the squadron with 5 planes, then all the decals show and none repeat. 


  15. how many decals are on the mesh in question?? You have a max of 3 per mesh (although sometimes I'e gotten away with 4) Usually, when you exceed the total number, the mesh disappears (goes transparant)

     

    What decal level are you using for the "filler". Should be Level=0

     

    What I'm seeing looks more like a mapping error of the skin, than a decal problem

Are you talking about the number of decals with different names or decals in general?  The reason I asked is because I did an experiment to see since I thought I had one too many and so I removed the filler I made and decided to copy and rename the canopy stripes into something else which would have added 2 new decals yet it seems to work.

    how many decals are on the mesh in question?? You have a max of 3 per mesh (although sometimes I'e gotten away with 4) Usually, when you exceed the total number, the mesh disappears (goes transparant)

     

    What decal level are you using for the "filler". Should be Level=0

     

    What I'm seeing looks more like a mapping error of the skin, than a decal problem

     

    There are four different decals on the mesh already and with mine, there are five. Guess that's one too many. 

     

    By mapping error, what exactly do you mean? I noticed that when I was playing around with the decals the other night, a decal for the left side would bleed through to the left part, etc. Is this what mapping error is?

  17. Hello all,

     

    I am currently working on a fix to SidDogg's VAQ-138 skin. The issue that I am trying to fix is that the CAG bird has a missing texture that the decals for it seem not to cover up for some reason. I tried modifying those decals that go on the left and right of the spine but with no luck. I then decided to create something that went on top of the spine to cover that up. That fixed the solution for the CAG bird but then I noticed that the decals below the canopy on the left side all disappeared. The decals below the canopy no longer appear on the right side but appears fine on the left. 

     

    I've attached images of what I am talking about since it's kind of hard to put into words without confusing the heck out of everyone. 

    *NOTE* I've added images of another plane to show the missing decals below canopy since it's easier to see.

    I am lost about how to fix this other than to combine the left and right to the top part I made and remove the left and right. Is there a reason to this? The only thing I can think of is that there is a limit to the amount of decals I can have on a particular mesh but I am unsure. 

     

    This is my first time working on decals and have no clue on what to do exactly.
