  1. If i do recall well, at some point you should get some new pilots as i saw that in one of my earlier campaign. We got our asses kicked very well by the german forces in the Red Hammer campaign and i do saw that the list of pilots was longer than at the beginning at some point... But i may be wrong because it happened months ago and only once... Let us know!
  2. Yeah Do, i could have done that, but i like to stick to ''reality''... Pressing escape would for sure make sure i finished the mission, but not loosing the aircraft... By ejecting, i finished the mission anyway AND lost the bird :)
  3. Nice one Do335! I guess this is a risk when 4 carriers are operating in the same area :) Taken from my current campaign (Rolling Thunder , 4 carrier operating in the same ''zone'')... I love when these kind of things happens...
  4. Yes saisran, it reads 50 hours, 52 minutes and 49 seconds ''flights hours''.
  5. Hi Guys, Here is the most frustrating completed mission i just made. Escort mission over vietnam with a 4 ship formation having to protect another flight of 8. We did escort them, but we engaged 5 fresco's who came toward us. Non of my sparrow missiles got a kill (2 locked but did not hit the target, the two other were ''cold'' launch). At he moment i made a hard turn to the right to engage with my sidewinders, warning lights came on all of a sudden and aircraft reacted not so well. Quick look with the external view to see what was going on and taadaa, the whole vertical stab was gone! Only one thing is in my mind at his moment, bailing out and finish to the Hilton Hanoy but wait... i'm still flying this thing! I had the hardest time to keep it in the air long enough to try to bail over neutral or allied territory and having a chance to keep going in the campaign (it was my second mission only). I manged to do that about 10 minutes and i look to the minimap and saw an allied shore base within range. I started to pull back the throttle to see how the aircraft was going to react, pu the gear down (3 wheels were still there) and i though : Can I land? Slowly and came toward the runway and........ landed!!!!!! I though to myself : Well done! About time after 20 minutes of sweating :) I took a screenshot of my damaged bird to keep a ''souvenir'', then on the report screen i've been declared KIA :) hahahahha Maybe i did not survived and died at the hospital after all :) I'm sure you all got this king of stories in mind... This beat the day i landed short on the aircraft carrier because i did not check my fuel gauges and ran short of fuel when it was not the time :)
  6. Hi Do335, I personnaly check my stats after each campaign :) And yes, if you run 8x time accel, game hours are logged. As long as you are in the mission, it counts (but if you''skip'' some part of the mission, total time will reflect that). So, all in all, it count the time you are ''flying'' whatever you are in 1x, 2x, 4x, or 8x time accel... As for me, in sf2 i have around 550 flying hours, but i remember in sf1 i had about 300...
  7. I will eject after landing next time (if i can make it there)... Thinking about it, i should have pull the ejection handle over us territory (that was my first idea :) But i did not know that the game consider we are dead if we loose this part of the plane... To answer Do335, the Phantom was doing the devil dance, Rolling non-stop but still flyable, even more at low speed, gear down and speed brake out (don't ask me why...) I did lost my tail fin on an A-1 and i did went in a spin and i though that was going to happen... but no?!? Anyway, i learned something from this : If in trouble, pull the handle!
  8. Hi All, I made a few campaigns and only notice that last evening :) On any US NAVY Phantoms, the US ''roundel'' is not showing on the fuselage part. I looked on the templates in the Objects/Aircrafts folder and i saw the the ''roundel'' is there. I checked the decals.ini and no mention of this particular decal in the list at that place... I'm a bit confused as all other decals are properly shown. Anybody have a hint there?
  9. here is attached the skin template of the F-4B USNGrey1 (put at 50% of real size to be able to put it here for you to view). And the informations of the decals.ini : [Decal001] MeshName=fuselage_P DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=f-4b/USNGrey/d/bun Position=-4.000,0.470 Rotation=0.0 Scale=0.50 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal002] MeshName=fuselage_P DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=f-4b/USNGrey/d/bun Position=-4.000,0.470 Rotation=0.0 Scale=0.50 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal003] MeshName=wing_left_outer DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=TOP FilenameFormat=InsigniaWingL Position=-4.241,-0.94 Rotation=40.0 Scale=2.5 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal004] MeshName=wing_right_outer DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=BOTTOM FilenameFormat=InsigniaWingL Position=4.241,-0.94 Rotation=40.0 Scale=2.5 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal005] MeshName=wing_left_inner DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=TOP FilenameFormat=InsigniaWingL Position=-4.241,-0.94 Rotation=40.0 Scale=2.5 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal006] MeshName=wing_right_inner DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=BOTTOM FilenameFormat=InsigniaWingL Position=4.241,-0.94 Rotation=40.0 Scale=2.5 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal007] MeshName=wing_left_outer DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=BOTTOM FilenameFormat=InsigniaWingR Position=-4.241,-0.94 Rotation=-40.0 Scale=2.5 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal008] MeshName=wing_right_outer DecalLevel=1 DecalFacing=TOP FilenameFormat=USNWingCode Position=4.95,-1.65 Rotation=-44.0 Scale=2.25 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal009] MeshName=wing_left_inner DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=BOTTOM FilenameFormat=InsigniaWingR Position=-4.241,-0.94 Rotation=-40.0 Scale=2.5 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal010] MeshName=wing_right_inner DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=TOP FilenameFormat=USNFighterNum Position=3.0,0.55 Rotation=-44.0 Scale=1.50 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal011] MeshName=vertical_stabilizer DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=FinFlashTiltedR Position=-4.95,1.48 Rotation=0.0 Scale=1.80 DecalMaxLOD=2 [Decal012] MeshName=vertical_stabilizer DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=FinFlashTiltedL Position=-4.95,1.48 Rotation=0.0 Scale=1.80 DecalMaxLOD=2 [Decal013] MeshName=rudder DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=RudderStripes Position=-7.00,1.61 Rotation=0.0 Scale=1.5 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal014] MeshName=rudder DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=RudderStripes Position=-7.00,1.61 Rotation=0.0 Scale=1.5 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal015] MeshName=splitter_plate_left DecalLevel=3 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=kill Position=5.995,-.141 Rotation=00.0 Scale=0.75 DecalMaxLOD=2 [Decal016] MeshName=vertical_stabilizer DecalLevel=1 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=F4_SqTailR Position=-5.05,1.2 Rotation=0.0 Scale=5.25 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal017] MeshName=vertical_stabilizer DecalLevel=1 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=F4_SqTailL Position=-5.05,1.2 Rotation=0.0 Scale=5.25 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal018] MeshName=fuselage_P DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=NationName Position=-1.450,-0.335 Rotation=0.0 Scale=2.2 DecalMaxLOD=2 [Decal019] MeshName=fuselage_P DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=NationName Position=-1.450,-0.335 Rotation=0.0 Scale=2.2 DecalMaxLOD=2 [Decal020] MeshName=fuselage_P DecalLevel=1 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=SqName Position=0.289,0.717 Rotation=0.0 Scale=2.00 DecalMaxLOD=2 [Decal021] MeshName=fuselage_P DecalLevel=1 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=SqName Position=0.289,0.717 Rotation=0.0 Scale=2.00 DecalMaxLOD=2 [Decal022] MeshName=fuselage_front DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=USNFighterNum Position=8.138,-0.418 Rotation=0.0 Scale=0.55 DecalMaxLOD=2 [Decal023] MeshName=fuselage_front DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=USNFighterNum Position=8.138,-0.418 Rotation=0.0 Scale=0.55 DecalMaxLOD=2 [Decal024] MeshName=rudder DecalLevel=1 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=F4_SqTailR Position=-5.05,1.2 Rotation=0.0 Scale=5.25 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal025] MeshName=rudder DecalLevel=1 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=F4_SqTailL Position=-5.05,1.2 Rotation=0.0 Scale=5.25 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal026] MeshName=rudder DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=USN2Num Position=-7.077,2.044 Rotation=0.0 Scale=0.50 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal027] MeshName=rudder DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=USN2Num Position=-7.077,2.044 Rotation=0.0 Scale=0.50 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal028] MeshName=flap_inner_right DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=TOP FilenameFormat=USN2Num Position=2.35,-1.52 Rotation=-14.0 Scale=0.70 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal029] MeshName=flap_inner_left DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=TOP FilenameFormat=USN2Num Position=-2.35,-1.52 Rotation=14.0 Scale=0.70 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal030] MeshName=gear_door_front_outer_1 DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=BOTTOM FilenameFormat=USN2Num Position=0.0,7.10 Rotation=0.0 Scale=0.30 DecalMaxLOD=2 Also, on the current campaign i'm flying (Rolling Thunder), no F-4 have any kill markings... Is there that any of them really have any AA kill or a bug? Don't know about that :) I have The stock SF2 game with vietnam/europe/NA
  10. Hi All, I am working on a VA-176 skin with the ''bee'' and wanted to test if a could add it to an existing campaign. It always take per Default skin the USNGrey1... I created a whole new skin file named VA176BEE and here is what i added: Objects\Aircraft\A-1H: [TextureSet013] Directory=VA176BEE Name=VA-176 ''Thunderbolts'' Nation=usn Squadron=VA-176 ''Thunderbolts'' Specular=0.500000 Glossiness=0.400000 Reflection=0.200000 CAMPAIGN 1: [uSNUnit034] Squadron=VA176BEE ForceID=1 UnitID=15 StartDate=09/01/1959 DescFile=Campaign1Desc.txt StartText=Campaign1Start2.txt CampaignBaseScreen=Ranger61.JPG AircraftType=A-1H CAMPAIGN 1_DATA : [AirUnit048] AircraftType=A-1H Squadron=VA-176 ''Thunderbolts'' ForceID=1 Nation=USN DefaultTexture=VA176BEE CarrierBased=True BaseArea=Whiskey Station NavalUnitID=1 ShipID=1 CarrierNumber=61 RandomChance=100 MissionRate=0.9 MaxAircraft=16 StartAircraft=16 MaxPilots=16 StartPilots=16 Experience=100 Morale=100 Supply=50 MissionChance[sWEEP]=0 MissionChance[CAP]=0 MissionChance[iNTERCEPT]=0 MissionChance[ESCORT]=0 MissionChance=20 MissionChance[CAS]=20 MissionChance[sEAD]=20 MissionChance[ARMED_RECON]=20 MissionChance[ANTI_SHIP]=20 MissionChance[RECON]=0 UpgradeType=NEVER I started on the carrier with the right squadron, right aircraft, but the skin just d'ont show up... On the laodout screen it shows USNGrey1 as texture... Here is a picture of my work in progress :) Any clue of what i'm doing wrong?
  11. I finally got it! DO335 make me think about it went out to see the ''logic'' of my campaigns file... Instead of putint the UnitID to 48, i tried it at 16 as my 3 F-8C squadrons at positions 45, 46 and 47 had a unitID of 15... And it worked! I can now put the efforts to finish this skin.
  12. To Soulfreak : Yes, there is a VA176 skin, gut before the ''bee'' skin. I just want to add this because i find the raider real beautiful with this livery. To daddyairplanes : Yes, my VA176BEE is selectable in the single mission dropdows. To DO335 : Tried what you said, but the default skin is now USAFSilver1... If i change the bmp's in the VA176 folder it work well (no surprise there), but i would like to add an ''alternative'' to this skin. I tried so many combinations and hope to solve it soon because i'm pulling my hairs off on this... I added the A-1J (VA-25) on the same campaign and no problem of any sort, so i don't get it with the A-1H... I may put too much heart on this :) Anyway, when skin will be completed, i will post it! But remeber, i ain't no professionnal Skinner (way far from that).
  13. Hi Coolhand! You can use it with no problem. I use the A-6E cockpit for my A-6A, A-6B, EA-6A and EA-6B. Works like a charm...
  14. To those who are most experienced with these sort of things, is there an improvement in the FPS of the game if every image files are jpeg ones instead of bmp? My game runs almost smoothly with the stock files, but when a flight of b-52's drop hell on the target the FPS is going rock bottom, even if i set visual effect to low (btw, exhaust smoke détails on the BUFF are the stock one's)...
  15. Rokvam, I asked the same question a while ago.... Are the lines in the HUDDATA.INI are like this : [MapLabels] EnableLabels=TRUE LabelFriendlyAir=TRUE LabelFriendlyGround=TRUE LabelEnemyAir=TRUE LabelEnemyGround=TRUE Try this, it helped me!
  16. Hi Everyone, Besides the Rolling Thunder campaign aboard an F-4J (did one mission and it was over), I flew the Burning Sands campaign aboard an A-1J, flew 6 missions in all and the allied won the war!?! I already done this campaign a while ago with an A-4 and after 35 mission campaign went to a cease fire... Did this happend to you. Just for the record, no i did not use the nuke :)
  17. Is there a way to select which ship we may get as target in the campaigns? Found annoying to have Sampan or VC ship as target in the desert campaigns...
  18. Got it folks :) Had a look at every Sampan Folders i have (6 in all) and country was ''GENERIC'' and changed in for ''NVietnam''. Started a campaign, first mission is anti-ship, flew out to have a look and the damn Sampan is still afloat :( Second look to the DATA.ini and see that these are set to be exported... Removed the 3 lines associated with the export thing, saved, and went back to the anti-ship mission. Surprise, now i have soviet freighter for target. I'm happy with what i have (freighter more a challenge to sink then a Sampan) but it's just sad that i can't get to attack a military ship in campaign (or there is something to change somewhere that i don't know). Anyway, thanks for the help!
  19. I looked to the VC sampan folder and see no file such as USERLIST... But on the DATA.ini file there is this line : Exported=TRUE So, if i remove this line i should not see this ''cargo ship'' other then in the vietnam terrain right?
  20. I'm in the campaigns side of the game. I would sure appreciate a lot more of challenge on this kind of missions in the campaigns then a VC small boat firing at me with light AA :) Any input on where to modify the campaign.ini would be appreciated (if it is where i have to go).
  21. Just add this amazing mod but i might have lost it somewhere in some data file because here is my problem : On the picture img00002, you will see the pre-flight map BEFORE applying the desert4 add-on. On the second one (img00003), the same mission map with the add-on in effect. Question? Where are the squadron and tank units icons?!?. The only thing i changed is in the campaign1_data where i put the mission map fron DESERT to DESERT4... (see picture sans titre). Also, where do i edit the Airbase name instead of the odd D1... and P1... Also i read that some edit had to be done, but no mention of what and where ;( Any help would be appreciated.
  22. Many thanks guys! With your great help i finally achieved what i wanted! Now ground and air units are on the pre-flight map and in the text description i have the right airfield names instead of the ''D'' and ''P'' thing... Was just a little work in the DESERT4_TARGETS and CAMPAIGN_DATA files to be done.
  23. Thanks Wrench. I will try this and see how it show up. As for your last remark, they sure think who is the crazy one flying at 235knots, 200ft, all alone with rocket pods :)
  24. Thanks for the hints! To answer to Wrench, i wanted to change the airfiled names, but not on the planning map (D and P airfields are okay for me). It's more when i get the mission description as ''Strike at x airfield'' instead of D having a real Airbase name :) For the changing in notepad, i will go where Centurion-1 indicates me. As for the units not appearing on the pre-flight map, are they showing anyway in the campaign? Like if nothing on the red side, does that mean there is no enemy squadron?
  25. Desert 4 Mountain Regions+ Addon

Amazing mod! I may be noob, but is that normal that when i changed my desert to desert4 terrain in campaign there is only 2 red and 2 blue tank unit at the frontline and no air unit showing anywhere? Also, where do i edit the airfields? Thanks
