Civil Mod "FireFighters"
Canadair replied to Gepard's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
Lovely idea and mod. Sadly the CL215/415 prgress is being very slow at the moment. The idea I had for a firefighting mod was for SFP/WOX, and it being slowed down because of the CL215/415 design. It is difficult to find people motivated enough for such kind of "niche" airplane (not blaming anyone, of course. It is my problem that I am not good at all in 3d modelling.) On the other hand ghepards' excellent mod could be the starting point for a wider mod with more maps, firefighting planes and vehicles for a wide range of civilan operations. I understand SFP maps will work on SFP, but not viceversa, right?) Anyway I guess I cans tart using ghepard'smod and the planeset included, it is a good start for a firefighting mod to eventually expand Important note for the credits. there is a little mistake. The WATERDROP effect is NOT mine, but SPILLONE104's. -
Afghanistan Campaign Install
Canadair replied to Canadair's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
The russian planes in the screenshot were more a "back to afghnistan" feature, for the Russian forces in coalition wtih Western Powers against Terrorism. For now fictional. As for AAM, I was going to ask the very same question. while for some airplanes might be just useless drag, for others, like the F-16 is apparently structurally wise to carry AAM on wingtips in order to minimize aeroelastic fatigue. (Read this somewhere..) Which wapons are the the Dutch using? Any Precision guided ammunition? -
Afghanistan Campaign Install
Canadair replied to Canadair's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
Mostly I am waiting for the next terrain, edition. then I'll start the campaign. After that, if all the modders agree, I'll pack everything for download. So far, all that I ve used is available on CACE or elsehwere. Haven't invented anything, just merely put stuff toghter. -

The more I look at this the more I like ghepard's work with aghanistan It is so rugged and mountainous. Look at the canyon behind the 'Hen Modern soviets plane coming to support Western troops.. Happy G.I. receive a barrier of fire to screen them from the enemy Wingman circles for another pass.. (look a the the mountain and the valley, and the colors. It is ghepardìs terrain with some WOI texture I ve found of author I can't recall here on CA. THANK YOU not so thankful are the Talebans I can't wait for a final isntall of this terrain. With the list of ground vehicles in the previous post in theis thread (just slightly tweaked in the availabilty entries) I am having a lot of light AAA scattered everywhere and a multidude of infantry engagemts. With Strelas, stingers and blowpipes, hidden everywhere. Get overconfident and you will be hit. There are mayb touch ups to be done, but there is a lot of feeling over there. Seems liek a modern desert vietnam -

OMG, MontyCZ is a STAR!
Canadair replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Wrench and ..Monty, First of all thank you. The A-1 deserved some new attention. A question. Actually two. A backdate Scooter B is a great idea, and will be VERY useful. If I recall previous version come with a cockpit that was very nice, althoguh unfinished. What happened to it? Anyway I will most likely use RAZBAM's A-1 cockpit, which leads me to the second question, that is how to figure out the fuel gauge and the itnernal tankage. when you figure that out. let me know, because while we migratie pits to lees-fortunate planes that don't have their own pit, we often forget this important gauge about fuel. I am often reminded by some silence in the middle of the fight, because I have no relaiable gauge to look at in same cases of pit mogration. Would be cool of there was a way to add fuel quantity to the HUD.INI bits that displays info in the loer left hand corner of the screen.. -
