Harrier GR7
Canadair replied to bobrock's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Oh I don't thinks this is possible, Beppe. But it is okei,, ARBS is FLIR used for frefall bombing which we are simulating with the EO_CAMERA. TIALD will be used (and should came up) for LGBs,,, and Maverick have their own TV image. Same MFD, but they are three different weapon systems. What is the problem? -

Thank Killer bee.. I don't know if bobrocks will want to implement a whole new set of weapons for his harriers,, yet the idea makes a lot of sense. And less of more we had a good idea of how the arbs works. But thanks a LOT for the insight. ericj. I know. I understand, bombs and weapons and missile and all. Yet history as already proven that jetfighters need guns. but I don't want to hijack the topic. As for pod exposed under the belly of planes, they are always prone to FOD, but I had the feeling that such position for the TIALD is even worse because of the warm exaust from the nozzles which ar ejust above. Also, lids cowling had an aerodinamical effect apparently in redirecting exaust gas and controlling aerodynamics under the airplane. Such effect would be lost with the tiald pod attached there. Anyway, just my musings..*S* -

I can confirm thoguh that with the "unrealistic" values of the warhead weight I was getting hit. As for the firecan, I don't know yet. I follwed Fubar's idea which seems very good. makes sense. Fubar, Do you confirm that the networking happens by adding in the radar ini network=AAA and the same entry in the ground object gun data.ini ( for example KS12 data .ini) -

I am checking YAP at the moment. The warhead are not upped in weight, like I did. of the flak object only one seems networked and ina weird way. I'll work on retro-engineering this. -

..not rocket science, it is just an easy thing. And we are assuming that some TV system might be used in order to place the laser rangefinder part of the ARBS system, which is an assumption I take full "credit" for, and might be totally wrong. any more ideas, please.? So basically Tialds or Snipers are loaded on a modified pylon where the gun pd used to be. Now, a question, what in the hell is a CAS airplane doing without a gun?. And in that place isn't the pod exposed to every sort of debris and dust, and FOD, especially in sTOVL operations? by the way, buzzing Edinburgh Castle in baltika's British isles. -
Nè sono disinteressato all WWII, anzi.

I tried all the optimization included in this thread in WOV. In some cases the FLAK is really just for effect, despite the networking, (althoguh the firecan as static_AAA is a very good idea) the unrealistic "upping" of the warhead weight, and adding the "sharpnel" entries in the bulletobject. In other cases thoguh it is really nasty, and it really hurts. In campaign missions in some area I suffer a lot of attrition from AAA, and that was just with the warhead weight upping. My tests at the moment were limited, due to time, to the "going downtown" stock mission. I will report with further also, I noticed : [GunData046] TypeName=85MM_KS12 FullName=85mm KS-12 Cannon ;646 Caliber=85.000000 ROF=15.000000 MuzzleVel=792.000000 AmmoWt=9.240001 WarheadWt=284.600006 Reliability=95.000000 Accuracy=65.000000 AddLight=TRUE MaxLightRange=1200.000000 FireColor=0.500000,0.450000,0.320000 GunFireEffect=TankGunFireEffect <--------------------------------------------------please note GunFireSound=AAA EffectClassName=TankGunEffects EffectTime=0.100000 TracerTexture=Tracer2.tga TracerSize=0.200000 TracerDistFactor=0.002000 TracerLength=0.018000 MaxVisibleDist=4000.000000 MaxStreakVisibleDist=1000.000000 TimeFuzed=TRUE Therefore [TankGunEffects] TracerEmitterName= GroundHitEffectName=TankGunGroundHitEffect GroundHitSoundName=SmallExplosion.wav WaterHitEffectName=LargeRocketWaterHitEffect WaterHitSoundName= ObjectHitEffectName=TankGunObjectHitEffect ObjectHitSoundName=SmallExplosion.wav ArmorHitEffectName=TankGunObjectHitEffect ArmorHitSoundName= AirBurstEffectName=FlakEffect AirBurstSoundName=SmallExplosion ShrapnelChance=100 <---------------------needs to be added ShrapnelCount=250 <---------------------needs to be added On the other hand I wonder if those aren't just graphical effects thoguh. What do you think? -
Italy, like SCal and same areas of Turkey and many areas of the world is subject to Earthquakes. Each area has its own scourge apparently,, think of tornado alley, caribbean hurricanes, indian monsoon. At times we human beings are like dust on a carpet being shaken. I live far from l'aquila, about 400 km north, yet it has been a bad week for earthquakes and we had one very close, about 12-15 km from my place. No injuries to thigns and people , yet it was still a 4.5. It was really freaky to hear the growling noise roaring in seconds to thunder levels before the ripple of shocks arrived. As for what I know, no-one of the CombatAce italian members is close to the disaster zones and we should be all fine.

Not ATI. Nvida 9600GT. What is strange is that all is well, than, after a random time clouds turn blocky. I am testing zodiac's entries now. -
Bella idea spitwulf, mi piacciono queste skin Perchè invece non scrivi due righe sulla storia di Kindu, che sono sicuro molti qui NON conoscono

Well the ramping up to ridicusly high values was needed to compensate for the lack of "sharpnel" effect, which apparently is a know limitation. Netweorking the AAA could be the best solution indeed, and the most realistic. Yet in order to implement it at its best and understand it, I need an answer to the questions in my previous posts. Do I have to place manually the firecan radar, (or any other radar networked to the AAA?) and how "far" can the guns be from the ground radars? -

Canadair replied to SandyC's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Yes that is what I did, and that made for much more itnersting and violent flak. I actually had to "tune it down" a little in my "gundata". same modification has been applied to all ThirWire's install, yet the chances you have to be hit are very widely related to the "density" of the flak. In wow happens often ind efault desert much less. As for the Radar controlled Flak. I have a firecan model, and I do understand the network=AAA in both the radar and the gun object_data, likewise in sams entry. the system works by populating the terrain according to the targets.ini Sam_launchers will be picked and put in place and so Sam_Radar and so AAA guns. Is there any specific entry, for AAA control radars, to be put in the their dataini so that the system uses them in the terrain? If they need to be palced manually in the targets.ini, how much "range" a Networktype= entry has? (this is interstign for sams as well) I.E if a Firecan is in Vihn, how far can the farthest gun sporting the same networktype entry be placed? -
Spillone dice tutte cose giuste.
