  1. Very important procedures have been mentioned here. Although I've read threads at the knowledge base several times before, some doubts still persist. So I would appreciate your help. For instance, last week or so, some Avast anti-virus update version messed badly some of the forum member's SF 2 installs (.dll files blocked), me included. 1 - Exactly which SF 2 (merged install) files or folders, should I copy/backup to another location on my PC or external HDD? 2 - In the event of some patch, mod, anti-virus, whatever, mess my install, is it enough to paste those previously copied (backup) files/folders at its original place in the game? Thank you.
  2. Hello everyone, That's right, returning again to some good flight hours, I've downloaded the spectacular F-4E 2020 Terminator (Turkish Air Force), from PureBlue - congratulations for this job by the way ! However, right at the respective read-me file it states: " Sparrows are not certified on Terminators. " So I ask: In real life, why is such an intensively upgraded machine like this, not qualified to operate a BVR missile - in this case, not even the Sparrow ?
  3. Had already thought about that. However it keeps feeling a little unusual to me, as it's maybe the first Phantom version I've heard of without Sparrow missiles. ( Not that I'm so knowledgeable, still. ) Does the Sparrow airframe/pylon configuration make those stations very unsuitable to ground ordnance ? EDIT: I recall some German versions (also without the Sparrow), however even in Vietnam the Phantoms were air-to-ground capable while carrying the Sparrow. Maybe the keyword really is ' optimized '.
  4. EDIT: It has many features more detailed and more realistic (avionics, JHMCS, etc.) Roughly speaking, in an F-16 you have much more info, systems, modes and procedures to manage than in an A-10; Ka-50 or Su-25 for example - and Falcon BMS depicts that.
  5. Basically, with many general similarities, it has a lot more features ("switchology", radio comms, tacan, avionics, data cartridge, JHMCS, radar modes, etc.); improved flight model; more scenarios/campaigns. And a lot more things I didn't experimented at the time, but already existed. Although a big disappointment to me: The last time I've played Falcon BMS, the enemy fighters AI was MUCH below the aggressiveness and danger of the ones in Allied Force, example: dogfighting against the MiG-29 Fulcrum in Allied Force was in any F-16 version difficult, as the Fulcrum kept always as possible at his best corner speed with high turn rate... on Falcon BMS, forget about it - it's somewhat easy to bear your nose on him (since last time I've played it). However, as said before I believe it's currently the most realistic/complex simulator available today. Concluding, although many highlight the DCS modules complexity, I believe the Falcon BMS is even more 'complex', just because the real life inherent F-16 hardware/software complexity (availability of software/avionics modes for any given task).
  6. Nice to know, those are always interesting experiences ! Allow me to share my experience with you: Thanks to flight sims, I already took my girlfriend to see the Egypt's pyramids, (on my Free Falcon 5 days), Iceland (on SF 2: NA), even took her to "buzz the tower" at NAS Miramar (on TOPGUN: Fire at Will !) years ago. Guess what: although I've taken her to travel to those memorable places without she had to spend a dime, she always looked at me with contempt... sad, very sad - there's people who are just plain ungrateful.
  7. Hello everyone, So I'll ask again, do you folks recommend AVG, or any other which doesn't pic on SF 2 series? The ones which like me, got problems with Avast, did you all changed to another anti-virus?
  8. Rest assured, from my part they will receive an e-mail stating that their "false positives" are crashing people's programs. I know it's totally free, effective (and never had a complaint about it until two days ago), and I don't want so seem ungrateful to Avast company. However as other members said some posts back, it appears to be difficult to tweak with to recover the files, so... I'm considering MS security essentials, do you folks recommend AVG, or any other which doesn't pic on SF 2 series? ( Which one do you consider the most 'free of complications' with for ex. the .dll game files? )
  9. Hello everyone, What a disappointment... all 5 modules SF 2 merged install, with TMF F-14, and yesterday installed the " full-scale iceland terrain v 2.0 " and loved it. Yesterday, everything run just great. However before shutting down my PC, I've run "CCleaner" and "advanced system care" tools... Today, after 2 or 3 missions, every module (Israel or North Atlantic) crashes/freezes always at the loading screen 40 % progress. Do you think the maintenance programs mentioned above might be the culprit? I would appreciate your help, otherwise will have to uninstall everything.
  10. Hello Cangas and Russouk2004, Thank you for your attention, the problem really was Avast, but only after many tweaking (SF 2 install/uninstall) I managed to get it right. Ultimately it only went right after uninstalling Avast from my PC, because it blocked the .dll files installation. I describe it more detailed at the similar thread below: " And so SF2 decided to crash " http://combatace.com/topic/80293-and-so-sf2-decided-to-crash/page-2
  11. Well, well, well, where do I start ? (Actually I'm writing this post from another PC, as my own has it's "Avast" uninstalled right now.) So, some hours ago after repeatedly reading in this forum about the Avast conflicts, (probably because of a new update) with crucial SF 2: NA files, I started a new merged install... After installing the very first SF 2 module, I promptly went to the Avast UI, (updated version this time) and added the recently created third wire folder at program files (x86) or something, to the exclusions. So there I was all confident, continuing the 'dance', until the SF 2: Israel module and the Expansions packs all went great, and I even proceeded to load missions at various modules, which loaded correctly indeed. That's when I finally proceeded with the North Atlantic module install... and everything was going great until somewhere along the install, an Avast pop-up informed that the already mentioned SF 2: NA files where qualified as potentially dangerous, etc. Of course, that pop-up offered the possibility to mark those files as false positive and put them at exclusion, etc. which I've chosen right away, however with no real effect. Because when the SF 2: NA install ended, and I tried to start a mission, it just went to crash/freeze again. Translating it all: right away at the install process, the marvelous new Avast was quarantining the .dll files to some location that didn't even appear at any UI quarantine location... and since those .dll's probably weren't installed in the first place, there's nowhere to recover them from. So, I uninstalled everything and started it all again, without Anti Virus and web connection, and until now, every module appears to run great. Currently I'm with the July 2012 patch, should I install other patches before, or after the mods - like new Iceland terrains, other aircrafts, ect?
  12. Ok. I will try it later after installing everything again. Now it's school time...
  13. Glad to know that ! So which options excatly have you chosen in Avast by the way?
  14. I bellieve that to "add to exclusion" you must go to other separators... read the below tutorial: http://en.kioskea.net/faq/12294-avast-internet-security-create-an-exclusion I haven't tryed it yet, as since yesterday I uninstalled everything for the 2nd. time, but I will try later.
  15. Hello again, Wise words indeed thereg... I've got 7 different files on my ' maintenace; quarantine ' box, being the types: - easyavionics.dll ; - groundobject.DLL ; - groundobject.dll ; - yhe[1].pdf ; The most part is classified as: Win32:Evo-gen... Should I do right mouse button, and select "extract from quarantine" ?
  16. Thank you for your attention thereg. I'm also accompanying that thread, and I really hope that's Avast the true cause of this 'nightmare', so I don't want to start a brand new install dance again, just to find the problem persists. EDIT: My bad: not someother mate - I mean, you solved it ! Thank you !
  17. Does SF2: NA have much more dll files than the previous modules?
  18. Precisely my situation in BOLD - the same security softwares and OS! Particularly the 40% crashes and the accept mission crash ! WORST: after starting a full merged clean install again, everything was just right... until installing SF 2: NA - started to crash at the accept mission screen, and somehow, that installation autmatically porked the previous modules. Don't know what to do. Should I install the Expansion Packs after SF 2: NA (like in the past with no trouble) ?
  19. Thank you usaphantom2, That's probably what happened, as now after a clean merged installation, SF 2: North Atlantic crashes/freezes at the "create / load mission" screen. I don't know what to do. Maybe I shouldn't have installed the 2 expansion packs before SF 2 NA ? Everyone's advice are welcome.
  20. Still need your help and opinion about my problem folks, my install was by following order: - SF 2 - SF 2 Vietnam - SF 2 Europe - SF 2 Israel - SF 2 North Atlantic - Auto Update patch (July 2013 patch) - SF 2 Expansion Pack 1 - SF 2 Expansion Pack 2 MODS : - TMF F-14 Superpack - Banidos Mirage III EA - MiG-21 complete pack SF 2 all 1 - 7 - 57th FIS Skin Pack by Sundowner (for F-4 Phantom) - tweaked with SF 2 extractor to increase cockpit light in some aircraft - installed Baltika's Full-scale Iceland Terrain v 2.0 (yesterday for the first time) What do you think might be the problem? EDIT: Should I install the thid wire's 2013 hotfix?
  21. Well, I'm very noob here yet, however those cockpit changes are strange - do you have a heavy moded install?
  22. Hello slick cowboy, Coincidentally, my SF 2 mod install also went down the drain today - it started to crash precisely at 40 % loading. Yesterday I've installed a new Iceland mod terrain and the game went just great. Today after a couple missions, it started that behaviour with every scenario/theatre (Israel; Europe; etc), until I got tired and uninstalled everything. Answering to your question, if you can't find the source of your problem and correct it... then I guess you must uninstall, and start all over again.
  23. It's the IObit Advanced System Care 6.3 free. Might it been the Baltika's Full-Scale Iceland Terrain v2.0 (which I loved by the way), causing this ? It run flawlessly yesterday.
  24. Thank you cangas... SF 2 modules/expansion packs already uninstalled by the way... I do feel some rage right now. Do you advice some folders to delete, besides the typical "control panel ; remove programs " ? I mean, I really wan't to start a new install without any old registry traces. Thank you.
  25. Well, in fact 'early' aircraft did have some rudimentary aiming devices/procedures. And SF 1 & SF 2 depicts those features. Spend some time to check the following links (tutorials) from SimHQ, which really get the core of your question - manual bombing in older aircraft. http://www.simhq.com/_air/air_055a.html http://www.simhq.com/_air9/air_272a.html Start from those links, and follow on to the next pages if you find they suit your needs.
