  1. File Name: Major Lee's American Northwest Jungle terrain File Submitter: Doghouse File Submitted: 8 Jun 2008 File Category: Terrains Here is Major Lee's ANW green terrain. I've set this up to be a stand alone terrain also. To install, unzip the file and copy a terrain.cat file into the newly created ANWgreen folder, renaming the cat file to ANWgreen.cat. Then place the ANWgreen folder in your Terrain folder. You should be good to go. Again, please don't credit me with any of this, the terrain is ALL Major Lee's work. I've been having problems uploading files to CombatAce for some reason, they keep crapping out on my. If you don't see a screenshot with my uploads, that's a good indication it's a bad upload. Hopefully CA will get this problem figured out, in the meantime I'll keep trying to get them posted. Click here to download this file
  2. File Name: Major Lee's Himalaya terrain File Submitter: Doghouse File Submitted: 6 Jun 2008 File Category: Terrains This is Major Lee's Himulaya Mountain Terrain mod. To install, unzip the file. Then add a terrain.cat file from your game to the newly created Himalaya folder, renaming the cat file to himalaya.cat. Then place the himalaya folder in your game's Terrain folder. You should be good to go. This is Major Lee's work, saved from his site before it crashed. Please don't credit me with any of it. Click here to download this file
  3. File Name: Major Lee's America Northwest Winter terrain File Submitter: Doghouse File Submitted: 4 Jun 2008 File Category: Terrains This is Major Lee's America Northwest terrain mod with the winter tile set. I'm posting it because of all the requests I'm getting for it since Lee's site is still down and it's no longer available. The only changes to this terrain is the addition of some SAM sites and the sticky runway at Elk airfield being fixed. And it's been set up to be a complete stand alone terrain mod minus the CAT file. The Dogfight.ini file has been edited to make a better dogfight in multiplay action. Other than that it should all be original. I've tested this using the various CAT files in SF, WOV, WOE, and WOI in each of the games and everything seems to work fine. The following is a copy of the readme file that's contained in the zip which includes credits and install directions; Doghouse Notes: This is Major Lee's America Northwest Terrain mod, slightly edited. I have included my SAM site mod to it, and fixed the sticky runway problem at Elk airfield. I'm posting this at CombatAce because Major Lee's site is down and have been receiving a lot of requests from people to provide it. I've set the zip file up so installation should be a very simple process. This mod was originally done for Strike Fighters, but will work with the WOV, WOE and WOI cat file as well. I've set this up to be a new terrain, seperate from Lee's other versions, so you can have all of them in your terrain folder at once. This is Major Lee's work, please don't credit me with any of it. Major Lee's Aerodrome 20JULY2003 American Northwest training and development map (500 km x 500km). TO INSTALL THE FILES: (Edited by Doghouse) (Back up any files you don't want to change permanently) 1: Extract the zip file. The appropriate terrain folder will be created. 2: If using Strike Fighters: Copy/Paste "desert.cat" from the Desert folder into the ANWwinter folder and rename "desert.cat" to "ANWwinter.cat". If using Wings Over Vietnam: Copy/Paste "VietnamSEA.cat" from the VietnamSEA folder into the ANWwinter folder and rename "VietnamSEA.cat" to "ANWwinter.cat". If using Wings Over Europe: Copy/Paste "GermanyCE.cat" from the GermanyCE folder into the ANWwinter folder and rename "GermanyCE.cat" to "ANWwinter.cat". If using Wings Over Israel; Copy/Paste "IsraelME.cat" from the IsrealME folder into the ANWwinter folder and rename "IsraelME.cat" to "ANWwinter.cat". 3: Place that folder in your game's Terrain folder. You should be good to go. TO USE IN-GAME: Select Single Mission, "Create Mission" then under the Mission Map drop down list under section I, select "AmerciaNW Winter". ERRATA: There is no water, so don't select anti-ship missions. There is no campaign; I welcome anyone who wants to please write one! AI may have issues with the terrain at times. You might have issues with the terrain too, especially if you select Inclement weather option... This is a map meant that is meant to be somewhere fun to fly. It is also meant to be useful for prosepective modders to learn to write INIs and place objects. If you develop an interesting INI for this map, please send it to me and I will post it at the Aerodrome for all to enjoy. Please do not post this set at other websites. Enjoy, Major Lee. 4. I'm supporting Mr. Lee's ANW terrain and various textures at my site. As soon as he gets his site up and running again, I'll be removing them. That terrain is just too damn good to lose. Anyway, look here; http://dashboard.filefront.com/ColToon/
  5. Win32 Error

    Have you tried "System Restore"?
  6. It's good to see someone is taking this project to the next level. Before you panic, you have my blessing on it, so go for it. All I ask is you notify me when you complete your work so I can have it too. You might ask Streakeagle or Supercharger about the HUD. Streak has done an updated cockpit already and might be of help, and Supercharger is working at the Mirage Factory of late so might also be of some help. Other than that, you might consider a copy and paste edit job from a HUD of another aircraft to the Super II. Good luck with your project.
  7. I would rather have seen a fix to the multiplay issues instead. Oh yah, I know, they told us to stick that idea. But I'm still gonna ask anyway, and will continue to do so.
  8. Perhaps I should add a couple links to aid those looking to play in multiplay. Hyperlobby can be downloaded found here: http://hyperfighter.sk/modules.php?name=Do...p;orderby=dateA Hamachi can be found here: http://www.hamachi.cc/download/list.php
  9. SF-P1, WOV, WOE, and WOI are played online. What you must do is get on Hyperlobby, connect to thr Wings Over Vietnam room and meet players there. Hyperlobby doesn't launch the game right so most everyone are playing from Hamachi via LAN connect. So you must also download and install Hamachi as well. At first your games will be scarce on Hamachi until you start meeting people, and getting on their Hamachi networks. But after a while you end up with a lot of servers you can play out of. Don't count multiplay out, it's still alive and kicking.
  10. I've been smacked numerous times by AI BVR MiG-23's. :-(
  11. File Name: AmericaNW Mountain Thaw File Submitter: Doghouse File Submitted: 23 Mar 2008 File Updated: 9 Nov 2008 File Category: Terrains This is a mod of Major Lee's America Northwest terrain mod using some terrain tiles from Deuce's GermanyCE2 tile set. The terrain tiles hopefully make for a more exciting feel. And the SAM sites will definately get your attention. The waypoints were changed to work better in multiplay dogfights. In an effort to get a more standardized mod for multiplay, I have included these directions, that when followed closely, should allow folks to successfully connect and be able to play dogfights and coop missions on it. And if played in single player mode, should prove to be a challanging terrain to fly on. I have included all the files needed for this mod to work except the VietnamSEA.CAT file. Because it's size is way to big for most people to download and they already have it. This mod works with Strike Fighters, Wings Over Vietnam, Wings Over Europe, and Wings Over Israel. To install: Unzip this file into your WOV\Terrain Folder There should be a new folder created that is named AmericaNW Next open your VietnamSEA folder and copy and paste the VietnamSEA.CAT file from there into the newly created AmericaNW folder. Open the AmericaNW terrain folder and rename that VietnamSEA.CAT file to AmericaNW.CAT. That's it, you are good to go. For those people wanting to use this mod with Strike Fighters Project 1 the directions are the same except use the Desert.CAT file. For those people wanting to use this mod with Wings Over Europe the directions are still the same, only this time use the GermanyCE.CAT file. If you want a couple good single player missions to go with this terrain, look here; http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=5426 If you want a good campaign to play with using this terrain look here; http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=5661 For Multiplay dogfights, you need to edit your WOV\Option.ini file. In the [DogfightHost] section, change the following command lines to this: RespawnTime=45 RespawnDistance=2000.000000 MinHeight=1500.000000 MaxHeight=1500.000000 HeightDeviation=5.000000 MinHeight and MaxHeight can be as low as 1200.0000 without causing to much trouble, you'll have to play around with that to suit yourself. The Desert.CAT or GermanyCE.CAT files can be used instead of VietnamSEA.CAT file, but if you do use them, you might have to use a different figure in the MinHeight and MaxHeight parameters above for multiplay. Those you'll have to experiment with. I like to start a dogfight out as low as possible since the game doesn't allow one to start out on an airport yet. I had to keep the RespawnDistance close in to lessen the chance of respawning on the side of a canyon. I might recommend using Desert.CAT for Strike Fighter Project 1 and Strike Fighters Gold so you can be compatable when playing those sims, staying with VietnamSEA.CAT for Wings Over Vietnam, and using GermanyCE.CAT for Wings Over Europe. This mod works with Wings Over Israel as well using the IsraelME.CAT file. Fixing the terrain swap bug in Multiplay: The problem: There seems to be a glitch when swapping terrain in multiplay dogfights, in that the starting waypoints start out wrong. An example is when switching to the America Northwest Mountain Thaw mod AFTER playing on the VietnamSEA terrain. THe game starts out using the waypoints from VietnamSEA, not the waypoints programmed into the Mountain Thaw mod. To clear this up the host must exit the game and start a new game and everything works just fine. Then when you switch back to the VietnamSEA terrain, the multiplay dogfight starts out using the Mountain Thaw waypoint and again the host must close the game and restart a new one to clear things up. When this problem first presented itself, I thought the problem was in the terrain's Dogfight.ini files. It's not, those waypoints are correct and work as intended. The Solution: In the WOV directory, create a folder named Options_Ini Backups. And inside that folder create two new folders, one named AmericaNW and another named VietnamSEA. Now, after you launch a multiplay dogfight using the AmericaNW Mountain Thaw terrain and it works ok, close out the game and copy the Options.ini file into the the Options_Ini Backups\AmericaNW folder. Then after you get a good dogfight game using the VietnamSEA terrain, again close out the game and copy the Options.ini file into the Options_Ini Backups\VietnamSEA folder. Then whenever you want to swap terrains in a multiplay dogfight, before starting the game go to those folders and swap in the correct Options.ini file. I'm not entirely sure what's going on here, but this seems to work. Just editing the Options.ini file and saving the changes before starting the mission doesn't seem to work. This doesn't appear to be a problem with the terrain per say, but more of a "bug" in how the game loads the terrain. And this seems to be a problem not only with WOV, but with SFP1, SFG, and WOE as well. Perhaps someone in TK's group can fix this when they release a patch sometime, but in the meantime this will fix that problem. It's my guess the game loads the waypoints before loading the terrain, sticking you with the waypoints from the previous game. I'm of the opinion here that we may need an Options.ini backup for each terrain we use in multiplay dogfights. Some guys use the Range terrain and may have to create a Range folder (and Options.ini backup) within that newly created Options_Ini Backups folder they created above. And this appears to be host specific so only the host of a dogfight will need to swap out those Options.ini files for the various terrains they use when hosting a multiplayer dogfight. Also, multiplay coop missions seem to be uneffected by all this. And lastly. It's fine with me if anyone wants to use this mod for further development. All I ask is you please give credit where credit is due. Simple as that. You are now good to go in both single player and multiplayer modes. Click here to download this file
  12. Tweek you game settings to full hard everything. SAMs are set up for the "Soviet" side. I might add that the sticky airfield at Elk has been fixed also.
  13. Because those doing the reviews are uneducated punks who are mostly interested shooters. Because they are, afterall, selling a magazine, and their readers are mostly kids who are interested in shooters. (Case in point: How may of you actually buy a gaming magazine, or believe the crap they sell in those reviews?) Because a 2 dimentional game is much easier to learn than a 3. Because a lot of guys are interested in instant gratification. You don't get that with a flight sim, you have to learn a lot of things before you even get to fire a shot, then learn a bunch more to make that shot score. We are a rare breed guys. We just have to accept that, and be happy with the fact that we soar above the pack. Does this mean we are 3 dimentional thinkers and they are two? My wingman was won over by something called Rose Online. He says it's the best thing to come out ever and that I should try it. My god, I gag and puke everytime I see it. What a mindless POS! (OK, now after all these "put-downs" and challanges, any chance it'll score me a dogfight? Fat chance of that ever happening. Guess one can only hope.)
  14. When I originally did Mountain Thaw, I was looking for something that would look like spring in the mountains, where the snow has melted off the lowlands yet still clung to the mountain tops. I used some terrain tiles from a source that didn't credit anyone for who originally did them, so didn't credit the tiles in the original posting. Guess you can imagine the problems this caused when folks assumed they were my tiles and started crediting me for them. They were Deuces tiles, not mine. (Sorry bout the confusion Deuce.) The major changes in this version is an updated credits list and.... Major Lee's site is down so the source material for his AmericaNW terrain mod isn't available at this time. So I've included those as well, plus instructions on how to use this mod in multiplay. Lee's terrain has the potential to be the best terrain out there. My intent was to create a terrain for training purposes, one that was very difficult to survive on. One forcing a guy to engage air and ground targets at the same time. For you zoom and boomers I suggest you turn things upside down, go up to make the kill, then zoom back down before SAM smacks ya. Never go anywhere without some Shrikes in your pocket, and keep that foxhole handy. ;-)

  16. The cat file swap hopefully cuts out all those grass shacks and mud huts and other worthless items that add nothing to the game but glitter, yet needs to be drawn thus reducing frame rates. That said, the swap doesn't work without extracting the cat and doing some very serious modding. That's something I'm not going to expend energy one since I've already got everything in my modded SFP1-WOV-WOE install without the framerate hits. Perhaps TK will address the FM issues in some future patch. In the meantime I'm quite happy with what I already have, and will catch up to specs when I build a new puter system this fall. WOI is nice, but it would have been nicer is TK and crew expended that energy on fixing the multiplay issues first. <sigh> No since in crying over spilt milk, I'm gonna go fly.
  17. Has anyone tried dumping out the IseaelME.cat file, and replacing it with the VietnamSEA.cat file? Renaming it to Israel.cat of course.

F-4ES Super Phantom II This is a representation of the Super Phantom being worked on at the end of the Phantom era. It was an attempt to extend the life of this jet, but was scrapped because of the F-14 Tomcat becoming operational. ====================== 1. This mod is an addon jet, known as the F-4ES. I used Jennifer's F-4E IDF and Marc Silva's F-4E 2000 data files, adding some of the latest mods such as open canopy and landing lights. 2. NationName is changed back to USAF. 3. Chaff/Flares/Jammer added. Note that F-4Es delivered to Israel before the Yom Kippur War did not have countermeasures installed. During the War, replacement F-4Es from US stocks came with their ECM equipment. Some IDF Phantoms were also upgraded during the conflict. 4. The skin the base USAF camo skin is the stock SFP1 skin. It takes any F-4E skin. 5. Canopy fix by "The Wrench". 6. Uprated J79-GE-10B engines, which also featured improvements to eliminate the tendency of the J79 to leave behind a dirty smoke trail, which had proven a liability in combat. 7. Loading and Loadout screens were done by Doghouse. 8. The Loadout file is the one done by SuperCharger and Doghouse as the coop mod used in multiplay. It uses stock weapons and is totally Multiplay safe. However, this addon jet is not unless the other players have it as well. 9: The landing lights mod by dfang and Russo has been included and is already installed. 10: New radar includes a terrain avoidance radar as well. 11 This aircraft takes a little longer to load up in the game. Be patient, it's well worth the extra few seconds. 12 Please don't credit me with this aircraft. I've done nothing but to have taken all the various mods and work of others, put it all together and repackaged the product. If you want to credit anyone, credit those I've mentioned above. And to those of you who I've neglected to mention, please accept my apologies, it wasn't intentional. Also, anyone wanting to mod this work further go right ahead. Don't bother asking permission because it's already given. I give this jet to the SFP1/WOV/WOE/WOI cmmunity to play with and have fun, it now belongs to you.

  20. Everything I've done, and will do, is for the community, and it belongs to everyone to enjoy and hopefully mod further and expand the experience. Therefore if anyone wants to use it, got for it, and please don't ask permission because it's already given. All I ask is you make a good faith attempt at giving credit where credit is due, and let me know if you use my stuff to make something cool because I'll want to play with it too. Mistakes will be made on credits and such, that's just human and it can be corrected, so don't sweat it. Count me in.
  21. I have a copy of Lee's original ANW and can send you a copy if you like.
  22. For me this is a no brainer. Of course it's SFP1/WOV/WOE. With TK's sims you get better game play, better graphics, more fun, way more content, endless expansion capabilities, and the best part is those who play it are part of the community that is developing it. Nothng else even comes close. Lockon, IL2 and F4 just sit on my bookshelf collecting dust. Yes it still has a couple bugs that need squashed, but we'll get em.
  23. I've downloaded a lot of content off your site Mr. Lee. If there is anything I can do to return it to you, just say the word. __dh
