This is Major Lee's Himulaya Mountain Terrain mod. To install, unzip the file. Then add a terrain.cat file from your game to the newly created Himalaya folder, renaming the cat file to himalaya.cat. Then place the himalaya folder in your game's Terrain folder. You should be good to go. This is Major Lee's work, saved from his site before it crashed. Please don't credit me with any of it. -

This is Major Lee's America Northwest terrain mod with the winter tile set. I'm posting it because of all the requests I'm getting for it since Lee's site is still down and it's no longer available. The only changes to this terrain is the addition of some SAM sites and the sticky runway at Elk airfield being fixed. And it's been set up to be a complete stand alone terrain mod minus the CAT file. The Dogfight.ini file has been edited to make a better dogfight in multiplay action. Other than that it should all be original. I've tested this using the various CAT files in SF, WOV, WOE, and WOI in each of the games and everything seems to work fine. The following is a copy of the readme file that's contained in the zip which includes credits and install directions; Doghouse Notes: This is Major Lee's America Northwest Terrain mod, slightly edited. I have included my SAM site mod to it, and fixed the sticky runway problem at Elk airfield. I'm posting this at CombatAce because Major Lee's site is down and have been receiving a lot of requests from people to provide it. I've set the zip file up so installation should be a very simple process. This mod was originally done for Strike Fighters, but will work with the WOV, WOE and WOI cat file as well. I've set this up to be a new terrain, seperate from Lee's other versions, so you can have all of them in your terrain folder at once. This is Major Lee's work, please don't credit me with any of it. Major Lee's Aerodrome 20JULY2003 American Northwest training and development map (500 km x 500km). TO INSTALL THE FILES: (Edited by Doghouse) (Back up any files you don't want to change permanently) 1: Extract the zip file. The appropriate terrain folder will be created. 2: If using Strike Fighters: Copy/Paste "desert.cat" from the Desert folder into the ANWwinter folder and rename "desert.cat" to "ANWwinter.cat". If using Wings Over Vietnam: Copy/Paste "VietnamSEA.cat" from the VietnamSEA folder into the ANWwinter folder and rename "VietnamSEA.cat" to "ANWwinter.cat". If using Wings Over Europe: Copy/Paste "GermanyCE.cat" from the GermanyCE folder into the ANWwinter folder and rename "GermanyCE.cat" to "ANWwinter.cat". If using Wings Over Israel; Copy/Paste "IsraelME.cat" from the IsrealME folder into the ANWwinter folder and rename "IsraelME.cat" to "ANWwinter.cat". 3: Place that folder in your game's Terrain folder. You should be good to go. TO USE IN-GAME: Select Single Mission, "Create Mission" then under the Mission Map drop down list under section I, select "AmerciaNW Winter". ERRATA: There is no water, so don't select anti-ship missions. There is no campaign; I welcome anyone who wants to please write one! AI may have issues with the terrain at times. You might have issues with the terrain too, especially if you select Inclement weather option... This is a map meant that is meant to be somewhere fun to fly. It is also meant to be useful for prosepective modders to learn to write INIs and place objects. If you develop an interesting INI for this map, please send it to me and I will post it at the Aerodrome for all to enjoy. Please do not post this set at other websites. Enjoy, Major Lee. -
WOx 1 vs 2
Doghouse replied to Akmatov's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Is this poor bloke going to have to purchase version 2 before he finds out it has no multiplay support whatsoever? I'd think he should be made aware of this BEFORE he buys in to it. -
Mirage Factory The Vought F-8E "Crusader"
Doghouse replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
This is a much nicer version than the updated version 1.5 available at Column5 which suprises me because I expected quality work from there. And what's even nicer is you get two for the price of one. Life don't get any better than that. -
Congrats Spungie. Little girls are extra special. Take extra care of this one and keep your crusader greased and ready to go just in case.

Hello comrades...! How do we Play online?
Doghouse replied to berkut83's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Oh come on. I'm just an old one eyed dog who's teeth have fallen out. It's Spongie, redbat, Sixgun and creature you gotta look out for. -
Hello comrades...! How do we Play online?
Doghouse replied to berkut83's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hypelobby still exists. Join us in the WOV room in hyperlobby and we'll show you where to go from there. Be advised though, it's summer and most of us are out doing summer things with the families (as it should be) and aren't online that much. Things should pick up again this fall. Till then you'll just have to be patient and keep dropping in. -
More hamachi networks: WOV2/wov2 WOV3/wov3 WOV4/wov4 SFP1/sfp1 WOV5/wov5 nashash/texas creaturewov/wov WOV1964/1964 WOE2/woe2 WOI3/woi3 Please don't log into these networks with more than one callsign. Some of these networks are mine. I try to leave people on them, but will keep and eye on them and on occasion "trim the deadwood". If you find yourself removed I offer my apologies in advance, my bad. So perhaps keep a hard copy of the NetworkNames/Passwords somewhere. It may be best to meet in the WOV room in Hyperlobby first before moving off to a hamachi server.
-
The >._) squadron would be more than pleased to see more squadrons join us in multiplay. We meet and play through hyperlobby, but use hamachi a lot too. We'd suggest you avoid the Oct08 update and stay with the older patch vesions though, Oct08 isn't a good multiplay patch.
-
Hyperlobby WILL support WOE, FE, and WOI. Just drop by the WOV room in hyperlobby and we'll show you how to do it. You'll want to get hamachi too. Connects work much better through there, so it makes a most excellent backup way to connect.

Differences
Doghouse replied to Pratch's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Um, excuse me, but there ARE people playing multiplay. You just don't hear anything about it because you guys have effectively silenced and excluded them. But they still make a huge impact in these sims because the are NOT buying into them, and telling those in the multiplay community to stay AWAY from them. Not the wisest thing to do guys. This hurts sales, hurts TK, and hurts those doing mods because it's drastically reducing their exposure to the simming community. Case in point, just drop into any of the multiplay game communities and listen to what's being said. I only hope someday this will all change. -
sound problem in WOV
Doghouse replied to JoeF's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I get this problem, or one very similar to it, on occasion. The problem (for me) isn't the sounds, it's the speaker setup. I have 4 speakers with a subwolfer. When this happens, I find my speaker setup has been changes to a 2 speaker setup and the jet sounds in question aren't coming out of the speakers that are silent. Listen to your speakers next time and see if you're getting sound out of all of them. I'd bet two are silent. When this happens to me I have to go back into my speaker setup in Control Panel and set things back to a 4 speaker setting and everything is back to normal. You might look into that, it could just be THAT simple. -
Wov multi player with hamachi
Doghouse replied to eankhilous's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Sorry Viper, I didn't mean to ignore you. I've been on vacation and hiding out at the lake place, no phones or computers. Just lake fun with the family. I'm not going to be home till after Labor Day, then I'll be back in dogfighting style. I get to the library in town on occasion to check email, look into CA to see if there are any messages for me, and to pick up a good book to read but my time there is extremely limited. To answer your question, yes, I do know of some WOV servers. There are a multitude of them at hamachi, unfortunately I don't know all their names or passwords. Plus, you are welcome to join us at Hyperlobby. When I get back home I'll check around for some hamachi servers and get back with you. Look for me at hyperlobby so I can pass that info on to you. -
Wov multi player with hamachi
Doghouse replied to eankhilous's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
You can set up your hamachi networks without any passwords which makes things less confusing for people. You might consider using version 8.30.06 instead of Oct08. You get better load times plus you DON'T get those disgusting UFO's. Most of us have discarded Oct08 for multiplay purposes for those reasons. -
To get or not to get Vista is the question
Doghouse replied to serverandenforcer's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I'd too have to recommend you pass on Vista (known by many as Vista ME), and wait for Windows 7. I'll be building a new computer for myself (it's finally my turn) this fall and will make sure all components are W7 compatable, but will install XP till I'm sure they have the bugs worked out of Seven. Lets face it, there are a lot of computers out there and it's an XP world and will continue to be so for quite a while, especially with the economic situation around the world. -
Question: Placing SAMs
Doghouse replied to column5's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
Here is a template I use for my SAM sites. This SAM site has one SAM radar with 8 launchers and 4 AA pieces protecting it in one tight group. This entry goes into the terrain_targets.ini file [TargetArea001] Name=SAM Site RandomChance=100 Position=185300.000,229000.000 Alignment=Enemy Radius=7000 ActiveYear=0 Target[001].Type=SAMRadar Target[001].Offset=0.0,0.0 Target[001].Heading=000 Target[001].ActiveYear= Target[002].Type=SAMLauncher Target[002].Offset=000,100 Target[002].Heading=000 Target[002].ActiveYear= Target[003].Type=SAMLauncher Target[003].Offset=000,-100 Target[003].Heading=180 Target[003].ActiveYear= Target[004].Type=SAMLauncher Target[004].Offset=075,075 Target[004].Heading=045 Target[004].ActiveYear= Target[005].Type=SAMLauncher Target[005].Offset=075,-075 Target[005].Heading=135 Target[005].ActiveYear= Target[006].Type=SAMLauncher Target[006].Offset=-075,075 Target[006].Heading=315 Target[006].ActiveYear= Target[007].Type=SAMLauncher Target[007].Offset=-075,-075 Target[007].Heading=225 Target[007].ActiveYear= Target[008].Type=SAMLauncher Target[008].Offset=100,000 Target[008].Heading=090 Target[008].ActiveYear= Target[009].Type=SAMLauncher Target[009].Offset=-100,000 Target[009].Heading=270 Target[009].ActiveYear= Target[010].Type=AAA Target[010].Offset=-050,000 Target[010].Heading=315 Target[011].Type=AAA Target[011].Offset=050,000 Target[011].Heading=045 Target[012].Type=AAA Target[012].Offset=000,050 Target[012].Heading=315 Target[013].Type=AAA Target[013].Offset=-000,-050 Target[013].Heading=045 You can add more SAM sites by just copying a new listing and calling it [TargetArea002] Or whatever is next in the list. If you add a bunch of sites you can change the RandomChance=100 to something less, that way it introduces some randomness in the terrain so the sites aren't always there from mision to mission, but start to appear random. Such as placing 10 SAM sites with RandomChance=50 will theoritically allow 5 sites to appear during any one mission. But the math doesn't necessarily work out that way cause you can get 7 sites in a mission or just two. That math work our more like 50% + 50% + 50% + 50% + 50% + 50% + 50% + 50% + 50% + 50% which if you took statistics means you stand a good chance of NOT getting 50% as a total. The command line for Position=185300.000,229000.000 is the critical entry in that it MUST be where you want it on the map. Once you get that position placed, all the others follow in their Offset figures. It's really quite easy if you just copy and paste and fly the mission to make sure it's where you want it and that takes some trial and error. -
I can mail CD1 to you. But we go private messages for that.

oops, don't know how that first reply slipped by. Yah, I can help.
