From the website..... RAZBAM Flying Club / FSX MIRAMAR We are the newest FSX virtual military organization and hope to soon be one of the best ! Not as strict and demanding as some , but still true to the basics of military aviation . Soon , we hope to join others for joint military operations as refueling and carrier ops . Check forum section for sessions info . As it says we are a new group that is meant to be fun as well as professional. While it is desired that RAZBAM's birds be used members can also use anything that they wish. At this time we are just starting up with an Operation Flight every Saturday unless otherwise posted. I am part of the staff this time as the Ops Boss/ Gunner, so once I can figure out how to make missions in FSX the flights should be "interesting. Looks us up.... http://fsx-miramar.webs.com/ RAZBAM is sponsoring the club and have Ron's support. There are contests monthly with prizes from RAZBAM, winners choice of any RAZBAM product, this is straight from the Boss. Next month is Case1 CARQUALS, so join and start practicing your traps, members go through a training syllabus and any former members of the old ACOTC and CAV40 need only go through a REFTRA session to be requalled. If you want to fly Navy in MSFS but don't want to deal with the BS rules that the Vets hate and the posers love give us a shot.

RAZBAM Flight Club / FSX Miramar

Thought I'd do an update on the club. After some thinking about the direction we needed to go we have decided to focus on 1965-1995. For SEA operations it looks like CSAR, Brown Water Navy and some CV operations. With the release of various AI ships that can be made pilotable helo operations off of DD's are a big possibility. Stateside ops will continue training from NAS North Island, Lemmore Fallon, Key West and MCAS Miramar. Since a few of us are Sci-Fi/anime fans some "what if?" scenarios will be done to make sure we have something to do just for grins. Our core group of active pilots is growing slowly and we welcome anyone interested in flying be it casual or hardcore. One thing we don't do there is try not to take ourselves seriously, I mean, comon, the let me plan operations and be an Instructor Pilot. -
Mine worked, but I had no idea that Frugals would ever be back, only made three posts there way back when, one of them was to Armourdave. Anyway, this place is my place to create hate and discontent.

This is me and Vinny...... Today was me first time with him and was he hungry
-
My youngest just gave birth to my newest grandchild, Derek Vincent "Vinnie" Jones (well it better be, they can change it later when she get's married), 7lbs 9oz 17" long. Won't see him until after a few days as he was high risk and will be in UCLA's NICU for at least 24 hours. Now I just have to sweat out my son's next baby, on the way for March.

Thanks for the kids welcome guys, sorry I'm so late with this but I'm still healing up from a minor surgery on my shoulder. Well at least one of the "benefiets" of my job is that I get along with the reps from the various vendors that call on the hospital. Before I went out for may 'vacation' one of the reps for the baby formula supplier told me I could have as much of his product, no charge, for the kid. I had the same agreement for my girl and my first grandkid so this continues a dubious family tradition. I learned a few things in the Navy, how to scrounge and make deals was one of them, I like when I can put my skills to use.

A couple of years ago I posted and put up a link to an online pettion to name the next US Navy ship built be named for Congressional Medal of Honor reciprient Lt. John Finn. I am happy to announce that the 29th Arleigh Burke-class destroyer will be the USS John Finn DDG-113. As a Chief Aviation Ordnanceman, AOC Finn manned a 50 cal at then NAS Kanehoe Bay on 7DEC1941. He remained at his post for 18 hours despite being wounded in the attack, he only left his post under direct orders from one of the officers in his command. Cheif Finn later retired from the Navy as a Lt. As an Aviation Ordnanceman Lt. Finn was some one that I looked up to and aspired to be as good an AO and leader as he was. At the time of his death he was the oldest CMoH winner from the Pearl Harbor attacks still living. For once a pettioned I had signed actually had weight and power to get a buracracy moving in the right direction. IYAOYAS!!!

I went through Amazon a few weeks back after my X52 went tits up. Picked up a used X52 Pro for the price of a new X52 at the Pilotshop. The only giveaway that it was a used item was the box, the joystick and throttle were clean, all the markings are readable and movement smooth. It looks like you're getting a better deal on the price and if you get to try it before committing all the better. Just make sure you get the driver disk when you take it home. Take the deal, trust me, if you can get a good stick for almost half off you'll kick yourself later if you don't.

Too bad we'll never have a Ramones reunion. Saw them on their farewell tour in 95, at least they knew when to gracefully leave. PiL is back? Hopefully some songs like Rise will be in the future.

So after spending all week including my b-day (thanks for remembering it you b******s!) in Los Angeles I'm finally home. As most of the old timers know, my youngest daughter had thyroid problems a few years back and underwent surgerey for them. Well what was left of here last healthy para-thyroid packed up and quit a couple of months back and the problems returned. So.... now she's expecting her first child (which will probably be wearing a dog collar) and the baby was at risk. This meant surgery on my birthday at Ronald Reagan @ UCLA to fix the immediate danger to the baby. I think that aged me more than the last year but she and the baby are doing fine now. On the plus side I spent some quality time with my wife, Amber's boy friend stayed with her in the hospital, and we relaxed as much as we could when we were not with them. I think the hardest part of the trip was finding place that I could afford and not look like it was in COPS or rent rooms by the hour, stopped going to those places when I got out of the Navy. We found one on Santa Monica that had lets say "character", looked like it was built in the 20's and was clean and quiet. Of course Amber had never stayed in a place like that and it was fun watching her face when we went into our room. Anyway, long week, but my baby girl and grand baby are home and fine.

The difference between us and the ones of which you speak is this, the staff is composed of military Vets who are doing this for the fun and friendship, the other ones fell in love with a rule book and tries to suck the fun out of a hobby. Yes we do have rules but they are there for a smoother running of the group and are less than a page long, unlike one group I know of that has a f**king 10+ page PDF of BS Rules and Regulations. Another thing, we have three members that served together in the same squadron and are now "serving' virtually together again. By all means come and join up, we already have Storm and NavyChief, and me so you know you'll be in good company. -
Congrats Stary on your pending wedding and getting banned, I'm sure you've been kicked out of better places. I went to that place while CA was down and it's not place it was when I started simming. Not that I was unwelcome but I don't know anyone there anymore. Oh yeah....... Yay! CA is back! do you know how lonely I was even though I just come around every so often?

A-F***ing-mazing, I had a kid that we took in get his Bradley hit by an IED and he get's the Purple Heart but where the F**K is his Bronze Star? Actually, this is not new to me, me old boss was a supply Sgt in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star for "running a supply depot perfectly". Hearing that kind of diminished the import of this award in my eyes related to the Army and AF. I concur that she should have turned it down not because of the negative reaction, but as stated earlier, she did not earn it while in direct conflict with enemy forces. No offense to my AF friends here at CA but this is Air Force stupidity at it's best. In my 20 years in the Navy I observed many Navy Achievement Medals awarded to mostly office pukes who knew how to work the system and many of my younger charges or my peers that busted more than their asses to support the mission get dick. While ribbons and medals are nice to have they should be at least earned in the context for which they were intended. As an aside concerning accepting an award or recognition that id undeserved, during the First Gulf War I was a drilling Reservist that was not deployed. After the war the county I work for decided to recognize those in their employ for their service. That included guys like me, my boss put me in for it against my wishes, that did not fight. I made a point of not going to the ceremony because I felt that I DID NOT earn that distinction. I have the letter of appreciation still, but it will never be displayed along with my TRUE military accomplishments at anytime or place, sadly some of the other guys that did not deploy proudly display that bullsh*t piece of paper in their offices as if it were the CMoH. Some have no pride or honor. Better to let an award the one earned pass by than to get one that should be awarded to a more deserving Warrior.

The Odd Angry Shot (1979) Australia Aussie SAS in Viet Nam, so this about 82 or 83 not a bad pic, and not as preachy as that crap Stone was producing.

Seperate IR missile growls?
firehawkordy replied to Haruyuki's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
As a sort of consolation prize there is a sound file that improves the growl considerably. Having worked on almost every weapon system in the Navy the improved file sounds almost like the real one. The lock tone especially changes to a higher more urgent pitch than the default one. You should find it in the "sounds" download library. -
Thought I'd Learned Alot About Adding/Changing Weapons
firehawkordy replied to Geary's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Try this.... This is from your entries... AH-64A LOADOUT.INI // Station 1 = LeftWingTip // Station 2 = RightWingTip // Station 3 = LeftWingTipStingerTop // Station 4 = LeftWingTipStingerBottom // Station 5 = RightWingTipStingerTop // Station 6 = RightWingTipStingerBottom // Station 7 = LeftOuterStation // Station 8 = LeftOuterStation IRM/ARM // Station 9 = RightOuterStation // Station 10 = RightOuterStation IRM/ARM // Station 11 = LeftInnerStation // Station 12 = LeftInnerStation IRM/ARM // Station 13 = RightInnerStation // Station 14 = RightInnerStation IRM/ARM Add to the four BRU stations like this.... AH-64A LOADOUT.INI // Station 1 = LeftWingTip // Station 2 = RightWingTip // Station 3 = LeftWingTipStingerTop // Station 4 = LeftWingTipStingerBottom // Station 5 = RightWingTipStingerTop // Station 6 = RightWingTipStingerBottom // Station 7 = LeftOuterStation // Station 8 = LeftOuterStation IRM/ARM/LGR // Station 9 = RightOuterStation // Station 10 = RightOuterStation IRM/ARM/LGR // Station 11 = LeftInnerStation // Station 12 = LeftInnerStation IRM/ARM/LGR // Station 13 = RightInnerStation // Station 14 = RightInnerStation IIRM/ARM/LGR Changes are in blue, it looks like it is set up for IR and ARM by default. Everything else looks okay to me. You know you are really getting into a lot debt to the Ordnance Mafia One day you may be asked upon for a favor in return, capice? -
Heading down to NAS NI to attend the commissioning of HSM-78. They asked for permission from the HAL-5 members to use our name Bluehawks and we said okay. I think that even if we said no the Navy would have approved the name anyway but it was nice that they asked. Here is a part of the message that was sent to one of our fearless leader's To All Bluehawks! Gents, We decided to use the BLUEHAWKS name for our squadron and are making preparations for an Establishment on 1 March 2012. We chose the name based on the history stemming from the HAL squadrons and would be honored if some former BLUEHAWKS were able to attend the ceremony. I will send out more detailed information later, but I wanted to know if there would be any interest from your side to attend the ceremony. I left out names and such but the meat of the message is what I posted. Never have been to a commissioning, been to a couple of de-comms though so I'm really looking forward to this. To bad this is a drive 350 miles attend and come home. They only reason my wife let me out of the cage is that I'm going with my former Master Chief, she thinks that will keep me under control. Hopefully I can get some good pics and t-shirts.

AH-64 Apache Guns & Is there a SF SWOTL Campaign?
firehawkordy replied to Geary's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Make sure that these weapon classes and attachment types are included in your data entries. Note these are the changes I made for the Foxtrot Seahawk so you can delete the ordnance you don't need. AllowedWeaponClass=RP,LGR,EOGR,GP,WGR,ATR AttachmentType=USAF,USN,NATO -
Helicopter Pylon Problem
firehawkordy replied to Geary's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I'll go out on a limb and say it's not an ordnance problem but it's a job for the AT shop, let the Trons do a wire check. Us Ordies will be in the truck listening to the radio until we can do the load. Sorry, but it's not too often that I can have fun at Sid Dogs expense. Now for the serious part, I don't have the Zulu but I do have the Whiskey so maybe you could use the weapon entries for that as I only have entries for 4 stations and 18 sounds like way too much as you can just add all the weapons classes on the same line. here is what my Whiskey entries look like.... // Weapon Stations -------------------------- [WeaponStation1] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=1 StationGroupID=1 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=-1.4395,0.2050,-0.0287 AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0 LoadLimit=500.0 AllowedWeaponClass=RP,RCKT,EOGR,WGR,ATR,LGR AttachmentType=USAF,USN,USMC ModelNodeName= PylonMass=25 [WeaponStation2] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=2 StationGroupID=2 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=1.4300,0.2050,-0.0423 AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0 LoadLimit=500.0 AllowedWeaponClass=RP,RCKT,EOGR,WGR,ATR,LGR AttachmentType=USAF,USN,USMC ModelNodeName= PylonMass=25 [WeaponStation3] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=3 StationGroupID=3 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=-0.8558,0.0910,-0.1088 AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0 LoadLimit=500.0 AllowedWeaponClass=IRM,EOGR,RCKT,RP,WGR,ATR,LGR AttachmentType=USAF,USN,USMC ModelNodeName= PylonMass=25 [WeaponStation4] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=4 StationGroupID=4 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=0.8672,0.0910,-0.1038 AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0 LoadLimit=500.0 AllowedWeaponClass=IRM,EOGR,RCKT,RP,WGR,ATR,LGR AttachmentType=USAF,USN,USMC ModelNodeName= PylonMass=25 Hope this will help you out either as a start point or a replacement for the original entries. -
I hear you, rather work on Hotels myself. When I talked to some of my buds in 85 a few years back about the Romeo the flew from N.I. to Mugu they weren't too happy about the birds range among other things. That said the Romeo or something like it was what the HCS community should have had from the beginning. Too bad 78 is not really a HAL-5 legacy squadron but I hope that they live up to our name. Your buds going there should be proud to be Bluehawks.

So my baby girl, the one I raised with the help of my parents came over to the house yesterday. I got the wonderful news that I'm going to be a grandfather again. This is her first and her boyfriend is scrambling to find a better paying job. However he is an undesirable and you know what happens with undesirables and daughters....... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-zG5U0v3gU Well, he's not that bad, she's been with him for almost four years and I have not had to kill him yet.

As most of you know from an earlier post, what I thought was the flu over the Xmas weekend turned out to be acute renal failure and spent 4 days over the New Years weekend in hospital. After getting seen by the doc today I was told I could return to work next week and all my labs came back in the clear. The one worry is my blood sugar is now on the high side but that might be because I didn't have to fast, we'll see on the next test. From what i was told, I was within hours of a complete renal shutdown and the infection that caused all the problems was just barely held in check the first 24 hours. Had I not listened to the wife I would have really been in the hurt locker. On the plus side, my blood pressure is down to a normal number for the first time in 10 years and I've lost 20 pounds over the last week. Having said that, I am getting back to my normal grouchy self and proving once and for all that I am too stupid or stubborn to die.

So, I did take advantage of my sick time to finish this diorama. The figures are WH40K Catachans with new heads, packs and modified weapons. The base went together fast and the figures were the most time consuming element. The scene is a near future conflict but is based on stories I heard from shipmates, histories of the Brown Water Navy and countless movies, manga and anime. I was going to add a dangerous critter of some sort but doing the early staging decided to just use the four troopers. Sometimes a few figures in a scene can tell volumes better than an overcrowded diorama that has no sense of plot.
