  1. Close Call

He's in our prayers. We know about luck and Angels, one of the boys that grew up in our house just got back from over there. His Bradley took an RPG and was knocked out for a couple of days. The only lasting reminder is that he needs glasses now. BTW, it does help to vent to friends after something like this.
  2. Museum Tomcats Siezed

The news report pretty much says it all. I hate to the guy that cleared them for release to the museums in question. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,257219,00.html
  3. 2006 Idiot awards!

The scary thing not that these folks are allowed to vote, it that they are able to reproduce.
  4. Pub?

The Ordies and Ammo Troops drank it all and left with the Barmaids. If you want them back send us the best that Germany has to offer!!!!!!!!!!! BTW, my avatar is the label for Arrogant Bastard Ale, best that San Diego has to offer.
  5. Brittiny spears

Whats the big deal? Sinaed O'Conner did it first. At least she's not wearing a diaper and stalking a rival.
  6. Only in Los Angeles

I have nothing to add to this, just read it and have a good laugh. http://news.aol.com/entertainment/articles...S00010000000001
  7. Windows Vista Problems

Another reason I wont be getting vista any time soon.
  8. FS9 v Flight Simulator X

I may get my a** in a sling over my reply but in my opinion this is a good place for info dealing with FSX/FS9, so sorry in advance to the moderators. As you have noticed the MSFS section of this forum is kind of slow lately so I'd recommend SimHQ. This is the link the the Flight Sim board..... http://www.simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?...st&Board=54 The posts are recent and replies current and for the most part timely. If you want info for the Strike Fighters series of games this is THE place to be. Now, as I have FS9 installed, I've been asking around the server I fly on about FSX. Most of my friends are telling me not to waste my money and quite a few have already un-installed FSX and have gone back to FS9. Personally I'm staying with FS9 for as long as possible. That should be for a long time too, after all look at how many NEW items for FS98 are released on Flightsim.com every week. FSX has great potential however at this time the needed hardware is either not produced yet or too expensive for the average player to obtain. Most of your questions have already been answered at SimHQ, just take your time to sort out all the info there, do your homework on FSX vs FS9, and take opinions with a grain of salt. Best of luck.
  9. Some shots from the USS Midway

I finally got around to adding the pics from my trips to San Diego last Nov. and Dec. Here's a few...
  10. Some shots from the USS Midway

Ghost, I got a chance to fly both the F-4 and F-8 sims. Paid for an hour and wound up flying for 90 minutes. The retired Cdr that was running the sims was a China Lake alumnus and served with my best friend over there and knew me through Charlie and my reputation, though I'm not sure which rep . I assume it wasn't the good one as he had me shooting Case 1 through 3 approaches on the boat. Later found out that my friends there were giving suggestions on what to throw at me. If anyone gets the chance to play with those simulators, take it it's worth the money. As For Chief Link, I'm not sure. I know I've heard the name but can't pace her face. I'll see if she's in the dis-establishment program. One more thing about the DeCom weekend, The Squadron had a get together onboard the Midway the Friday evening prior to the ceremony. Along with seeing old friends we were honored with the company of former HA(L)-3 and HC-7 members. To talk to those men and their families, to hear how Navy CSAR and Special Warfare started out by the men who actually wrote the book was humbling. More pics of the HCS-5 weekend are here... http://hal-5.org/hcs-5_disband.htm
  11. Some shots from the USS Midway

Here's some more along with a couple from HCS-5's Dis-establishment ceremony. The long shot is the Nimitz and Reagan tied up at NAS North Island.
  12. Can Anyone Tell Me....

Why am I listed as an "Elite Member" but have a banner proclaiming me as a "Junior Member" in the Junior Member group. Do you know how hard I worked to be a posting freak? Could this be fixed ? Thanks.
  13. Need some input on a new proccesser

I'm in the process of getting a new machine. Due to the price and where I'm getting it from I have the choice of a Celeron D or a AMD Sempron 3200+. Which is would be best for FS9, LOMAC, and the Strike Fighters series? I'm getting the new machine sometime tomorrow so I have to get an idea soon. Thanks in advance.
  14. Need some input on a new proccesser

I managed to swing an Anthalon, I'll get it this thursday. Thanks for the replies.
  15. Can Anyone Tell Me....

Thanks Erik for the info, I try to check the forums daily but lately I dont seem to have the time, something about my wife expecting me to go to work every weekday. As for you Nesher my friend, at least I can laugh at myself with you.
  16. How Cold Is It Where You're From?

It was 25f this morning when I got up at 5:00 this morning here in Kern County, Calif. It's been this way since the middle of last week. Seems that the East Coast got our weather and we got theirs. To make things worse, I spend half my time outside on a forklift with no protection. It's not really that funny as almost the entire Citrus crop among others is completely wiped out. The estimate is almost $2 BILLION in losses.
  17. Heads up!!

Fates is right about the training part. If you notice the guys in the back are all giving the "Suspend" signal to stop all movement on the roof. I'm sure that all the phone talkers are screaming for a Corpsman also. This looks like it was on Cat2 so the Medical personel are at the Island about a hundred feet away. Let this be a lesson, a little parnoia and keeping your head on a swivel shall help you live to be an old man.
  18. 1 Photo = 1000 Words

Some people don't understand "nose" art on tactical aircraft. Ugly is the point, I've worked with USMC Cobra units in the past and those things scare the hell out of me. Nesher, it dosent look like photo shop, the pilots in the first 4 snakes are looking in different directions. Hope you are doing well.
  19. don't ya miss these places to play on MP

As Flightsim was the first MP "game I have ever used I do miss the Bio-Hazard server. I cut my online teeth there driving MJ and others insane with my dial up connection. Sorry about that. As for the Zone, I dont really miss it as the FS2004 players we would get on the server I now reside at found more fun disrupting ATC sessions and crashing into other players. Just my 2cents.
  20. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIDEWINDER86

    IYAOYAS, Happy Birthday 'winder!
  21. IYAOYAS, As most of you all know I lost my father earlier this year. As his last wish was to be buried at sea, he asked the machine shop to make his urn. This is the question, the urn is an stainless steel replica of a 16" rifle round. As such it looks like it like a live piece of ordnance. I am haveing it etched " INERT, NO EXPLOSIVES INSTALLED" along with his name and service bio , should I have the blue bands painted on to be sure? I am serious about this as I have to put my father in it and dont want him disturbed at a later date. I also trust and respect the Ordies of all branches opinions in a matter such as this. Thanks in advance guys IYAOYAS
  22. Happy B-Day MadJeff

You mean I'm older than MJ ??????? Nooooooo! Happy B-day Mad Jeff
  23. Greatest Military-Based Movie

Forgot about "A Bridge To Far", another one from the early '80's that was outstanding is "The Big Red One". Lee Marvin's charachter was very belivable in that film. Another two good Naval movies, Away All Boats They Were Expendable
  24. Your Favorite 'Oldies'

Now this makes me feel old, if my wife hadn't tossed my old C64 I'd still be messing around with Stealth Mission.
  25. Heres a test for you Virtual pilots

B-52, Old, loud, mean and dangerous.
