  1. The Weekend From Hell...

PC, My prayers are with you and yours. I live in Kern County and we up here have been watching this monster closely. I know from experiance the angxity you must have felt. In May of '96 I had to leave for a deployment and a firebug set not one but seven grass fires on my side of town. Heading down I5 with all that smoke in your mirror and not knowing if you have a home to go back too was nerve wraking. Hope they catch the SOBs who did this. Good luck and like I said our prayers are with you.
  2. Vacation Pics- Uss Yorktown

Nice, I wish I could get to that side of the country to see that. This one thing SoCal lacks, too far to drive to Alameda[ I'm cheap too] Very nice shots by the way.
  3. I second that. The Fulda Gap was key area to both NATO and the Warsaw Pact. Just think, tank plinking in soggy weather...
  4. Aggghhh Crew Changes In A Bell 214!!

Beer, The closest Helo to the 214 I worked on is the HH-1K gunship. The 214's got hte Huey linage so the are dependable. I think they were developed for the civilian market so they have a little more sound proofing too. Have fun in them and don't forget your Blue Card B)
  5. Last Flight

The Concorde made its last flight yesterday. Operating costs and the Tree Huggers are what killed it. Too bad, it was such a beautiful bird.
  6. A Sim I'd Like To See Developed

I'd like to see Marine Air in a Sim. Littoral warfare, CAS, and strikes no further than 25mi. from the beach.
  7. Got it, now I can't wait to fly it.
  8. A Navy Joke.....

I remember making surfing trips to Orlando from Mayport, you know, to ride the WAVES. Chief, do you realise that what we got away with in the "good old days" would get you kicked out or thrown in the Brig? :o Ayway if you couldn't get lucky in Orlando on the weekend there was something wrong with you.
  9. The four most dangerous things in the Navy: A Seaman who says " I learned this in A school." An Ensign who says " Based on my experiance." A Second Class saying "Trust me sir." And last but not least, A Chief who laughs and says " Watch this S*#t." Any addendons?
  10. A Navy Joke.....

People on 'ludes shouldn't post. Hey Seawolf, you do know that the AW is the natural prey of the untamed AO?. All in fun, we'er all brother Airdales B)
  11. A Navy Joke.....

Give a DIV. chief two things, A DIV. officer that stays out of the way. And LPO's that can get thier people motivated. With this they preform miricles. B)
  12. Some Aircraft Carrier Ops Trivia

Cheif, Were you berthed on the 03 level, two compartments foreward of the fantail? If so that was my neighborhood for a few years. And the AC still didn't work. :D One of the only sights I saw that left it's mark was watching the EA-3's fly onboard from Rota. Any thing that could fly off the boat would, then the controlled crashes and fun would begin. Looked the builders plate of one of those things. The acceptance date is still in my mind, 12DEC59, seven months older than me.
  13. Some Aircraft Carrier Ops Trivia

Cheif, Before I was an AO striker, I was an undesignated, nonrated Grape in V4 on the Sara. This was in '79-'81, and things must have had changed quickly as I never saw what you saw in the hanger. The big thing now is risk management, not a bad thing. The only fueling in the hanger is with the A/C completely shut down except for deck edge power. I think the only ordnance loads you would see is with training rounds, the brass colored ones not the blue ones :D
  14. I Said Goodbye To Armand Today......

:( My deepest sympathies Chief. I lost my MissyYu to cancer last year, and to make that decision to end her pain was the hardest thing I've had to do. My cats are family members first, pets second, and loved always. Hang in there Shipmate
