Lothar, did you ever look into one of those 3rd party downloads that adds the start button back in.

What OS are you running now? 8 has it's fans and it's haters. Anyone here running OFF on 8? This is interesting, windows is getting ready to release 8.1 and it will add back in the start menu. http://www.zdnet.com/windows-8-1-the-return-of-the-start-button-7000016535/

You've lots of options to choose from there. I've only used 8 on daughter's laptop for a 1/2 hour or so. I thought the interface was better suited to a fancy phone or tablet device. No clue as to which would run OFF better. You might want to try 8 on a friend or relative's computer, or even at a computer store before deciding. I didn't know 7 was still being sold on PCs, so it's good you have a choice.

Windows 8....Have you tried this OS? I only ask as some people detest it's user interface.

I wound up bumping up Nvidia control panel settings and the game looked better and ran just as fast or a hair faster. Anyone have any control panel settings they would like to share? Much of this confusing and to me.

If the tethering/hold down cable of a balloon was destroyed, would the balloon float away?

They drop in tragjectory fast, but in a near vertical dive there is no loss of trajectetory. Just practice some. It's very hard to hit a moving plane with them, but if you're about to collide with one....blast it! I practice in quick combat with unlimited weapons. Angle of attack and distance are the biggies. Kinda reminds me of throwing snowballs when I was a kid..... and Archery hunting since my preteen years

4th pic is the best chance for a score. opps I see your plane now in pic 4. Thought that was from your pilot view. Try 90 degrees or as close as you can get instead of up and down the track line. Now blowing a bridge is easier with the train track line.

Yeah, I attended junior high in the Carter era when we had to learn metric. The decimal system is easy, but we, the USA, never did adopt much of it One meter is roughly 3 feet. Good enough for flying but not construction. I prefer metric when machining. Used to run CNC machines and all was done metric even if spec were fractional english. Sometimes I still gotta think when comparing fluid volumes between the two. Cooking can be a PITA when conversions come in. Drinking is easy, jusy but the bigger bottle.....

I'm a sopwith man, although I do enjoy the Halb and early albatros, even lasted 25 hours in an EIII with 14 kills. The visibility in the Sops is great and I read the guages easily. Ammo is low Love the German skins, sometimes I'm so inthralled in the paint job I almost forget to pull the trigger. I need a good Pup skin.... I've a French pilot in a Nieup 16 that is doing well. Twithchy bird with low ammo, fair fight with the EII's I think. Crazy fighting over the mud low altitude, but that is where we wind up often. He has come very close to crashing many times...

~s~ Lothar! That got rid of many minor issues I was having. Much of the trouble I was having were probably of my own creation, there is just so many OFF... "aps" that I was confused despite having read the info a few times. Do any of the mates come to blows? I haven't experienced it ... yet. There is one chap I'd like to do so with... the cook...LoL I've never tried to play this sim online, I'm stuck with dial-up, but the off-line interaction you've created is adding more to the sim.

Yep, gotta aim for the boiler, spent 35 rounds or so. Three attacks with short bursts of 3 or 4, at very close range, have to pull up quick or crash into the iron beast. I've tried it before a few times various ways with little impact. What worked for me was flying low and fast at about a 90 angle to the boiler, gotta anticipate where it will be or the angle is off. Pick a spot with no trees.!..and swoop in. Don't want to be too high or the Pup gets the shakes at high speed. I had to pull off on first swoop. Altitude for attack was lower than I originally tried, speed is important and tricky, about 100 to 125, don't pull the trigger till the boiler is very close, and pull up medium hard. Are there any ships about? I get Lone Wolf missions that have a map/waypoint taking me over sea, but I've done my own thing.Just didn't see the point of flying to England and back, if I didn't know there was a chance in running into a ship or U-boat.

Yes, the Kaiser isn't stingy with ammo. Even the bombers have a decent amount in the forward gun. Those early French planes with 194 rounds are a challenge.

I'm on dial-up and seldom update to a beta, just takes too long. I visited a friend with high speed, gave him a list that didn't include this, but he tossed it on anyway. I'm impresses with this driver. Coming from 314.somthing that was a windows suggested D/L. Did notice frame rate increase, I'm running adaptive v-sync @ 60, noticed higher frame rates at game start while firing up the plane and forming up. They went from 40's to max @60 and steady with no stutters. Made a differnece in Dog fights and flying low over heavily rendered terrain. I'm running a 660 Ti top Asus 2gb. Used to have issues with all sliders to 5 in south where the are moutains. This flixed that issue. No need to to turn down anything. I'd like to chat about Nvidia control panel settings. My af is 4x, aa is 16x csaa

He put a few rounds into my Roland, but my rear gunner put a few into him and he fled, engine smoking moderately. I took the flight of 3 back over the mud and I landed at the nearest airbase as my control of the plane was very difficult.

I think I'll install OFFice today. Best read up on the FAQ first.

Be careful when flying "Lone Wolf"

This guy is on a mission to mees up Jasta 2, me specifically. I swear I destroyed him and his nieuport about 3 weeks ago while we were escorting 4 Rolands. Then his whole squad swarmed me like pissed off yellow jackets. They broke off dogfights and tag teamed me to the mud as my wingmen desperately tried to help. Today a scramble mission is what we faced. Guess who comes screaming down to put a few rounds into my trusty albatros just after the engine fires up? Yep, my new bff Albert Ball. Question... Will historical aces regenerate until their actual/historical date of death occurs?
