  1. Any idea if this translates to steam as well?
  2. Wargame Series sale on Steam/Amazon

I know this crew is a bunch of flight simmers, but for the cold war strategy buffs out there, the Wargame series is on sale on Steam! The second two installations include air power in their unit lists. I think the games have something like 1600 units modeled. Pretty good deal for any strategy fans!
  3. Wargame Series sale on Steam/Amazon

I think it is actually just selling Steam codes. I only ever played European Escalation. I picked up ALB and RD, so I'm pretty excited to jump into it. How do the air units work? Is it pretty awesome?
  4. Does everyone just fly their own campaign? Or we we all pick a specific campaign and fly it and track our progress?
  5. Wargame Series sale on Steam/Amazon

http://www.amazon.com/Focus-Home-Interactive-Wargame-Download/dp/B00J5SX6MM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1423774644&sr=8-1&keywords=wargame+red+dragon http://www.amazon.com/Wargame-Airland-Battle-Online-Game/dp/B00CIY9MJQ/ref=pd_sim_vg_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=04CV7EKSHB12EBB772PR http://www.amazon.com/Focus-Home-Interactive-40960-Escalation1/dp/B007BUA0AM/ref=pd_sim_vg_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=04CV7EKSHB12EBB772PR There it is on amazon. That's 75% off. Same deal is on steam. Red Dragon (the newest one) is 9.99, AirLand Battle is 4.99, and European Escalation (the first one) is 2.49. All USD. Also - 100th Post!
  6. Sounds good! I like the "military" like structure that your campaign/mission sets have. No overtly heroic type stuff, just a pilot flying for his side. Very cool.
  7. TIE Corps

For those TIE/X-Wing Pilots lurking about the Combatace Forum, you should come and check out the Emperor's Hammer TIE Corps. It's basically just an online club that has regular competitions (single player and multiplayer) in regards to the Star Wars PC games (mostly the "flight sims"). It's a great community of Star Wars fans and we could use some more folks! It's a pretty fun crew and a great community. You can be as active in it as you want to be, If you end up joining, throw me a shout-out. In that crowd I go by Sparky, my pin is 13050. http://tc.emperorshammer.org/ Hopefully I'll see you all around there as well! PS - One last thought. They have a download section that has TONS of battles/missions for all the Star Wars flight games. Lots of great stuff there.
  8. So I've got a good mod setup that covers nearly every major air conflict through the 80s. There are a few campaign downloads I see for more modern type campaigns and was hoping I could rely on the expertise of the group here to pick a couple to try. Any recommendations for a good modern campaign DL for SF2 (merged)?
  9. Brrrrrrrrrrr!

I do love that fleece though.
  10. I had no idea this place existed! That's awesome.
  11. Brrrrrrrrrrr!

I lived up in Alaska for a while once upon a time, and folks used to use those dry suits and surf the waves of Sitka. Looks awesome, but oh so very cold. But apparently the waves are worth it.
  12. Developer Interview: Into the Stars

Wow, looks super cool! I wonder if it has any similarities to Bridge Commander. I mean, that's the dream, right? Being a captain of a starship and commanding your crew? I think that's awesome. Hopefully this ends up as cool as it looks.
  13. Il-2 '46 - North Africa!

That's impressive! Especially all the ground stuff added at the airfields. Might have to re install ol' IL-2 1946 and give it a go.
  14. Il-2 '46 - North Africa!

Wow, outstanding. Is this the stock 4.12 IL-2 1946?
  15. Reading about those men gives me the chills. It's humbling to read about this man (who I consider a hero - and I generally think the term "hero" is overused, but this man fits the bill), who says: When the call went out in early 1942 for volunteers for a secret mission, Saylor signed up. He did not expect that he would one day be called a hero. In his late 80s, Saylor still did not see himself as such. "There is no way you can call yourself a hero," he said in 2009. "That is for someone else to say."
  16. Agreed here. I think it depends on what type of campaign you're looking for. I love the SF2:Europe because it has quick moving campaigns and you can see the frontlines ebb and flow. It really feels like you're part of a massive full spectrum war effort. You get that same vibe in Israel (which has my fave stock terrain), as well as NA to some extent (ooo and stock SF2 has that same feel). But Vietnam feels like the real deal. You'll sweat out the SAMs and AA fire and feel great just to survive. All of them have their perks, and a fully merged install is great. Especially because you could have your same pilot fly through all the campaigns (which I think is kinda fun). Also - it really depends on what airframe you're looking for. Bottom line for me - any of them are great. They all have good things, and there are mods (as stated previously) that will enhance any of the experiences.
  17. Does everyone know how to add missions to XvT?

Well you can just blame that on an overzealous Y-Wing squadron commander. Just trying to get the Corvette stenciled on the side of his fighter...
  18. Does everyone know how to add missions to XvT?

And yes. I do. Pretty simple. And awesome.
  19. XvT-BoP "Headhunter TOD"

Nice! I'm totally stoked to check this campaign out when I get home today.
  20. GoG did it again!

I was able to get the upgrade working, but I also had a copy of the disk to use. I reckon they'll get a fix up soon enough. Because it looks absolutely amazing with the upgrade.
  21. Homeworld 1 & 2 Remastered

I can see both sides, but from my experience, I've never had any issues playing my single player games offline. There are some games on there where you can find .exe files online that essentially make it so you don't need steam anymore.
  22. GoG did it again!

And the next round was released. Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight, Republic Commando, and Starfighter. Never played Starfighter or Jedi Knight (but would love to). Republic Commando is a great FPS. Lots of fun, lots of atmosphere.
  23. The 'new' X-Wing/TIE Fighter series...

Outstanding. I really want to find that mission referenced in the youtube video...
  24. Heavy Bombers in sims

Maybe a bad place to ask. But are any of you guys aware of a sim or mod that reasonably successfully models WW2 Heavy bombing? I have the Mighty 8th...but hoping for something a bit newer.
