  1. Thanks for the detailed explanation. As often is the case..my SF2 install is a house of cards..
  2. Forgive me, I'm rusty. I wanted to check out the A-1 Skyraider in my newfound VR obsession and I can't seem to find a way to either single mission or campaign mission the Skyraider. I'm using (and have been for years) the awesome SF2V Air & Ground War Expansion, and I see the A-1 in my aircraft directories, but I can't see where any of the campaigns that I have mention the A-1. Is there a quick fix to add it in? A few years back, I think I could have figured this one out, but I'm a bit rusty now on the relationship between the A-1H.ini, CAMPAIGN.INI, and USERLIST (which I can't even find..!).... Throw me a life ring..haha..
  3. I did get SF2 Vietnam Air & Ground War Expansion working - I had to reinstall it and then the EXE worked fine with vorpX. Now I'll go on to Phase II - taking a look at the aircraft cockpit INI files to see how to most improve the view and seat position while in VR. I'm not familiar with all of that stuff, but I do see values that look like they may free up the ability to look all around as opposed to being constrained to certain degrees left, right, up and down. I'm I correct that the SF2 cockpits are not 6DOF (I won't be able to lean forward and back or tilt my head - just left/right up/down right?)... 4. OK..sorry for the stream of consciousness posting. This is from the Green Hell 3.5 Enhancement READ ME.txt and I think it implies while GH 3.5 + Enhancement pack might not be perfect with SF2V Air & Ground War Expansion, it is largely OK: As noted above, the SF2V Expansion Pack ships with an enhanced version of Green Hell 2.0 tile set. The numerous custom target areas in the Expansion Pack were hand-placed with an eye towards exploiting the particular visual features of the GH 2.0 tile set in order to make buildings, vehicles look as though they "belonged" in the places you find them. As the GH 3.5 tile set is a complete departure from (not a mere revision of) the GH 2.0 tile set, some of the ground target items might look a bit oddly placed in some target areas with GH 3.5. Thankfully, the GH 3.5 tile set is quite forgiving visually speaking (much more than the earlier GH 3.0) -- so much so that in most cases the worst you'll see is trees crowding buildings just a bit too much.
  5. So I tried overwriting with the original SF2V Air & Ground War Expansion tiles..which are based on the Green Hell 2 tiles (?)..and, to be honest, I don't think it looks as good as GH 3.5..or is this not what it is supposed to look like? The colors are more vibrant, which I thought the 3.5 ones looked a bit more gritty and appropriately depressing (LOL)....but maybe I have my install screwed up?
  6. Hmm..OK, I thought I had gotten that right. So I guess I need to fix that. Would the best order of operations for that be: ? Overwrite the terrain folders with GH2 from the SF2V Air & Ground War Expansion Overwrite again with the SF2V Air & Ground War Expansion Pack 2.0 Terrain Update I tried the optional Skyraider cockpit by Stary that uses the F-8 cockpit and sort of liked it, but I'll take a look at the Dels one too!
  7. So I bit the bullet and did a total reinstall of SF2 Air & Ground War Expansion Pack + updates + Green Hell 3.5 + Green Hell Enhancements.. Wow..what a package! Green Hell 3.5 looks fantastic (Stary is THE MAN!) - more subdued colors and just awesome. With the newly updated package, the SF2 Vietnam executable is working with vorpX and it is awesome! I'll get some through the lens pictures tomorrow..but I did record a bit of my 2D monitor while flying in VR...
  8. OK, I can finally move SF2 Vietnam Expansion up into the WORKING category! I did a total clean reinstall of that mod and right now it is working. Now to add in some of the mods that I had added to that to juice things up a bit....
  9. Right on. I got my A-1 working..now if I could just get SF2 Vietnam to launch and play nice with vorpX I'd be a happy camper. Most of the other SF2 modded executables are working fine with it, but of course, the one I really want to work isn't...
  10. OK..thanks for the tips guys. Got my A-1s back by grabbing the file out of SF2V_AG-XP_v2_Part3 Objects/Aircraft folder and those files still have the flyable status in there. Thanks!!
  11. OK..yeah, referencing Wrench's How to Make AI Planes Flyable guide, I can see that my A-1s do not have the properties that would make them flyable for some reason...
  12. I see the A-1s in the various campaign and campaign data INIs, but I don't know how to tell if they are AI only...
  13. So far I have Working: Strike Fighters 2 (generic) SF2 Odyssey Dawn SF2 War For Israel SF2 Operation Darius SF2 North Atlantic SF2 Europe SF2 Red Storm Rising SF2 Vietnam Air & Ground War Expansion NOT WORKING: SF2 Operation Desert Storm (probably just needs to be reinstalled)
  14. So yeah, I've been trying to get the StrikeFighters2 Vietnam.exe to work with Vorp-X, but I keep getting a crash right after I try to launch a mission. That version is probably my most heavily modded version/exe I'm running..I'll keep running some tests and build a list of executables that are working...
  15. This look about right? BuildDate=Jul 2013 StrikeFighters2=TRUE StrikeFighters2 Vietnam=TRUE StrikeFighters2 Europe=TRUE StrikeFighters2 Israel=TRUE StrikeFighters2 Exp1=FALSE StrikeFighters2 Exp2=TRUE StrikeFighters2 NorthAtlantic=FALSE StrikeFighters2 Exp3=FALSE
  16. I'm in the infancy of exploring Vorp-X with Strike Fighters 2 - but I love what I see so far. * Standard disclaimer * - I bought Vorp-X for $40 and feel I'm now squeezing my money out of it with Strike Fighters 2 (and hopefully EECH) - but I'd caution people to read the reviews of Vorp-X and understand it does require some tweaking, although I think it is pretty easy to work with. Anyway..I would just caution that Vorp-X isn't a magic VR bullet but it does work quite well so far with my HP Reverb and SF2. With that out of the way - I agree with all GKABS has said, except I HAVE gotten it to work fine with both vanilla SF2, and the SF2 War for Israel campaign. I tried it with my heavily modded SF2 Vietnam exe and it crashes..so not sure what is going on with that. But it is rock steady with SF2 and SF2 War for Israel (the heavily modded one, not the stock Israel). Some screens I've caught the past two days through the lens. The resolution is much, much better in the headset..these are just crappy grabs by holding my iPhone up to the lens so they are way blurrier than in the Reverb... I'll post up a video shortly. I won't post my settings or anything quite yet as I'm still very new to Vorp-X and will try to do some trial and error before getting specific.
  17. So..umm...this actually works..! Strike Fighters 2.. Been messing around with it for a couple of hours and..well..it works. More details to follow, but it works. These are "through the lens" pics with my iPhone through my HP Reverb. I'll post more tomorrow because I need to do some tweaking...
  18. I'm so sorry to hear this. What a nightmare.
  19. So before I go tearing my SF2 install apart (well, I already sort of tried) - I moved my SF2 from my old computer to my new computer. I think I put everything in its proper places (user files, mod directories), but for some reason when I start up, my keyboard is not recognized. I can't even type in a pilot name, and when launch a mission, I can't use any keyboard commands (joysticks work fine). Anyone have a quick guess on where I went wrong? I've tried deleting "default.ini" in a few places, but can't seem to hit on the right combination to get a default keyboard that works. Kinda stumped... Regards... BeachAV8R
  20. So...thank goodness I didn't get all .ini happy. I went into the attic, grabbed another keyboard. And it works fine with SF2. Odd thing is..the one that isn't working (Saitek) DID work with my older computer and SF2. So it must be a somewhat newer driver or something that isn't playing nice with the Saitek keyboard. I'll do some further experimenting, but I definitely found my problem.
  21. Hey Stary - (I can't send you a PM) - apologies for the thread bump! Greetings again and hope this finds you doing well. I had a quick question - a Google search came up with your post - so that's how I found it was you. Anyway, I was wondering if you had any additional success with Vorp-X and Strike Fighters 2 beyond what you posted in this thread. I haven't pulled the trigger on Vorp-X simply because it has such mixed reviews. It would be completely worth the price though if I could get both Strike Fighters 2 and perhaps EECH working with my HP Reverb (WMR headset). I think those two titles could really stretch out their awesomeness with the addition of VR. So what do you think - was your experimentation worth it or not ya' think? Thanks for any further thoughts you might have on the matter.
  22. One other factor, that I really don't know the answer to, is that the original Strike Fighters series started out in 2002. There are people out there that would probably enjoy the game that weren't even born then. Strike Fighters 2 came out in 2008, so there are probably some people that are now old enough to be interested in Strike Fighters, that have just plain never heard about it. It really would need to be re-marketed..and I'd argue that keeping the Strike Fighters 2 name does not really help. A bit of a rebranding with some new features might work wonders. I still think the key to success would be multiplayer (probably moreso than VR) but apparently that is hugely expensive. The hype that would be generated by watching half a dozen of us fly in MP on a strike against Haiphong or Port Stanley or Reykjavik would be phenomenal. I'm convinced that there is a market for SF2 type gameplay, but it has to be brought into the light by both the developer and us fans if we can get some improvements to showcase.
