OK, VonS, if I understand you correctly, you're running FE2 and getting the rockets to work. I matched your folder pic (using files extracted from the cat file) and it still doesn't work. What's in your guns and weapons files? I have nothing in guns and only the stock weapons in Weapons (derived from the extracted Weapons.ini file and the SF2 Weapons editor).

question on installing FE aircraft into FE2
cperleberg replied to xeroluck's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Do the same editors work? I can't get them to. The "FE2 Weapons Editor" here doesn't see FE2; the SF2 weapons editor doesn't see it either. -
I reinstalled the game, and now I get bombs on the SE5a. Still no rockets, though.
-
Well, I still can't get anything to work (I can't even get bombs to appear on the stock SE5as). Set everything up like SF2 (weapons and guns in Objects folder, Le Prieur rockets in weapons folder in three sub folders.) I notice there is a weapons.dat file in the .cat files.

In SF2, the weapons folder is beneath Objects. And there doens't seem to be a weapons.ini file.

Instant Action Crashes
cperleberg posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I'm having trouble with Instant Action crashing (hard) on my installed mods (in this case, India/Pak). Searching through the files here, I'm told to change two files: Options.ini and Flight/instantaction.ini. Doesn't work. Start-up crashes hard at 30%. This is what I've done: Changed the instant action section in options.ini to this: [instantAction] AircraftType=Sabre6_PAF MissionMap=IndiaPak StartTime=16:30:00 StartDate=06/18/1965 StartTimeDeviation=120 TextureSet=0 NationalMarking=0 SquadronMarking=0 AircraftNumber=0 KillMarking=0 and changed the instantaction.ini section to this: [AircraftMission001] AircraftType=Sabre6_PAF Name=GUNSLINGER FormationType=USFighter Size=1 RandomChance=100 MissionType=INTERCEPT ObjectiveID=2 Position=390020.000,554500.000,6100.0 Heading=0.0 Speed=250.0 FuelPercent=40 Alignment=FRIENDLY Loadout=AirToAir Aircraft[01].AircraftNumber=1 Waypoint[01].Position=393000.000,559000.000,1000.0 Waypoint[01].Size=1000.0 Waypoint[01].Command=CAS Waypoint[01].Speed=200.0 I've also changed the mission map to IndiaPak. Note that I've also deleted all the other IA missions (I don't play IA, but don't want it to crash if I accidentally hit that option). What am I missing? Chris P. -
Instant Action Crashes
cperleberg replied to cperleberg's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
OK, fixed it. You need to do a little bit more to get things to work. The problem occurs because the obhectives and waypoints in InstantAction.ini don't correspond to the actual map. First, you need to change the options.ini file as noted. Then you need to start the mod, go into Single Mission, create a mission with the same aircraft you used in the Options.ini. Save the mission to a file. Close the program. Copy the MissionData, Weather, and AircraftMission001 data from the .msn file to the instantacttion file, overwriting the data there. Delete the other mission files. Close the file. Things should now work. Chris P. -
Removing Radar
cperleberg posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
How do you remove the radar capability from an aircraft. I have a Folland Gnat (from Checksix?) that has a radar coded in it somewhere (there's the upper right screen -- with nothing in it -- and I can set different radar modes.. The Gnat never had a radar, AFAIK. I've treid removing sections from Cockpit_Data.ini, but no joy. Chris P. (Searched, but couldn't find this particualr problem). -
Removing Radar
cperleberg replied to cperleberg's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Well, I eventually figured it out -- I replaced everything in the avionics.ini file with the radar ranging gunsight from the F-86. Who wouldn't fly a Gnat? Folland also made a Midge.... -
Hey, is there any way to zoom the map in and out during a mission? Chris P.

Map Viewing
cperleberg replied to cperleberg's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Yup, that does it, thanks. (This game could use a little more documentation, AFAIC. For example, I discovered a couple of new hot key possibilities (Arrestor Hook for example) by going through the Defaults.ini file. Chris P. -
How do you set up the loadout tga so that the background is transparent? I think it has something to do with alpha channels and transparency, but for the life of me all I ever get is a blank screen. Anybody help? Chris P. (I did search the site first, but couldn't find any info on this topic)

Load-out tga
cperleberg replied to cperleberg's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I'm using Paint Shop Pro at the moment. Last thing I tried was to create a transparent background, paste the aircraft shape over it (paste transparent), then move the selection to an alpha channel. Save the whole thing as a tga. Comes out as a blank.
