Polish Anatra DS "Anasal"
Crawford replied to Stephen1918's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2 File Announcements
No, Stephen, the Poles never bought planes at Anatra Plant. This Anasal with Sagittarius on board, for example, was a trophy that the Poles seized on April 19, 1919 from the Reds in Wilno (Vilnius). Earlier, this aircraft (serial 815) was part of the 3rd Artillery Air Squadron of the Workers' and Peasant' s Red Air Fleet. -
Shadow line from plane to ground?
Crawford replied to 33LIMA's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
It's a LOD problem and not repairable without the MAX files - the engine doesn't interpret them properly when processing shadows, unless the author finds the max file and puts a few stitches on it. It is the result of a "flaw" in the 3D model and can't be fixed by an .INI change. This is not a "bug" of the engine, or a fault of the modders, 'cause in the early days of SFP1 the shadow system was rudimentary, buggy, required to create a separate 3D model for the shadow. So, most players played without shadows, and most modders couldn't test their model properly (as they couldn't determine whether the fault was one of some parts of their original 3D model, or of the shadow 3D model). An easy way is to just change the "CastShadow=" to FALSE also eliminates the problem for that aircraft. However, I never had a similar problem with stock Camels! -

In the field units of the German aviation of that era, the principle of the diversity of the machines adopted was dominant. Of the linear machines at the beginning of the war, of course, Albatrosses of all early types, as well as Rumplers, Aviatiks, LVG and DFW. In the summer of 1917 - Albatrosses from C.III to C.X, Rumplers mainly C.Ia, and DFW C.V. Roland C.II "Whales" were sometimes met in Galicia and the Baltic in the form of single specimens. Of the fighters, first are the Pfalz eindekkers, and of course the Fokkers. The Fokker E was the most massive fighter of the German Army on the Eastern Front. The first armed eindekkers by Fokker E.II - they began to operate in the winter of 1915-16. Of the D-type biplanes - Halbershtats, Fokkers and Rolands (there were most of them), from the end of the summer of 1917 they were gradually superseded by the Albatros D.III of the OAW production. The German Aces on the Eastern Front at the time of the "peak" of their victories flew on the following planes: Hans Pipparth - a Roland D. II, K. Gallwitz - a Roland D. III, G. Knappe - the Albatross D. II. Only Pippart (who fought from February 1916 to April 1917) and Leopold Anslinger became the Ases on the Eastern Front. Wilhelm Frickert on the Eastern Front scored 7 victories, but only 2 of them fell on airplanes (“Voisin” type), and the remaining 5 accounted for balloons. Karl Gallwitz "earned" in the East Iron Crosses of the 1st and 2nd classes, but both for 2 Russian balloons. https://warspot.ru/7408-tsveta-voennogo-neba-asy-dvuh-kayzerov-na-vostochnom-fronte

AnatraDS Russian skin
Crawford replied to Eugene2's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2 File Announcements
I believe you. Although in fairness it must be said that "Anasal" did not take any part in combat actions of the WWI. In fact, the Anatra plant began to produce this aircraft, when the Russian army was already falling apart. Until November 1917, only a few machines were distributed among the front-line squadrons. But not all of them were at least taken out of Odessa ... The planes that later went to the Austrians were used only in the rear training units. -

Good work, Eugene2. But the planes of the Anatra plant were not painted. All the Anades and Anasals of the WWI were in the colors of construction materials. Shades of wood textures - from light to dark brown. Percale (the linen fabric) - yellovish. And the planes was coated not with aircraft dope, but with a special composition "navavia", which very quickly became rough. -
But why? A more productive engine, the ability to use a bump and specular-mapping, a simpler modding and some other sweets... However, I also prefer FE1 - maybe because I don't have FE2. If my memory serves me, not long ago you also did not have a 2ndGens. So I congratulate you on a new acquisition.

Mirage F1EDA
Crawford replied to ludo.m54's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Thanks for the answer. But, unfortunately, I have no other SF, except for the 1st generation. That's why I asked. High resolution usually does not cause problems, but if the LODs are created in Unicode, then SFP1 simply doesn't see them.- 6 replies

i got swimming tanks here
Crawford replied to one4five's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Oh my God! People, what are you talking about??? For the Ground objects there are two categories of displacements: Route Type = truck Rouye Type = shipping Accordingly, in random missions, where no route is prescribed, all vehicles move where they want: ships by land, cars on mountains and forests. Or on the water)) -

Are you joking? No, everything is much simpler. In the series of TW games there is no water, but the land with the texture of water! There you can even land a wheeled aircraft! -
Yes, you are right, of course. But on the 3D-model this will not be reflected in any way. )

Thank you, Von S. I can only add that this same model can also depict the Nieuport 25 and late Nieuport 24 without a tailskid fairing. There is practically no differences between these planes, except for the engine and the split undercarriage for the N25 and N27 (the split axle was copied from the "Sopvitch"). Other minor differences are the size of the left hatch and the position of the air intakes (it's depended on the type of carburetor), but these little things can be ignored. In the game we just don't notice the split axle or one additional wire. ))

Hi, Von S. Why do you think that the engine doesn't rotate to yet on the Nie.23 series? It seems to me that the engine blurs dut doesn't rotate on the Nieuport23_Lewis only. Maybe we have different LODs? By the way, the Nie.23 series is just that case (along with both Pfalz D.III and D.IIIa planes) when the distant LODs are working normally. Nieuport23.OUT Nieuport23.LOD P.S. And what's wrong with the Nieu.27? It seems to me that this is a completely finished model, no worse than Geezer's N17 or N23...

Addition to my top message. Both of these utilities are somewhere in the downloads section, but they are long to be looked for. So just unpack the archive and use it. No additional installation are required. dds2tga_converter__Hex-editor.rar
