Such mods like in these photos, you mean? :)
-
Certainly! To the author of idea - too thanks.
-
Well done! Thank you, Steve. It is strange, that nobody has made it earlier.
-
No, I didn't mean the Roland C.II. I talking exactly about the Halberstadt CL.II / CL.IV. For some reason the pictures didn't attach yesterday (and today too). But, nevertheless, you understood me correctly.
-
You are right. )) I'll try to explain. I'm sorry that I misled you. Earlier I have compared an aileron controls of the Roland D.II with the Nieuports. The similarity with the Nieuport is really there, but quite remote. Also I incorrectly named the part of this mechanism as "quadrant" (by analogy with the Nieuport). Actually it's not a "quadrant", but aileron control crank. In fact, it worked almost exactly the same as on the Halberstadt CL.II/IV - they are still preserved in museums (one such is in exposition of the National museum of the USAF). Take a look at the photo and you will understand everything.
-
Thank you, Steve. You can rely on that.

Well, Steve, you did a great job. This is better, but still wrong (please, don't be angry at me). 1. Judging by the photos, the aileron controls looked different when they were working. Look closely at the pictures I posted. In addition, the "quadrants" was not visible from the bottom of the wing, but only from the top. As you rightly wrote, "it's an improvement, but still hard to notice if you're not looking for it" ;) 2. The crosses on the tail of the Roland-built D.II, in fact, were much larger. Also on the fuselage. 3. Note that the tailplane bracing wires of your model is much shorter than should be. It would only waste your time. So sorry, Steve. Maybe you will consider these comments when working on a model of the Roland D.IIa. Best wishes.

Thank you, Steve! I wish you every success.

Something about the logo on the Roland's propeller. This is the same Russian trophy.
-
Badges of the LFG Plant where indeed "white". Anyway, on the Rolands C.II/D.II photos I haven't seen a "black" badges.
-
As seen in the photos, moved not only the push-pull rods, but the rod-link quadrants too.
-
Yeah, for this airplane need more keys like in first person shooter - "lean left/right". ))) Otherwise it is almost impossible to aim. But "head tilting isn't possible in FE"...
-
The badge of the LFG company was on each side of the plane. The Pfalz company drew his logo on the rudder.

Axial Berlin

The propeller had two prominent emblems of the manufacturer.

Here is a good example.

I congraulate you, Steve! It's a splendid model. I've always wanted to see this airplane in FE. Thank you! Now it would be nice to make the D.IIa modification - these were released more than D.II. But I can not refrain from criticism - as ever. )) As you know, these fighters was produced by LFG and by Pfalz. Note that each company painted crosses in different ways and in different places. For applying markings to identify the manufacturer. In addition, the planes built by LFG the serial numbers were not applied, unlike machines made by Pfalz. So you made the plane, which has an inverted (sic!) badge of the LFG company, but with the markings of the Pfalz Plant. Next. You made a great cockpit for the your Roland D.II. I think the Roland's cockpit, which we see in the game, very close to the historical prototype. Except that there was a fuel gauge (outside the cockpit), although without him it's okay. More importantly that those two "sticks" on each side of the cockpit should move synchronously with the control knob, similary to the Nieuports. (I mean the aileron push-pull rods and the aileron vertical/horisontal rod-link quadrants). Look at the pictures.

Were can I find a Pfalz D.III and D.IIIa for FE2?
Crawford replied to Verdun's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Probably this can be done simply by changing the characteristics of the aircraft in INI.files. For example, the power of the engine (180HP instead of160HP), max. speed and so on... Now I can't say for sure, but it seems to me that the appropriate files for the Pfalz D.IIIa can be found in the Armchiar Aces. Why not just download D.IIIa mod from the Capun's website? -
Allow me to criticize. Yes, the plane is very good and to fly on it simply pleasantly. However, despite all the undoubted advantages, the model leaves the impression of slightly incompleteness. As if it was done in a hurry… For some reason on the plane are not displayed bullet holes (the aircraft always looks unharmed). Maybe it’s only I have such trouble? But that’s not all. When viewed from the cockpit, visible unfinished bracing wire (see added screenshot). In addition, the only available instrument is not working; a pointer will never budge. The controls are also motionless… Perhaps these shortcomings will be corrected in future versions of the model?

Looks great! Thank you so much. Very much indeed.

Oops... I'm sorry. My fault. I really didn't hear about it... Thank you for the instructions, you helped me a lot.
-
At last I was able to download this fine model (in view of my slow internet). As you foresaw, there is a problem at installation of the HalbD.V into FE. Alas! The game does not see the new plane... So the flight did not take place.(
-
Excellent! Now everything is all right. It must be admitted that the efficiency of your work is beyond praise. Thank you very much, Stephen.

Somewhere here I read that you wanted to make a new, more realistic Triplane. It's an interesting idea. But there are a lot of interesting aircraft of the WWI that are not represented in FE. You have to choose from. I would suggest to make the plane A.W.F.K.8 (known as the "Big Ack"). Also you can pay attention to Caudron G.3 or Junkers J.4. For a map of Galicia necessary reconnaissance plane Anade (your Anasal is good, but these aircraft came too late and did not have time to work on the front). For operations over the sea could use floatplanes Hansa Brandenburg W.12 or W.29 and a flying boats F.B.A. C or H. All in all, you may take any plane of your choice.
