US Navy Fighters by EA was my first real combat flight sim I bought myself. Everything about it was beautiful to me. I was so excited to be flying Tomcats and A-7s and Intruders off of carriers out over the ocean. And those great cut scenes! Yep, USNF is one of my babies and certainly nostaligic for me. I believe Fighters Anthology has a include patch to allow you to run it on windows XP. That has everthing. (except the campaign cutscenes and such from USNF)

I'd like a devoted A-7 sim. Just one of those planes I really like.

I would enjoy a sim like that. I played that TopGun flight "sim" by Spectrum Holobyte. I enjoyed having the rio conversation dynamic. I also liked the game's briefings done by the "cargo plane full of rubber dog shiz out of Hong Kong" guy. I might be goofy for saying so but I don't care. I'd like a TopGun RPG flight sim. Have a true F-14 sim modeled with TopGun training and campaign plus the ability to sit in a virtual briefing room with Viper and the guys and to sit around the cafe while Goose plays Great Balls of Fire on the piano. I could do without the beach volleyball however.

I've got both and just got Arrowhead. (MW2 is 360 version though)

False. A stinky finger is no match for Irish Spring. The person below me has visited a Crop Circle.

I think I might just loose my bowel functions if I happened upon a coconut crab unexpectedly. Creepy looking suckers. I bet they are tasty though. Instead of mulitple plates of snow crab legs all you would need is one plate of three or four coconut crab legs. I think I first learned about those over at Cryptomundo.com

rotarycrazy has a good idea. Do a Vietnam era Top Gun prequel. I also like the idea of an older Maverick training new pilots at Nellis. Maybe Iceman's cocky son could snap his teeth at Mav. It might be cool to also have Goose's son as a fighter pilot training under his Dad's old friend. Viper and Jester could be the older guys hanging out in the bar that the young hot shots come in and mess with not knowing who they are. Charlie could still be taking Mav's breath away while he reminisces about inverted dives and target rich environments. Kenny Loggins could score it again and fill the soundtrack with other Righteous Brother classics. I guess I'm a TopGun fan. If done right (not making it a charactiture of itself) it could be a fun, decent nastalgic sequel.

Chuck Norris doesn't find the Most Interesting Man in the World interesting.

I just realized I could drag desktop icons to my taskbar by looking at your all's Destops lol. I'm still new to Windows 7. Thanks. Cool feature.

I'm having a Dr. Pepper. Is that okay too? That's my ambrosia of choice

Yesterday at the Sams club where I work pushing carts right now, I saw this green flyer laying in the parking lot. It looked like normal debris that people drop or leave but as I walked by it I saw a face on it that I recognized. I went about my chores and thought to myself that looked like Burl Ives. Wanting to know what it was, (perhaps it was an advertisment for some sort of songwriters workshop) I went back to take a look at it again. I picked it up and sure enough it was a picture of Burl Ives. I continued to examine it, wondering what it was. I thought maybe it was some sheet music someone dropped from their car. Then I discovered that it was a concert program from 1984 of a show he apparently did. But then there was some writing on the front. Once I made sense of what it was I was really suprised. Its Burl Ives's autograph!!!!!! I'm pretty sure its genuine. He would have still been alive then.(I believe he died in the mid 90s) Its signed "To Pat, Burl Ives". According to the info I was able to garner from the program, this concert took place on Saturday, December 15 at 8:00PM. I assume the concert was in 1984 because on the back there is an advertisement for two other upcoming shows at the theatre. One on Saturday, 26 January 1985 at 8:00 PM and for Friday, 22 February 1985 at 8:00 PM. According to the program's info, the show apparently was held at or for the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs at a "Arnold Hall Theater" as part of a something called the Theater Variety Series. What's more, Burl Ives is one of my many favorite singers. How cool is that! That just tickled me to death finding that. And that's no coincidence my friends. My Heavenly Father put that in my path to bless me. I'd be happy to return it to whomever owned it but for now its in safe keeping and it brightened my day. Maybe I can scan a picture of it and show you all.

He's a folk singer and Balladeer. He's been around a long time and has done alot. He was also in radio, tv and movies. I still have yet to see his well known roles in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" and "Big Country". As a child I always loved seeing his part in "Summer Magic". You might also be familiar with his rendition of "Holly Jolly Christmas".

Thanks FastCargo!

Typhoid, seeing your location there, do you know of a "Arnold Hall Theater"?

Wow DaveJS good one! That was a lucky turn of events. I also like the way the training missions are done. It reminds me of the good ol' days of sims.

I just got this as well. Got it installed today and have gotten to training mission 5. It seems to run pretty well for me on mid to upper settings. I have a feeling I'll be stuck on mission 5 for awhile as hitting a tank with a bomb is proving tough as beans. Getting a little better with landings but not much. I had a moment of "this is nuts!" on the training mission where you have to dive at just under max speed as the wind rushed by and the ground grew bigger and bigger.

Installing mods in Version 2 of series
Coot posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I'm certain this has been addressed before somewhere so please forgive the question. I'm not new to the thirdwire series or installing mods but I am so when it comes to the newer version 2 of the series. I searched the knowledge base but got only as far as seeing something about a mod folder but not understanding how to use it. I bought Wings Over Israel 2 today. Could someone point me to or walk me through the process please? Can we use the Widesky mod for version 2 Strike Fighters as the example? That's the first thing I tried installing. I placed everything in the flight folder but the mod did not take affect. I'd also like to try the HDR mod but it says to put the files in the mod/flight folder. I don't have a mod folder. I redirected the options.ini mod listing to be in the same place as my WOV2 install but I see no mod folder. Do I create it myself? I'm familiar with the older versions and modding and using the cat extractor but I'm lost here with the new versions. Thanks for any pointers. -

Thanks so much everyone for the help and info. I have a problem though as I don't have a mod folder. When I go to the directory C:\Users\Coot\Saved Games\ThirdWire\Strike Fighters 2 I don't have a mod folder present. I have Controls, Missions, Objects, Pilot Data, Screen Shots, and a Options ini. Do I need to reinstall or need some patch? Thanks again. -
I like this thread. Unfortunately I don't know the answers to the question so I can't post another question.
