  1. You can check here; http://www.geocities.com/vmfa2322002/ send an email if you're interested of ask for Dagger here on the forum. He's pretty active here.
  2. If you have a shortcut on your desktop to SF right click on it and go to properties. Under the shortcut tab the file path will appear in the box at the top. Copy the path (Cntrl+c) copy it into the dialogue box for Hyperlobby (Cntrl+v) and remove the quotation marks. Should work then.
  3. MJ...Site Improvements

Yeah what Eagle said. I hate it when what you looking for is hidden beneath piles of links. Obscurity is not user friendly.
  4. Check your joystick calibration. Whenever I've had the autopilot act wierd on me it was because my joystick was out of wack, which seems to happen alot with this game. For some reason my stick doesn't always hold a good calibration.
  5. QUESTION

I've noticed the ctds are selective. They occur after I have a successful mission (happens more often in the campaign), have raked up a couple of points (this for me is alot), and I'm RTB. Feeling pretty good with myself, that I've at least survived and have placed some rounds in or near where I wanted them, the game then takes the side of the opposition and sends a nuclear tipped aa missle my way. (I remember they taught us about them when I went to GM school.) Who says their isn't any SAMs in this game? Its just not the little ones, they send the big ones up. As the nuke goes off all the usual phenomenon associated with an airburst occurs. Mainly my a/c gets toasted and my electronic pulses (pc) are interuppted (ctd). They modeled being nuked rather well, I think. One minute you're there and in a flash you're not.
  6. Does anyone know which it is that this game works with? I've looked around in the file system, but its better I leave this land of Greece to those who know the language. In other words, don't flame me if you think its in front of my nose. Because it aint to me. :?
  7. I tried to address the stuttering issue in IL2 by trying to run it in Direct X and my video card (or something) wouldn't play nice with IL2 in Direct X mode. Everything was fractured beyond recognition in Direct X mode. Tweeking notwithstanding, Open GL was my only option in IL2, so I guess, then, I didn't really have an option. Sort of on the same lines as, "We're looking for a volunteer. YOU, you'll do." :D
  8. Anyone interested in starting a sqdn?
  9. As an adennum, ignore the password box, there isn't any. The door is wide open. UHOH shouldn't have said that.
  10. I think the boss forget the url so I guess its up to the enlisted to get it done. :D Here it is http://mb.raidersoft.com/mb/mblogin.pl?mbid=1466
  11. "A full Mig15/17 LOA course is provided in one of our Mig 15 UTIs (2 seats). " Does this mean that there is actually a civilian flight school for military jet fighters? I know that back in the 90's, when I looked at the prices, Russia was selling off their older Migs at reduced prices. $15,000 was the average for a Mig 15 single seater. I could be wrong about the mark, but I remember they were being sold in crates. My thought back then was, "Oh to be single and without a house." But then again, it would never fit in my wall locker. This is why the SALT treaty never worked. The mothballed everything, no matter how old. When they had to get rid of "so many tanks" per the treaty, they'd just scrap their oldest to meet the numbers. They would have all this old stuff to fill the books while we had sunk all ours off our coasts. They would be getting rid of T-39 tanks while we would be keeping our M-60 tank inventory low. That's probably why there are is much vintage Soviet hardware on the market.
  12. Exactly right verc, that's what I was. Worked for the Dept. of Corr. in RI as a State Marshal. Of course I was ultra-hygenic for another reason. But the pissing contests abounded between those on the outside of the bars.
  13. Well Ranger I guess I was fed some interservice propoganda. It appears the squids hate us equally. :D In my last job I had to wash my hands before I went to the bathroom.
  14. Littlecreek 78, trained with the Rangers in amphib warfare. They got a dry landing while we hit the sandbar (squid coxswain delibertly throttled back), first guy out went in over his head. Snow on the ground so we were all singing sorprano. A real COLDWAR warrior. Swam with the ice flows a couple more times for coldweather qualification in the CG. Yep it was cold and I was qualified to be able to tell the difference.
  15. Now what a miniute. If I don't need to know what the numerical values refer to and what they do, how can I use this program? Say I open a file in the cat and change a number without prior knowledge of what that number represents in the game? How can I get a desired result without a known starting point and a destination? It would be like conducting a search and rescue operation in the Atlantic without a datum. If I go into this file and just change numbers without knowing what they do I wouldn't be too bright. Unless you're saying I shouldn't or don't need to understand the numbers in the .cat file. And therefore I shouldn't be in there to begin with. I think part of the problem here is that you've given me more credit than I deserve in the area of computer science. Let me make this as clear as I can, I'm realllll stoopid when it comes to all things virtual. I have, in the past , been satisfied with letting others do all the mucking about with files. But of late my interest has been peaked as to how to do some of these tasks. Perhaps you might post a web site that you know of to get me started in educating myself. I don't mean to be a pain, really I don't. Just want in on some of the fun. :D
  16. One question. What is the significance of and what can be done with the numerical values found in the .cat files? I take it .cat is referring to the catalog files. Thanks.
  17. I hope you don't mind that I tacked up a recruiting poster over at SinHQ boss.
  18. New Sqdn for EST in US?

Oh no, not an airdale. They call themselves Marines but they all look like hippies, or squids. JK Actually I only know about them from what the gunny would tell us, as I never saw one without his flight helmet. Invariably the gunny would tell us that they all went to bootcamp in San Diego. :) Funny thing is, I was thinking (reminiscencing) the other day and was wondering if the flight crews (enlisted) on the choppers received hazardous duty pay. Us grunts took the same risks when we had the honor of being passangers but didn't get the pay for it. Sometimes we would fly around in circles for awhile, so it wasn't always a short hop. It wasn't until later, as a Coast Guardsman, that I learned the moto of chopper pilots. "When in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout." Semper Fi
  19. Its my understanding that bomb damage as well as missle damage on buildings and runways aren't modeled, read bug. I've dropped bombs on runways and been so low I've damaged my aircraft without any damage to the runway.
  20. Submitted for your consideration, the future of this genre. Some mitigatting factors which directly influence the performance of any NEW sim on any one computer. (As I see it). 1. The variations of hardware. Since more and more people are building their own pc's these days think of the many combinations of hardware in all the computers? (And some say the breakup of MS is a good thing.) With all the different drivers and cards on the market and the the myriad combination of these items, how can the sim be tested for all? Think how many different machines one company would need to be sure their product was/is compatible with all these combinations. 2. Which leads us to number 2. Money. Unfortunately that's how things work in this world and the companies have bills to pay just as anyone else. They can't spend an eternity on development, its not a hobby for them. I don't think that the sim failed to pass the test on their computer. I think we are beginning to see the trend in sims with CFS3 and SF in that I think part of the reason that companies are pushing unfinished products out the door is because the game passed the test on their machines. They know that they will never be able to put together a sim which will run flawlessly on all machines, so they don't even try. Instead they make it run on what PC they have and then marketed it. The Specs on the box is an average based on their testings on their computers. Then they wait for feedback and prepare to address the issues as they come in. This is a money issue, as said before. How can a company afford to buy enough computers to match all the performances and all the different combinations of hardware to be sure no one has any problems? The more performance in the computers and the more choices we have for different software and hardware in the computers, the less the sims are going to hit the mark out of the box. (I had to upgrade from WinMe to XP to add memory, as I was told that after so much memory WinMe ceases to use it. Go figure.) Automobile manufacterers use all their own parts, not so with computers. So it appears we will be seeing more and more works in progress. Field testing if you will. Put the basics out there and deal with compatability issues later. This can be a scary thing, if the developer decides to give up. Of course this is only an observation and I don't have a degree in business management or economics. But its funny how some people have more "issues" than others with any given game. Performance of PC's being equal.
  21. Well never having flown a jet fighter I don't know how realistic the fm is. And the terrain that came with the game is desert, so yes, its flat. But, the terrain in Hyper Lobby has mountainous areas and I think people are already working on new scenery. No training mission. I find, as one who is new to jet sims, that the game has an atmosphere that whoever buys it is already familiar with flying a jet sim. So the only thing the manual really deals with is interface and not so much how to use a jet fighter. There is a limited amount of text in the easier settings. The HUD is enough for me as I'm familiar with flight sims of the propeller variety. In fact I already quit using the HUD. If you've had EAW then you will reconize some of the interface in this sim as well as the terrain. In my opinion, and this is strictly a matter of taste, I like it. Even with the obvious need for a patch to round it out (no ground explosions, erradict wingmen, occasional crash to desk, so forth). This sim, IMHO, has a lot of potential with the open file system and all. I know what people did for CFS2, same thing applies here. I hear some people have had a real time trying to get it running on their machines. I've had to turn down some of the graphics. I think its a good trade off. Again, disclaimer, IMHO.
  22. Is there any ejection? I haven't seen it in the manual or on the key card. Am I right or am I missing something here. The key for bailing out in any flight sim is the one which gets the most use on my keyboard. :)
  23. Thanks PCPilot and Dagger, I have landed only once so its good to know about it. Glad to help Dagger. Now if I could only get it to work for me. Hyper Lobby cann't find my exe.
