F4D-1 Skyray
Julhelm replied to Julhelm's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
Is there any other info you could give me? The tanks being invisible sounds strange because they are part of the aircraft's lod and I haven't been able to replicate that error here. -

CVN-75 Beta .5 Teaser Video - HQ 720p Availible
Julhelm replied to SkateZilla's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
A question: Why have the parked planes make the bow cats useless? I think it'd look much better with a couple fewer planes around the lifts and perhaps some deck crew. -

I'm afraid you'll just have to bite the sour apple and patch your sim. It's not that difficult if you back up all the modded stuff and install that on top of a patched install afterwards. Usually it'll only break weapon and effect mods which are easy to reapply. -

You're probably not running the Sept08 patch that brings WOV/E to WOI standard. -

Us Navy F111B?
Julhelm replied to Stratos's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
It'd be interesting to have the various contenders for VFX flyable ingame. For instance Grummans single-seat fixed-wing Tomcat or GD's downscaled swingwing. Or Voughts swingwing and NAA's ogival wing twinseater. -
Us Navy F111B?
Julhelm replied to Stratos's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
The F-111B is basically an F-111A with the longer wings of the FB-111A and the early intakes. Shouldn't be hard to modify from the original max file. -

lost nuke effect?
Julhelm replied to Streakfalcon's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
You're probably using the wrong release parameters. 25000 feet is really nothing - A good tactic is releasing at 40000+ feet, going into a diving turn to accelerate and floor it out of there. Of course, with the A-5 and F-101 you should be doing LABS "over the shoulder" bombing. -

So....About the nukes
Julhelm replied to Silverbolt's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
No need. Here are my entries for Lindr2's nukes - I've changed warhead types to FAE and adjusted all yields upwards by 2' and they use Lexx's effects. AdjustedNukes.txt -

Now just work on the definition and sharpness of the texture and finally adding some highlights/shadows to it. -
Crazy Ed's updated WIPS LIST
Julhelm replied to Veltro2k's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Yeah that's looking quite good. What you could do to bring a little more depth to the skin is make a copy of your panellines on a new layer, invert those so that they become bright, offset them a pixel diagonally, and then play around with opacity and blending (Overlay usually works for me) until you think it looks good. -
Crazy Ed's updated WIPS LIST
Julhelm replied to Veltro2k's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
My honest advice would be to paint it yourself. Look at the other skins and analyse for yourself how they are done, and practice doing the same things. All you really need is to use the line and darken/lighten tools, and remember that as long as you're doing this for yourself, it doesn't have to be perfect or as good as everybody elses or whatever yardstick you're using. The important thing is that it is YOU who paint it, because only by painting stuff can you get better at painting. So start painting post your work here, and you can bet people will help you out with advice and crits. -

The New Sabres
Julhelm replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I can't understand why people need to make >2048^2 bitmaps when really every conceivable detail can easily be painted on a 1024^2 one. Hell, the only times I use something ridiculous like 2048^2 is when I want to fit the entire model onto a single bitmap. Ingame performance must always be No.1 priority.
