Antiship Missions after october 08 patch
sparkomatic replied to DarthRevan's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Have had that problem with WOE for a while now...if you fly "red air" it works fine but a "blue air" anti-ship mission ends you off the map sometimes...no idea why and since like, 4 of us play anti-shipping missions it is very unlikely to get fixed...shame. And why would you post a weapons pack question in this thread? There are like 72 threads already detailing that... -
You are wrong... many years ago I was in a Maintenance Group...for brevity, will cut to the chase: dude kept sending this one guy TDY all of the time...when asked he said "he's the best, we need his expertise in the field"...until one day whilst this guy was TDY and "someone" saw the dude bringing candy and flowers to the guy's wife (who lived on base, stoopid)...investigation revealed the stunning. In IBM it doesnt matter...but in the military we deal in lives and danger...trust must be absolute...there is no place for it, period. And how do you determine "it's not prohibiting their job performance"?...best way is to avoid it...dont fish from the company pier...there are literally billions of people NOT in the military, go bang them instead.

So how does one add the ships now?
sparkomatic posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Checked over at the knowledge base, but it was last updated in 2006 and that was for carriers...seems like one doesnt have to edit as many things as before...just want to add Argentine Type 42 to the Germany WOE map patch Sep 2008. Thanks -

pilot names by nationality
sparkomatic posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
there used to be a way to have the names in your squadron roster adjusted for nationality...how does one change it? I mean I want to have the Nigerian sounding names again when I select Nigeria... -
pilot names by nationality
sparkomatic replied to sparkomatic's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
thanks! though had to set the data.ini of the intended fighter to Nigeria to get it to work... -
Maybe I need a "knowledge base" lesson on how to use the search feature here...but even if that is the case, well it should not be that way. I updated to the Sept 2008 patch for WOE...I want the "nations mod"...the one that has the "Nigerian Fleet Air Arm" in it...where the heck is that? Go ahead and type "nations" in the search...it goes to the forum and you get 17 pages to squint through... Go to the knowledge base and try to figure out which category that is... Go to the downloads section and try to figure out where they put it... 22 minutes later and the only result is this post... Have mentioned it before, but really, this is silly... Sorry to complain, but do not even get me started on trying to find a specific airplane... Also, how does one check for most recent download files? If I try to sort by latest, it just tells me no...
-
True, if you know where something is then it is a matter of clicking to it...I used the F-19 as an example because there are few files associated with it. I removed the "-" and typed F19...still yielded 98 pages... thanks for the tip on Google: "F-19 site:combatace.com" that worked very well...

F-29A update
sparkomatic replied to Dels's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
USNF? Dude I had already graduated college and was on my first tour...anyone remember DID or Tornado? Here is a good link: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/sim/ef2000/index.html check out this review: http://www.angusm.demon.co.uk/AGDB/DBM1/TornAGA2.html it is in something called "text" rather than 42 Mb of ads and pictures, one actually had to read things on the Internet right after Al Gore stole it from the British And another favorite: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TFX_(computer_game) Sweet! *** also: Xynoxx 22nd March 2004 13:27 Re: playing old sims on XP Anyone tried DI's Tornado? Not everyone liked that sim - too detailed - were the complaints, and one reviewer of the time said it was like watching paint dry! What did he know! A shoot-em-up it wasn't. But it was great, and very faithful to the aircraft. Also loved lasing targets, and you could see the "crater of success". Planning your route to target was excellent, and you could select an asynchronous attack on an airfield and have the aircraft come from different directions at different times, to confuse the defenses; and that really worked! There was a Desert Storm theatre too, in addition to the "European" theatre. Although the ADV in there rolled excellently, it was severely limited in pitch; but it was still possible to take out Flankers at long range. However, it was a DOS game, so have no idea if this would work in XP's dos mode. Be great if some enterprising person updated this game, keeping it's marvellous planning, strategic, and tactical goodies, but giving it up-to-date compatibility and graphics, as well as giving it a HOTAS interface. Dreams... -
"I think its pretty easy to find an aircraft, I do not think I could break it down any easier." As I said, maybe I am doing something wrong...but I went to the search button in the download section...typed F-19 and received this: 98 pages and none seem to have the F-19 in them...

Check this out: http://www.zazzle.com/roundel_of_the_niger...439701503951533 Go ahead and place your orders so we can buy an airplane...

comms mod did not work with Sept 2008 patch WOE
sparkomatic posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Went kind of weird, random calls...too bad, was one of the very best mods of the game...now I get the "SAM LAUNCH!" gabbing up the radios and when escorting a strike package, just turn the radio off... any one get it to work properly? cheers -

"I will use this kite as F-100C-26-NA - most close to early "D" and with ServiceStartYear=1970 ServiceEndYear=1974 for present mod loadout " ...just look at that...a fighter whose career spanned just 4 years...what happened to those days? And to think of all the other front line fighter-types on service during the same period...also back when we had dedicated interceptors as well...and who can forget "Air Defense Command"?...ah well... -

sparkomatic replied to Julhelm's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
Hmmm...didnt know that was a problem...what, you guys get shot up? Need better skills and then you will not get chastised by the crew chief for getting his baby dirty/scratched. Have thrown this thing against MiG-21 and, in capable hands, she does perfectly! Once again, fantastic work Julhelm! I gave it 6-stars! -
ugly younger sister of the worlds greatest modern fighter...period...and if another matches her combat record of 104 to none (meaning 104 confirmed kills with no losses (again, not the mud hen but the fighter it was based on)) then we can have an intelligent conversation, any thing else is pure conjecture I always enjoy reading the "eurofighter jumped an eagle" and is thus clearly superior or the "Sukhoi has prettier paint" and is thus superior...proof is in the proof and no one else has those credentials go ahead and flame this post, you will look ridiculous

Dave, check out my post count...!

Hmm...I just want to clarify that the mind would have already been set so whatever the recruiter said would have been moot... Also reference the "same 6000 people comment"...did you read my posts at all? What do you think it is like sitting in the damn desert? At least the boat freakin moves and the breeze is better. Try sitting in a sandbox for months on end while some damn E-8 with a fat gut and a sorry home life tries to tell you that you are supposed to wear a specific sock with your PT gear when, in all reality, there is no such rule and by the way, your "offensive socks" where in fact ankle high, white, new, and sold at military clothing sales...those POG's are ruining the USAF about as fast as Moseley did... And if you want to be an aviator/pilot...RIGHT NOW get in the habit of reading...more than you could ever imagine...and people like FastCargo like to ask you what the cube root of the nose tire pressure is on a hot day after grilling you for 40 minutes on bold face (dont know what a bold face is? you are already late). If you prospective air warriors think flying is anything at all like what your PC presents then you are really wrong and in for a sharp drop...good luck.

classic...even if it is half as good as the first two...hopefully they dont screw it up...have not purchased a new PC (or any) game in literally months (in fact WOI was the last game I bought) but this one draws my interest. I wanted to try the pirates of the burning sea game but understand that it is MMO-only and that for me is a no go since I tire quickly of kiddies (not based on age; rather, attitude) with no jobs and manage to somehow become level 124 dungeon masters in 2 days post release cheers

Also, the quote from Bob Norris is old (2004)...and the information he based his statement on is old also...we are now post-Moseley...think of it like New Orleans post-Katrina...things are so bad, you dont know what all is wrong...personally, if they had offered the job of Chief to replace Moseley I would have flat refused... Many of us refer to this as the post-Modern AF...the USAF is the smallest it has ever been...the USAF has been flying combat missions SINCE 1991...the fleet was supposed to be replaced within 15 years of delivery...there are fighters older than maintainers...oh and how many maintainers do we have (Moseley cut them mercilessly)? Think about it...you have a sports car...you drive it to work everyday (actually you share it with other people who also drive it like a rental)...and sometimes you take it to the desert for months on end...now stop changing the oil... Certainly maintainers have my highest regard, period. If I gave you a teaspoon and pointed you at the Grand Canyon and told you to make one just like that in Pennsylvania...you would rightly be concerned regarding your prospects for success... And just try to out process or get any admin work done...those people were cut also...severely...we NO KIDDING have jobs that are manned at 3%...I said THREE PERCENT...and those arent throw-away jobs either...and, if you are wanting to move along in life, the very billets needed for promotion are manned in the single digits... And that part about being home? No...I was deployed 664 days out of the last 5 years...that does NOT include all TDYs either...do the math. Work with some dudes from other platforms here...they EXPECT to fulfill a flying job in their primary aircraft ONCE...then off to the schoolhouse then off to UAVs then off to staff (maybe)... Here is another hint...Moseley decimated the airlift/tanker and 11R (basically heavy airplanes like 40 year old 707s) slots...so now who do you think they will hire? I mean C-5 pilot out of Dover or Travis would be a great job...but I think I read you wanted to be a fighter pilot? It is NOT all doom and gloom...but the pundits and the recruiter already told you the "good stuff"...oh and if he mentions the "30-days paid vacation"...kick him...repeatedly...I dont know anyone who doesnt "burn leave" on weekends and holidays. Sure, there are people that manage it, but if you are trying your best, time evaporates. Oh and medical care? Dont make me laugh...a young lady that works for me reported for work with her right eye looking like a no-kidding tomato...the military doctor told her it would heal itself in a few days and go back to work. They are not perfect, but if someone gave me a ride in a time machine, there are a couple of stops I would make and one of those would have been to the Navy recruiter's office... Go Navy! cheers...

not just a steep learning curve...its the silly things that derail a project until someone more experienced can take a look at it that sap your vigor. luckily the people that know how are tremendously patient... there are a few projects on the HDD here that are awaiting bad weather and lots of Scotch... -
pffht...have lived through 2 draw-downs already...this time we lost over 40,000 airmen and officers...those special ops are in the top 1% category and flying billets are getting cut (and so are flying hours) not to mention if you fly fighters, EXPECT a tour in UAVs. And he is correct...everyone now has at least two jobs so forget Top Gun or Iron Eagle like existences...and if you do well, ironically enough you fly less... Dude, I have done two programs with the Navy and one with the Army (where I basically belonged to them/was paid by the USAF) not to mention spending 5 years on Okinawa (immersed with the Marines)...in all honesty, go Navy! They are today what the USAF was 10 - 20 years ago...not perfect but a safer bet. Not saying the USAF isnt great, because it is and working in the military is better than civilian life (did a few years in corporate America)...but since you seem to have the option to compete for scholarships, go Navy! And if anyone wants to turn this into a contest, I will tell you to spare the effort, go argue about something else. Cheers and go Navy!
