Judge Smails: "Danny, I've sent boys younger than you to electric chair. Didn't want to do it, but felt I owed it to them" LOL! - There hasn't been a movie like that since

Agreed, but the extent of the subsidies and the EU's ability to look the other way really doesn't provide a fair, competitive advantage. I'm not saying Boeing is an angel either, however, the Airbus Consortium at times seems like a supra-national airline with implicit government-type backing.

Just wonder if there will be an Airbus around when the plane does officially launch. Of course, it doesn't hurt to have government launch subsidies. Go Boeing! Super61

Improvements

Not a computer expert here, but can anything be done to improve/enhance the search function? Regards, Super61 -
Hi fellas, I checked the knowledge base and had an unsuccessful search on this one. Can anyone tell me where the Pilot LOD's, Pilot BMP, and Pilot Config. settings go once an aircraft has been downloaded? I checked WOV file structure and cannot find any related files (except the Pilot file), but nothing there matched either. Thank you in advance. Super61

Burning a copy to disc
super61 posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hi Fellas, After a recent and complete hard drive loss, I've got a question. Since the game plus mods I have now exceed 4GB, is there a way to back this up to a DVD by making it a data disc? My DVD burner is capable of dual layer burning (which would allow burning the entire contents), but I'm afraid that is only limited to media content. I'd appreciate your thoughts or suggestions on this. If this is possible, can anyone recommend the software/hardware for this? Or if there is some type of freeware available to do this? Regards, Super61 -
Burning a copy to disc

Hi Erik, Thanks for responding so quickly. I didn't consider that and its a great idea. Do you know if Backup allows me to select certain files such as the Objects and Terrain files? Thank you, -
How much do you really play?

If I can take a different approach here, I'd like to address the learning aspect involved with playing the game. I do find myself tinkering more with the mods than playing the game istelf. And it has been highly educational, since I had no prior knowledge of "extracting" a file, or using notepad, or reading/manipulating an ini file to find out why the A-4EL was invisible on the tarmac and had the gun pod on top (LOL). Again, I'd like to say thank to all the modders and forum members for their efforts in making this game what it is. To provide a wonderful product and advice, all for the cost of a simple "thank you" or "job well done" still boggles my mind, but is appreciated nonetheless. You've got a "customer" for life! Best Regards, Super 61 -
Hi Fellas, I have to admit this question is to get me to my 5th post, but I think my question is legit, since as a relative newb, I am still finding my way around the game. However, I have been hesitant at posting questions 'cuz, quite a few reply's seem to state "read the knowledge section." However, depending on my question or other's, the knowledge base solution may not necessarily give all the info need to address the question. What I am asking is, have the folks who run the forums considered making the search options a little more user friendly? For instance, I searched for the GAU-8 effect for the A-10, and found it quite cumbersome to wade through quite a few responses. Could you shed some thoughts here? On a side note, thanks to all who have put their backs into creating such a fun and stimulating game (WOV, WOE, FE). Regards, Super61

SayWhat, Thanks for cluing me in on the right methods. One tends to get spoiled, especially since Google sets the standard for searching. LOL! - I couldn't help but think the same thing about all the requests for the F-22. Again, much obliged for the assist here Regards, Super61

Hi Fellas, Over the summer, I recall someone had established a link in this or other CombatAce forum regarding a class action lawsuit involving Maxtor hard drives. Sure enough, this past Wednesday, my 2 yr. old drive completely crashed (the place I took it to said it nothing was recoverable), so I ended up losing everything, including all my WOV mods. I know, I know, get a backup. I've learned the lesson the hard way. Has anyone heard if anything moved forward? Super61

Hi fellas, Sorry to start a new thread with a slightly similar question. I did change the date as mentioned and flew the F-14 in a 1968 single mission game. However, I noticed the Phoenix missle was not available for loading. Do I need to the make the same date edit in the weapons folder to make the missle and other modern day ordnance available? If so, will I have to continue making this edit after each weapons pack update? Or is this too simplistic? Thanks, and best regards to all of you who have made this game very enjoyableible. Super61

Hi Fellas, Recently, I had to update my video card drivers due to an unrelated issue I was having with some Roxio Easy Creator 8 software. I can now burn my home movies, however, I am having some diplay issues in WOV. When gameplay starts, the display only shows the left hand side of the game. Specifically, the middle of the aircraft and everything left of it is shown, i.e. left wing, left side of the runway, etc. is shown on the far right of the display. The right side is not visible (unless I use button controls to maneuver around or above the plane, etc.). I have gone into WOV graphics settings and maxed out or "dumbed" down the controls (resolution & display aspect ratios) to no avail. I have manipulated the settings in windows control panel to see if that would help, but no joy here either. Can anyone provide me a lead to get this corrected? Also, what is the best resolution & display aspect ratio for WOV given my specs? - I am using a 128MB DDR Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 Graphics card with a 17" Dell 1704FPT Ultrasharp Digital Flat Panel Display; Windows XP Home Edition; 1GB Dual DDR SDRAM - Windows settings are 1024x768; WOV settings are 1024x768x16. Thank you in advance Regards Super61 -

Hi Buff, I tried all you mentioned, and even reinstalled, but no luck. WOV is the only place where I am having this issue. I noticed on the XP control panel & NVidia settings that there are multiple options to tweak a 2 monitor setup, with minimal mention of a single monitor operation. Although I have the single monitor option checked, I am wondering if I had missed a checkbox somewhere and my system is trying to display through a "2nd" monitor/lcd. I say this because when I "dumbed" down my settings and cliked the options setting (before reflying a mission), my screen flickered and noticed 2 cursors and two menus. Weird huh? Is there a way I can remove the "2nd" monitor option in XP or through NVidia? I don't anticipate using a 2nd lcd flatscreen? However, I'm gonna try to reinstall the old drivers and see if that works (although that would bring up the prior problem). Great call on the DXDIAG, however. That is a pretty nifty tool I was not aware of previously. Again, thanks for your time and input. Regards Super61 -
F-111 TROUBLES
super61 replied to viperBAT32's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hi Fellas, Sorry to pileon w/a newb question, but one poster suggested altering the F-111 bmp file in order to reduce the fps hit. Once the bmp is opened for each file in paint, do I then save it as a 16 bit (from 24 bit in my instance) to get the desired effect? Thanks, super61
