Need Location/Translation of Rank Codes
Barkhorn1x replied to Barkhorn1x's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Just saw this post - prolly crossed w/ mine above. I am simply starting from the first date of the campaign and adding them in w/ their scores at that time via info. from the Aerodrome. So the Cambrai camp. starts om 11/20/17 and that means that MvR starts w/ 61 victories according to this link: http://www.theaerodrome.com/aces/germany/richthofen2.php Just gut feel here. I compiled a list from various sources for the major nations down to a certain victory level: GAS = 27 FAS = 13 UK & Comm. = 26 USAS = 10 Belgium = Willy Coppens! I'll file your ace info. for a campaign based on the early to mid 1917 timeframe after I redo all of the stock campaigns. Thanks. -
Nice work for a sweet ride! Thanks.

Wow!! What a job you've done here!! Thanks.

Need Location/Translation of Rank Codes
Barkhorn1x replied to Barkhorn1x's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Actually this looks easier than I thought. The Nations file is just a simple pointer file. So, a French ranks file is a case of creating a new French ranks INI file and adjusting the Nations file accordingly. I like your ranks as the stock sim reaches ridiculous heights. One question tho'; what determines promotion criteria thresholds? -
You bring up an interesting point about texture naming conventions and how they work w/ aircraft upgrades and ace coding. If you notice TK and co. have taken the approach of naming the textures the same – regardless of aircraft. Examples: AlbD3 = GermanCamo1 AlbD5 = GermanCamo1 Alb D5a = GermanCamo1 AlbD5a = RichtofenM FokkerDR1 = RichtofenM Confusing? Perhaps. BUT….this allows these skins to work seamlessly w/ other code. For instance, using the second example, you can start out a campaign w/ Jasta 11 and a default DVa and then upgrade to a DR1 and add Manfred as an ace using the SAME default texture name – allowing Manfred to use the appropriate skins - with NO conflicts. The program will do the aircraft type check and then the texture check. By using different naming conventions you can be more descriptive but you can block the use of specific ace textures.

Nice - can't wait to d/l.

Need Location/Translation of Rank Codes

Hmmm...I may have to take a shot. But, the more you do the less any potential mod has utility for everyone due to conflicts w/ other changes. I see no issue in changing the rank files - but - integrating w/ the nations file may conflict w/ other changes in that file. Still it will work fine for me so I may do it. I would love your SPA3 information as mine is not so much an individual squad based effort (except for Jasta 5). It is an overall ace based effort w/ the FAS aces included - where appropriate from a squad presence and assignment date - down to the 12 victory level. So Marcel Nogues is the last entry for the FAS. So...who knows - I may do a SPA3 effort after Jasta 5. Now, I hope I can get the Squad editor to function on my work Excel edition as that will give me the ability to vary the ace stats. Right now they are all at 100 for the different skill categories. -
Your approach sounds like a rational one to me. Thanks again for all of you hard work here.
-
Great work. Really looking forward to downloading.

You are my hero! Been waiting for this as I have decided to revamp the stock expansion campaigns based on - yep - Jasta 5 - adding all the aces using all of the wonderful skins found on this site. This really fills a void.

Anyone know where to look?

Nice!! -
I asked the following questions over at The Aerodrome: ...some questions on the March/May 1918 German cross switch from Maltese cross to Balkenkruez: 1. There appears to be no set "style" for the change - was this just left up to the individual Jasta's? 2. Where the crosses part of the lozenge printed fabric - or were they always added after. I received a reply from none other than Dan San Abbot - well known authority on WWI aviation and German markings in particular. http://www.theaerodrome.com/forum/camoufla...html#post354635 He did not address the second question directly but reading between the lines I believe that the crosses were painted on. And, as his post states - there were divergent interpretations of the directive that gives us those odd looking crosses. I also had to laugh at the differences in cross placement by the different DVII manufacturers. Good stuff!

...had an issue. PC would not boot outside of Safe Mode. So I had to back up the important stuff and do a fresh install of XP Pro. Now - I am confused by which EXACT DirectX install I should go w/ here. My understanding is that XP uses 9C and Vista uses 10. - Is that in fact correct? - And, if so, where is the correct link for 9C? Is this it: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...en#Requirements I really need to know before I install as I don't want to screw stuff up. System specs: System specs; AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core AM2 3500+ CPU 2GB DDR2 PC4200 Non-ECC Memory (2GB x 1) K9N Neo-F AM2 ATX mobo 160GB 7200RPM 3G SATA II Hard Drive 16X DVD+/-R/RW Dual Layer Drive w/Cyberlink GeForce 7600GT 256MB PCI-Express (2 DVI) Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio Windows XP Professional Thanks.
