  1. Similarities With Sfp1 ?

You have a computer spec very similar to mine, and I'm able to run the current Jet Thunder pre-alphas very smoothly in it. B)
  2. Similarities With Sfp1 ?

At the moment, there are two terrain systems. One is up and running, it's nice but doesn't allow for the full operations theater or even just the islands in a faithful recreation, and the other, newer, using ROAM algorithm and SRTM data, is very promising and features a stunning performance. But it's too soon to predict what system specs it will run - remember, we plan to throw in a dynamic campaign system, and these systems are heavy, so we will try to optimise the base engine the best we can before throwing the campaign system in.
  3. Similarities With Sfp1 ?

Yes, it will be fully moddable. We're taking care of the terrain generation part right now, soon we will have the formula to generate any terrain we wish, based on actual SRTM data available on the web. A compreensive tutorial will be available for modders when the game is near to be released.
  4. !!!viva Argentina!!!

Of course ;) And perhaps even the torpedo armed Pucara: http://www.laahs.com/art40.htm (not had time to be used in the real war, but our campaign won't be scripted, so, it can extend further enabling the use of these planes).
  5. Similarities With Sfp1 ?

Oh dear Steve, please don't even start with this talk about other flight simulators as you did in the past. I advise you to avoid mentionating sim titles as well...

Roger that, Nesher! No problem, you can mail me the questions at de_patta2001@yahoo.com

Yep, indeed it has to be retangular. This approach could be used to extend the map up to Ascension Island. It's more or less what the retail MS FS does (generic, low res terrain covering large regions, but with spots of high detail here and there), but we can't promise this feature for the 1st product release, but possibly in a later add-on/expansion pack - be in mind that our team is small with small resources, and even with most of the terrain repeating and in a generic fashion, it would be extremely large - possibly much larger than any featured terrain area in a combat flight sim until now. Good question, I should add this one to the project's FAQ. We're still thinking in the best way to solve the Vulcan problem. To extend the map seamlessly to include Ascension Island, will mean getting the entire brazilian coast as well (Vulcan's did most of the air-to-air refuelling with Victor tankers parallel to the brazilian coast, in one situation, one missed a refueller and had to make an emergency landing in Brazil/Rio de Janeiro - it was "Black Buck 5" mission, carrying Shrike anti-radiation missiles if I remember well). It is technically not impossible to do this, problem is 1) time to create the huge scenary (texture tiles, featured cities in the coastline) 2) extreme RAM usage. A down to earth approach at the moment is to make the Vulcans (currently A.I. only) to ingress in the campaign's map through the most north/east position, they do their business down in the war zone, and return through this same route. Another approach would be to include Ascension Island as a separated map but co-existing with our current map, with correct distances between the 2 areas correctly calculated as well as flight times and fuel usage - of course there will be a gap between the two areas, but at least players will be able to see Vulcans departing from Ascension Island in direction to their targets, hours away of flight in the south direction. Well spotted ;) But, it's exactly the same thing with the Argentinean flag that I've placed instead of the Spain flag for spanish language version. :)
  10. Welcome To The New Jet Thunder Forum

Hi! About my position, I'm the one who came with the concept of a carrier-based Harrier sim in a dynamic enviroment - in other words, Falklands/Malvinas is fitting very well for this concept, and I'm also directing the code's development. Well, I do a bit of everything, I help with the 3D modelling and uvw-mapping of objects as well, and I'm the site's webmaster too. :)
  11. Looks Good

Thanks for the support, folks! :D
  12. Welcome To The New Jet Thunder Forum

Jeff, thank you very much for the initiative to create this forum! :) Community support will be essential as we're running with so low staff and resources to give the deserved attention to the community. But I'll try to keep the community constantly updated of the progress, either in our site, or through this forum!
