SF2 Israel- campaign ends with one Death?

Playing SF2 I.

 

If I'm shot down in one mission the campaign ends. Is that supposed to happen?

You have to refly the mission and end the mission alive, not dead or captured.

Is that supposed to happen? I've started the 1967 campaign twice. Both times it ended after I died in the first or second mission.
