  1. FrenchWings update from version 6 to version 7b

This is an update of the dynamic campaigns French Wings 1943 - 1945. It replaces version 7/7a.

It requires version 6 to be installed. So French Wings parts 1 through 6 are required (these are all the main files for version 1), then the version 4 patch, the version 5 patch, the version 6 patch, and finally this update.

With this version 7b, there are now 12 dynamic campaigns for the French Air Force from 1943 to 1945. The latest one is dedicated to the bomber group "Bretagne", flying Martin B-26 Marauders.

Furthermore, some bugs have been corrected (see read-me file inside download).

Even if you already installed version 7/7a, please install this update to version 7b.

    Enjoy!

  3. America's Ace of Aces sample video tracks.

If anyone is interested this small campaign is just a sample of the video tracks I am adding to the campaign.

Unzip the folder Bong Tracks into the missions/campaign/us folder.

Choose new pilot career and then USAAF then Bong Tracks.

Set the difficulty on easy so you can finish the missions by pressing ESC and then Quit Mission and Apply.

The missions are all the same one and are just there to separate the videos.

There are 8 video tracks that highlight some of the missions in the real campaign "American's Ace of Ace's Richard Bong.

    Enjoy.

  4. DGen debugging guide

For players of offline dynamic campaigns with DGen.

If you have installed third-party dynamic campaigns DGen add-ons, either freeware (True Pacific, Disaster On the Frontiers, etc) or payware (Battle Over Europe, Ostfront, The Last Days), you certainly faced some minor bugs or compatibility issues. If you want to sort them out and enhance your flying experience with DGen, then this guide may be helpful to you!

This is a guide written based on my own experience; of course now the trouble should be minimized thanks to the publication of EnjoyR's patches.

This guide may also be of interest to players who wish to modify their DGen campaigns. Basically all DGen files can be manually edited, but it is somewhat of a challenge.

Let us share our experience together, to enhance the DGen dynamic campaigns!

  5. Ki.46 Interception

This mission recreates the interception and destruction of a Ki.46 in the early morning of Jan. 10th 1942 by two Brewster Buffalos of 243 Sqn, New Zealanders Sgts. Bert Wipiti and Charles Kronk.
Guided to the approacing bandit by radar and using a height advantage, they managed to slow the Dinah, eliminating its speed adavatage over the Buffalos, then shot it down over Johore. It was 243 Sqn's first kill.
    Can you do the same?

  7. Mulheim

Here is a mission for a max of 29 players :

    -8 A-20G teams (1 pilot and 2 gunners each),
    -4 fighter pilots (escort/Mustang MkIII),
    -1 reco pilot (SpitMkIXe).

For the "simili"-historic thing, read the briefing...

Skins are coming with the pack (only 3). Big thank you to
their authors, even if I have forgotten their names (except
    vpmedia) !!!

    Install is very simple :

-unzip all in a temporary folder and open the obtained folder
    (Mulheim).

-copy-paste everything in your FB-root : everything will
automatically go to the right place !!! well... that's how it
    should work...

-Run the game, launch a coop mission,

-choose the new "NorthWest Germany" folder,

-choose "The bridge of Mulheim" and that's it !!!

Pay attention to the briefing. Check the directions on the map
(those indivated in the briefing are purely approximate indications).

And have a good flight !!!

  15. DGen_briefings_corrected_v1.0.zip

DGen campaigns briefings - All languages except Russian.
    --------------------------------------------------------

    Version 1.0 - June 30th, 2007

As you probably have realized if you play DGen dynamic campaigns, there are many mistakes in current DGen briefings files:

    1) Missing campaign briefings and/or debriefings, which result in strange words displayed on the screen, such as "LeningradSummer44DeBr" or "Africa42tGbDb" for instance.
    2) Mistakes in briefings, which can make it sometimes impossible to display them in the game, especially when DGen syntax is not properly respected.
    3) Wrong or missing aircraft descriptions or city names
    4) Spelling and grammar errors

There are countless errors in the files, which is unavoidable given the hundreds of possible campaigns and probably thousands of various combinations of missions and campaigns which are available.

So I checked each briefing file, in all languages except Russian, and compared the contents with each related campaignsXXY.dat file, for all DGen campaigns.

Basically all files have had to be corrected, except the Polish briefings and a couple of the RAF briefings over Murmansk. All others are corrected.
For spelling and grammar, I corrected only the French briefings. For all languages, I tried to correct as many DGen errors as possible, such as missing briefings or debriefings.

There are probably still many mistakes, but at least with these files now the user should be able to start a campaign without seeing something like "Lvov41SkBr", and finish campaigns without seeing something like "KurlandAug44DeDb".

Some of the briefings will appear in English even if you use another language in the game, some will be blank, but I added new ones for most campaigns which had no briefings.

Thanks a lot to Ijekio ULMAR who provided me with a translation of his Africa campaigns briefings made by Gagarin, which I adapted slightly.

Some mission briefings for the Luftwaffe over Africa may look strange, because they refer to Soviets as enemies: this is due to the fact that these files are common with Eastern Front campaigns.

TO INSTALL, simply unzip the DGen folder contained in the zip, into the game's main directory, for all versions of installations/add-ons/patches.

By default the game's main directory is C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946, or C:\Program Files\Ubi Soft\IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles.
You can also use these files if you have Pacific Fighters only.

Allow Windows to overwrite older files.

I intend to update these files whenever necessary.
If you find mistakes, please let me know what campaign/mission briefing is wrong, and I will do my best to correct further: e-mail to me at vtrelut@yahoo.fr

    Happy Flying!
