rbenninghoven Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Hi, I have laptop. I would like to get SPF1 Gold running as fast and as smoothly as possible with a descent frame rate. Also, I would like to use Opentrack to switch between views. lastly, I have a working Saiteck Aviator USB controller that the game will not recognize. What is the best way to accomplish this and fix issues Laptop: Win 10 Pro, I5-3340m, 16 GB RAM, NVS 5200M 9139 MB, DirectX 12
Wrench Posted August 10 Posted August 10 Don't waste your time. It runs like shit on modern systems, even with all the screwing around trying to get DX9 properly installed. Time to evolve to SF2. 2
DoctorQuest Posted Monday at 06:39 PM Posted Monday at 06:39 PM Yup. The last OS I was able to run SF1 on was Windows 7. Given the lack of support for SF2 I worry that a future release of Windows or DirectX is going to break THAT sim. (long story short I am keeping a Windows 10 instance around just for SF2. It does not have an internet connection except when necessary............) SF2 COMPLETE sounds expensive at $100 US but what you get and what you can add on will give you many, many hours of flying pleasure. 2
rbenninghoven Posted Tuesday at 04:18 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 04:18 PM Yup the hundred bucks is kind of steep in the new Golden Age of Prosperity. I use most of my money just to survive. Thus the reason I try to leverage what I have and find work arounds. I got a lot of mileage out of the original purchase back in 2004 for like 14.99. The community for the games were a lot larger. I used a lot of the addons from community. Yup Wrench, I am an old dino that needs to evolve. As an aside I have enjoyed a lot of your addons Wrench. Thank you. 1
rbenninghoven Posted Tuesday at 04:53 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 04:53 PM Dr. Q, I might just dual boot 10 and 7. That would be maybe the best work around. I am not a fan of Windows 11 nor have the hardware to run such. One of these day I might be asking if anyone runs SFP1 or 2 on Linux. Thanks for the response
Wrench Posted Tuesday at 05:53 PM Posted Tuesday at 05:53 PM winblows 11 sucks!!! It just killed my photoshop 6 install, and I've been spent all weekend and this week (so far) rebuilding everything. Brushes, hundreds for FS compliant color chips ... jerks!!! Thank you for the compliment! It means a lot!!!
Blade Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Hi, It is possible to run the 1st gen games on Win7/10/11. Patch the game to the latest version, then download and install the renderers available at https://dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/ However, your GPU might not be enough, even for games this old. The game could run stable, but do not expect high frame rates.
