Wrench Posted Tuesday at 11:03 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:03 PM View File SF2 Curtiss BF2C-1 Goshawk / Hawk III by MontyCZ SF2 Curtiss BF2C-1 Goshawk / Hawk III by MontyCZ 8/20/2026 -For SF2 =ONLY= (Full/5 Merged Recommended) What we have here is a fairly major revamp of MontyCZ's Curtis BF2C-1 Goshawk as used by the US Navy in 1933, and the Hawk III export model used by the Nationalist Chinese Air Force in the late 1930s. Originally released in 2004 for 1st Gens, nothing has been done to this bird since a small mod by me in 2008, also for SF1. Historical comments are in the usual place, the "Notes" section below. Included in the package are skin and decal sets for the following units: US Navy: VB-5B (USS Ranger 1933) NS Blue/ NS Gray (<1941) (a fictional skin) ROCAF (aka Nationalist China): Hawk III, 5th Pursuit Group <1937 The skins remain in their bmp format, and decal randomization is TRUE. The VB-5 skin has been partly repainted, and all marking are decals. Plane-in-squadron flight color bands and BuNum are 100% historically correct. The only incorrect thing is due to "something wrong" with the cowl ring mesh, the proper decal placement of nose color bands is impossible. When the SB2U Vindicators are released (2 weeks!) you'll see how they really worked. The NS Blue/Gray skin re-uses the same decals as the VB-5. Historically, ALL of the Navy's Goshawks had been scrapped by 1935. This is a 'what if' skin. The ROCAF's skin serial numbers are correct for this aircraft in the time frame of its usage. The USN version has been tested on all our WW2 aircraft carriers, included the YAP RS versions (now in dry dock being revamped for SF2). It does have a small problem catching the wire, but otherwise is "passable". A user list was created for all those that had these on inventory at some time or another. Everything is included: WW2 bombs, drop tank, pilot figure and so forth. You'll also be adding a 'new' engine sound, so have your SoundList ini extracted, or be ready to extract it and add the new sound's data. Full instructions are in below, in the "To Install" section. On the Aircraft Selection Drop Down Screen you'll see: BF2C-1 Goshawk (the RoCAF skin will show this name as well, even though Curtiss called it "Hawk III") As is always recommended, unzip to a temp folder or your desktop to give easy access to the rest of this readme for it's install instructions. ==PLEASE== read them, before installing!!! There's all sorts of important information there to make sure installation goes as smooth as possible!!!!!!! Please read the Notes section for any other useless bits of information, the change log and so forth. MontyCZ's original read me text in included, in the main aircraft folder for archival purposes. Please also take note of changes in the Standard Disclaimer in the "Legal BS" section at the bottom. Happy Landings! Wrench Kevin Stein Updated: Package now has cowl color band fix by Wilches.
