TeTeT Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 Hello, will a Wingman (plane #2 in flight) ever use a Shrike when ordered to attack my target if it's a SA-2 launcher? Or do I have to find the Fan Song radar and hand this target over to him? Other flights and aircraft #3 and #4 work fine with Shrikes. I'm currently playing a campaign as F-105 jock and I wonder if there are any ways to repair the timing of the flights in campaign strike missions? It seems to me that CAP and SEAD flights are launched much later than my strike flight. While flying slowly and not following waypoints can make up for this, it's a bit tedious. BTW is there anywhere a description of the F-105 analog band gauges? I figured out the VSI and speed, but the rest I don't know what they really show. Bye, Torsten Quote
+Crusader Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 (edited) SHRIKE is an ARM (Anti Radiation Missile), so you have to find the Fan Song and order your wingi to attack it, and he will use the Shrike. He may flies off and away from it first, to get the right distance for weapon release. The tapes are AOA, speed Mach, speed kts, VSI, ALT, ALT (left to right) Edited April 7, 2006 by Crusader Quote

Mess around a bit to find a good range, but no more than 10 if you want a chance at a hit. Seems they are tempermental. Quote

You will be getting into the "experimental zone" if you want to play around with that. The fields to edit seem to be in the MissionControl.ini. You will have to extract it from the Flight Folder, MissionData.cat. Heres the section to edit, with some suggested numbers that seemed to work somewhat. [Waypoint] TaxiSpeed=5.14444 TaxiTime=300 --------- Try 30 here [i assume these are seconds] TakeOffTime=120 --------- Try 60 here InitialClimbDist=9260 InitialClimbAlt=3048 MaxInitialClimbAngle=45 MarshallTime=150 ---------- Try 20 here IPDist=27780 IPAngle=45.0 IPTime=120 AttackAlt=500 MaxApproachAngle=90 LandApproachDist=18520 LandApproachAlt=1524 LandLineupDist=9260 LandLineupAlt=762 StackAltDiff=500 ArrivalTimeDiff=60 EscortTimeDiff=10 MinBaseRange=30 MinFACRange=15 AircraftWaypointSize=1500 GroundObjectWaypointSize=500 After you edit it just put it in the flight folder. Not totally sure whats going on here so no guarantees. Quote
+Spectre_USA Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 Very cool Baff-man! I have to give this a go, as the timing always seemed a bit off. Sometimes a bunch off... Quote
TeTeT Posted April 8, 2006 Author Posted April 8, 2006 Thanks for the mod, seems to work fine! In my last mission two Phantoms were already airborne and the SEAD flight took off only with a slight delay. We arrived on target just fine. Now I have to figure out who is responsible for sending 2 F-4 escort, 2 F-105 SEAD and 2 F-105 strike after Paul Doumer bridge. Got some years in Hanoi Hilton to ponder this... Great help! TeTeT Posted April 15, 2006 Author Posted April 15, 2006 Glad it's working out! If you get it tweaked better please pass along the new numbers. Cheers :) I modified the values somewhat and haven't gotten any better results than with the ones you posted. It seems if you reduce the times for the other flights you'll be hopelessly late for SEAD or escort missions. But overall the timing is much improved with your settings, thanks! Quote
