How to change planes for a mission

I am using a carrier takeoff mission and would like to modify file so I can fly the same mission with a different plane?

It's really quite easy. Simply change the aircraft from F-4J to FA-18A. The mission file is a text file so you can simply type it in; just be sure that you use the exact file name for the aircraft you want to use (ex: FA-18a, vs. FA18A). You may get some issue with the dates; i.e. mission date prior to aircraft release, but that is easyily fixed if it comes up.

 

A second option is to change the aircraft type using the drop down menu in the mission loading screen.

 

Or, a third option is to use one of the mission editors (KMD, Le Missioneur) to change the aircraft type. By using one of the editors, you can also easily change any other mission parameters with a few clicks of a button.

All you need to do is change the plane from the one you don't want to the one you do, I have done this my self, the same thing in fact. Just find the squadron you want to fly with and switch the A/C type. That’s all you have to do! If you are interested in having the F/A18 weapons you will have to change the load out in the campaign date file, if you are playing campaign that is! Hope this helps! If need be I can PM the file which I changed to have the F/A18-A in WOV.
