Campaigns in WOV

Recommended Posts

How come I can't take off from a Carrier in US Navy Rolling thunder campaign or any other USN campaign setting? I'm always taking off from the sea and crashing! There's no carrier anywhere. Maybe I'm missing something here, but it would seem like if there is a campiagn for the Navy, there would be a carrier to take off from. I can take off from a carrier in the single missions but not from the campaigns. Anybody got a clue what's wrong here?

Are you fully patched up? I do not recall ever seeing that problem in a campaign. Have you added any mods?

I've used the 2 patches that are at the 3rd wire site. I guess they're all the updates rolled into 2 patches. I haven't added any mods except for A/C. Just tried again this morning and still on the wavetops, not a carrier in sight. Guess I'll reinstall this on my other computer and see if it happens again.

Ask yourself this;

What carrier is listed in the campaign data file, and which carriers do you have installed? Your problem may be just that simple to resolve.

Well I reinstalled the game on my other computer and there's still no Carrier in the Linebacker 1 campaign. I assume that this stuff for the campaign=

//---- Player Unit

[AirUnit030]

;AircraftType=F-8J

AircraftType=F-8E

Squadron=VF24

ForceID=1

Nation=USN

DefaultTexture=USNGrey1

StartNumber=25

BaseArea=Yankee Station

CarrierBased=TRUE

CarrierNumber=19 ****************************

BaseMoveChance=0

RandomChance=100

MaxAircraft=16

StartAircraft=16

MaxPilots=16

StartPilots=16

Experience=100

Morale=100

Supply=100

MissionChance[sWEEP]=90

MissionChance[CAP]=0

MissionChance[iNTERCEPT]=0

MissionChance[ESCORT]=90

MissionChance=40

MissionChance[CAS]=10

MissionChance[sEAD]=10

MissionChance[ARMED_RECON]=25

MissionChance[ANTI_SHIP]=0

MissionChance[RECON]=0

UpgradeType=NEVER

Supply[001].WeaponType=Mk81

Supply[001].Quantity=720

Supply[002].WeaponType=Mk82

Supply[002].Quantity=720

Supply[003].WeaponType=Mk83

Supply[003].Quantity=240

Supply[004].WeaponType=LAU-3A

Supply[004].Quantity=80

Supply[005].WeaponType=LAU-10A

Supply[005].Quantity=80

Supply[006].WeaponType=BLU-1

Supply[006].Quantity=240

Supply[007].WeaponType=AIM-9G

Supply[007].Quantity=640

Supply[008].WeaponType=Mk82SE

Supply[008].Quantity=240

Supply[009].WeaponType=Rockeye

Supply[009].Quantity=360

Supply[010].WeaponType=CBU-24B

Supply[010].Quantity=240

means the carrier assigned is number 19? I looked in the GroundObject section and there's no #19. There's a CVA #43 Kitty Hawk folder but no other carrier folders. I haven't had this game before but can I change the number above to the Kitty hawk folder? I would try that but I'm clueless as what the original folder was named. Also I was going to add the Da NangLights Mod but I don't have this file "VietnamSEA_TARGETS.ini" in my VietnamSea folder. Is that file supposed to be in that folder from the get go or doe's it get generated later?

No, CarrierNumber=19 refers to:

[CarrierUnit001]

CarrierType=SCB-125 <----carrier model

CarrierNumber=19 <----here

UnitName=CVA-19 Hancock

ForceID=1

Nation=USN

BaseArea=Yankee Station

NumSquadron=5

BaseSize=SMALL

Experience=100

Morale=100

Supply=100

in the same file.

The carrier models should be in \Objects\GroundObject\ as SCB-125 and CVA-63. Try coping them from pre-patch installation. (But Iam not sure if it really helps.)
