missiles countercountermeasures

Hi

Well ive seen the sidewinder is not affected by flares, it ignores em.

What value makes that??

cause ive tried to make a r73 ignore flares too but dont seem to find how to fix it.

What model Sidewinder? What model Archer?

 

I've no problem hitting targets with both the R-73M1 and M2, unless said target is maneuvering and dumping flares simultaneously, and I'm firing from a rear quarter aspect while it's doing so.

 

I've even found the R-60MK to be effective when fired within its parameters.

 

I'll tell you what. Copy and paste the .ini entries for the R-73M1 & M2. and for L & M-series Sidewinders to your response, and I'll see if they match my entries.

I've no problem hitting targets with both the R-73M1 and M2, unless said target is maneuvering and dumping flares simultaneously, and I'm firing from a rear quarter aspect while it's doing so.

Well judging by the test fire videos Ive seen an AIM-9X cant be decoyed by flares so thats pretty much spot on.

 

Thats to say that flares being developed may have more success - but im not hopeful

Secondly, the in-service date on the R-73M1 was 1987, not 1980.

 

Thirdly, you're probably not taking advantage of the missile's all-aspect capabilities, and that is why you're probably shooting at flares. Ponder that one.

lol one lesson i learned

dont try to overpower the booster acceleration, it will make the missile go to fast that misses its traget (cant turn better)
